Kolkata (WB), Apr 25 (ANI): Australia's High Commissioner to India Harinder Sidhu along with Andrew Ford, Australian Consul-General in Kolkata paid homage to those, who lost their lives in service to their country during Anzac Day ceremony Bhowanipore Commonwealth War Graves. Australian cricketer Steve Smith also took part in the ceremony. Anzac Day commemorated on April 25. It is one of the Australia's most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces in 1915 during the First World War. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as Anzacs, and the pride they took in that name endures to this day. Anzac Day is the national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
New Delhi, Apr 25 (ANI): Senior Advocate Indira Jaising on Thursday opined that unless Chief Justice of India resigns, a fair judicial probe into the sexual harassment allegations against Ranjan Gogoi would not be able to take place. Jaising cited a 2015 SC judgment to back her argument and said the top court had in that year said the accused person cannot continue to perform his or her functions.
Sehore (Madhya Pradesh), Apr 25 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and its candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency, Pragya Thakur, on Thursday said that after Uma Bharti, another 'sanyasin' has risen up against Congress leader Digvijaya Singh and would hold the latter accountable for his deeds. Thakur added that she will politically finish off the Congress leader's career. Bhopal (MP), Apr 25 (ANI): Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday reached Election Commission to file a complaint against Chhindwara's collector Shrinivas Sharma over his chopper being stopped from landing in Chhindwara. He said that the collector deliberately denied landing permission of his chopper in Chhindwara as he was being biased towards MP Chief Minister Kamal Nath.

Chandigarh, Apr 25 (ANI): Actor-turned-politician and Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher on Thursday filed her nomination from Punjab's Chandigarh constituency. Before filing her nomination, Kirron conducted a roadshow to show her strength to the opposition parties. Veteran actor Anupam Kher campaigned for his wife, who is looking forward to retain her Chandigarh seat. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat was also present in her roadshow. Kirron is the incumbent MP from Chandigarh seat since 2014. She had joined the BJP in 2009.

Jhansi constituency will face polling in the 4th phase of election on 29th april. Three phases have been completed in the ongoing seven-phase Lok Sabha elections. The results for the elections will be out on May 23.

Chandigarh, Apr 25 (ANI): Veteran actor Anupam Kher on Thursday campaigned for his wife and BJP leader Kirron Kher who is looking to retain her Chandigarh seat. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat was also seen beside Anupam Kher. Kirron Kher is the incumbent MP from Chandigarh seat since 2014. She had joined the BJP in 2009.

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), Apr 25 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on Anantnag encounter, Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir Dilbag Singh said, "Both terrorists that were neutralised in the encounter were from Hizbul Mujahideen. One was active since 2017 and the other became active in June 2018. Operation was carried out very neatly, there was no collateral damage."

Siliguri (West Bengal), Apr 25 (ANI): In a bid to spread awareness regarding preserving one's mother tongue, 29-year-old Gandhar Kulkarni has embarked on a 20,000-kilometre journey on his bicycle. Hailing from Maharashtra, Kulkarni aims to enlighten the younger generation and help them reconnect with their mother tongue. A postgraduate in Sanskrit, Kulkarni said that he started this expedition on July 01, 2018, and intends to complete it by August 15 this year. He told ANI, "I started this initiative to create awareness about one's mother tongue and put an emphasis on this in schools. One must read all languages but they should learn their mother tongue first."
