Anantnag (J-K), Oct 17 (ANI): Indian Army 19 RR in collaboration with Pune based NGO, Aseem foundation organised a women's cricket tournament in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. 4 women cricket teams participated from Anantnag and Kulgam districts in the tournament held at Sports Stadium Dooru Shahabad. Female cricketers hailed the initiative and urged the parents to support their children in pursuing their career in sports. Female Ranji Trophy player Rubiya Syed said that it is a happy moment for girls that Indian Army has organized this tournament. Rubiya said, "The matches that are taking place here are being conducted by the Army. The intension behind is that if any girl is coming out through these camps then will get a chance to go to Pune and be a part of academies. So, it's a matter of happiness for us." Aseem Foundation president, Pune Sarang Gosavi said that the foundation will provide sponsorship for education and sports of the selected candidates.
New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): Devotees offered prayers at Delhi's famous Jhandewalan Temple on the first day of 'Navratri' on October 17. Morning 'aarti' was also performed at the temple. Devotees were also seen visiting Kalkaji Mandir on the occasion. However, temples should follow allow the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Dumka (Jharkhand), Oct 17 (ANI): A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Jharkhand. The heinous crime happened in Ramgarh Police Station limits of Dumka district. "The body has been sent for post mortem. Investigation is underway," a police official said.

Skipper praised Cummins for stitching KKR's innings and said that he is being viewed as an all-rounder. Morgan said, "We have actually looked at Pat as an all rounder. Firozabad (UP), Oct 17 (ANI): A BJP leader was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad on October 17 by bike-borne assailants. Leader DK Gupta was shot outside his shop in Narkhi Police Station limits. Police arrived at the spot to take situation into control. Relatives named a suspect who had earlier threatened Gupta over the enmity due to 'pradhan' election. Police investigation is underway.

Phanta Chowk (Srinagar), Oct 16 (ANI): Kashmir Inspector General of Police, Vijay Kumar informed that the forces have arrested Jahangir Bhat, the associate of SPO Altaf Hassan Bhat, both of whom had decamped recently with two AK-47 rifles and three magazines. "Special Police Officer Altaf Hassan Bhat, posted in Budgam, had decamped with two AK-47 rifles and three magazines, two days back along with his friend Jahangir Bhat. Area was cordoned by security forces and firing had ensued. SPO managed to escape, Jahangir was nabbed," said Kashmir IGP.
Awantipora (Jammu and Kashmir), Oct 16 (ANI): In a joint search operation, Awantipora Police, with 55 Rashtriya Rifles and 185 Battalion CRPF busted a terrorist hideout at Kawani area of J-K's Awantipora district. They destroyed the underground hideout of Lashkar- e-Taiba. One pistol, three hand grenades, 2091 rounds of AK-47 ammunition has been recovered from the spot. FIR has been registered in the matter.
New Delhi, Oct 16 (ANI): The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Chairperson, Shiv Das Meena said that contribution of stubble burning in air pollution of Delhi, dependent on meteorological and other factors. "Six percent contribution was from stubble burning, yesterday (in the pollution of Delhi). The information we get from IMD (India Meteorological Department) via SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research) portal varies dependent on meteorological and other factors," said Shiv Das Meena. CPCB had deployed 50 teams for extensive field visits from October 15 to ensure strict vigilance as pollution levels mount in Delhi and adjoining areas. "The teams will monitor vigil against pollution and will continue till February 28 next year. Teams will focus on hotspot areas where the problem gets aggravated and will directly report on SAMEER app and also coordinate it with agencies. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently inaugurated 44 bridges in the country including eight strategic bridges in Ladakh only. In addition to this, the construction of 45 more bridges in Ladakh will be completed by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in the next two years. BRO has completed eight bridges in both Kargil and Leh on four strategically important roads close to the Line of Control (LOC) and Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh. New Delhi, Oct 16 (ANI): The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on October 16 stated that meteorological conditions in Delhi have been "extremely unfavourable" for dispersion of pollutants since this September as compared to last year."PM2.5 and PM10 concentration between September and October this year has been more as compared to the corresponding period last year," Prashant Gargava said. "In winters, the ventilation index, a combination of horizontal wind dispersion and heat dissipation of pollutants, is very less in landlocked areas like Delhi. This leads to a higher rate of pollution," Prashant Gargava added.
