LS polls: PM Modi kick-starts election campaign from Meerut

Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 28 (ANI): Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday kick-started his election campaign from Meerut. He is traveling across the country seeking support for upcoming Lok Sabha elections. While addressing the gathering, PM Modi said that he will give account of the work that he's done so far. He said, "5 years ago, when I sought your blessings, you gave me a lot of love. I had said that I will return the blessings and the love with interest, and I had also said that I will give account of the work that I have done." He further said, "Along with giving the account of my work, I will also look at the account of others work. These two things will go hand in hand. Then only accounts will settle. And, as you all know I am the 'Chowkidar' and 'Chowkidar' never do injustice. Everyone will be accounted."

Suspended AAP MP Harinder Singh Khalsa joins BJP

IT raids underway at Karnataka minister's residence

Mandya (Karnataka), Mar 28 (ANI): Officials from the Income Tax department are conducting raids at the Chinnakurli residence of Janata Dal (Secular) leader and Karnataka Minor Irrigation Minister CS Puttaraju in Mandya, sources said on Thursday. The raids are being carried out by IT officials and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel.Currently, raids are underway at multiple locations in Bengaluru, Hassan, Mandya and Mysuru, sources revealed.Raids are also taking place at locations of 17 contractors and seven officers from the Public Works Department (PWD) and Irrigation Department.

A-SAT missile project began two years ago, went into "mission mode" in last six months, says DRDO Chairman

New Delhi, Mar 28 (ANI): After successfully conducting an anti-satellite (A-SAT) missile test on Wednesday, the Chairman of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Dr G. Satheesh Reddy revealed in an interview with ANI that the project to develop this rare missile capability was green-lit two years ago. Reddy said, "The development started couple of years back and we started the real 'mission mode' in last six months. About 100 scientists worked 24*7 and made it possible. Background work started two years back."

New Delhi, Mar 28 (ANI): After successfully conducting an anti-satellite (A-SAT) missile test on Wednesday, the Chairman of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Dr G. Satheesh Reddy revealed in an interview with ANI about the project. Reddy said, "We have developed many technologies towards the A-SAT. We launched the missile against a satellite in the lower earth orbit. We've hit the target by 'Kinetic kill' that means by directly hitting the satellite." He further said, "Scientists worked dedicatedly for it. This is a very significant milestone in the country's technological development era. Only three nations had it and now we are the fourth one."

3 terrorists killed in encounter with security forces in Shopian, operation underway

Shopian (J-K), Mar 28 (ANI): Three terrorists killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Keller area of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir (J-K). Weapons were also recovered from the encounter site. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Army and Jammu and Kashmir police have launched a joint operation to nab the terrorists. LS polls: Over 200 artists gather in Vadodara to promote voting awareness

Vadodara (Gujarat), Mar 28 (ANI): More than 200 artists gathered in Vadodara, which is called the art capital of Gujarat, and displayed unique portraits to promote voting awareness ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Live painting, portraits, artworks were on display at the social event to spread voting awareness and urge people to exercise their franchise. One of the senior artists, Narayan Patel, told ANI that various artworks were put up to encourage masses to vote. More children could mean higher risk of heart disease

New Delhi, Mar 28 (ANI): Parents who have five or more children may face a higher risk of heart disease than those who have only one or two, a recent study suggests. As part of the study, a team of researchers looked at data from nearly 25,000 participants, aged 50 and older, who took part in a national health survey. The findings have been published in the Journal of Aging and Health. "Many studies have linked women's reproductive characteristics, such as their age at their first childbirth, with their risk of heart disease later in life. But there wasn't much known about the association between family size and heart disease, and very few studies have looked at how fatherhood may relate to men's risk of heart disease," said Sara Hipp, lead researcher of the study. The team of researchers found that 30 per cent of the parents who said they had five or more children had a heart condition such as coronary heart disease, angina or congestive heart failure. Panaji (Goa), Mar 28 (ANI): Art and Culture Minister in the Goa government, Govind Gaude, on Wednesday termed ousted Deputy Minister Sudin Dhavalikar "most corrupt" person in the state and called for inquiry into several projects which the latter had helmed. "Sudin Dhavalikar is the most corrupt person in Goa. Inquiry has to be conducted in JICA construction because it's a long pending project and roads which have been considered under repairs and installation should be investigated as time bound has been already completed," Gaude told ANI.
