COVID-19: Air India flight carrying 263 Indian evacuated from Rome lands in Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): An Air India special flight carrying 263 Indians evacuated from the coronavirus-hit Italy capital city of Rome, landed at the Delhi airport on Sunday morning. The flight landed at the airport at 9:15 am. The evacuees -- mostly students - will be taken to an Indo-Tibetan Border Police-managed quarantine facility in Chhawla shortly after undergoing thermal screening and immigration at the airport. This is the second batch of Indians evacuated from Italy, which has reported more than 47,000 cases of the novel coronavirus.

CM Yogi urges people to join 'Janata Curfew'

Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 22 (ANI): Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath urged people to join the 'Janata Curfew'. COVID-19: IGI airport bars all international flights for 1 week from Mar 22

Delhi/ Mumbai, Mar 22 (ANI): The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport has barred all International flights for one week from March 22 onwards amid the coronavirus pandemic. Several passengers queued up at the departure lane of IGI Airport (T-3). No scheduled international commercial passenger flights are allowed to land in India from today for one week as per Government of India's advisory. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of positive cases of coronavirus in India now stands at 315. Various international flights have also been suspended at Mumbai airport amid COVID-19 outbreak. There have been four deaths in the country due to coronavirus so far as per information given by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

315 positive cases of coronavirus in India: ICMR

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): Indian Council of Medical Research said that the total number of positive cases of COVID-19 has gone up to 315. It came after India recorded 79 cases on Mar 21, which is the biggest one day jump. 4 people have been died so far in India due to COVID-19. Maharashtra has confirmed the most positive cases in India while Delhi has confirmed 25 positive cases until now. Earlier today, Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry said that a total of 111 labs for testing coronavirus across the country will be functional from today. Aggarwal also said that the states have been asked to use the National Health Mission funds for their health sector preparedness. "As of today, we are contact-tracing around 7,000 cases. Once we get factual information on community transmission cases we will let people know," he added.

Positive cases of COVID-19 rise to 27 in Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): According to Health Department of Delhi, number of positive cases of novel coronavirus in Delhi rose to 27. Out of the 27 positive cases, 20 people are currently admitted in various hospitals, five people have been discharged while one person has migrated out of the country. 15 jawans airlifted to Raipur for medical aid in Sukma naxal encounter

Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Mar 22 (ANI): A massive encounter broke out between District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans and naxals in forests of Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district on March 21. Around 15 DRG jawans sustained injuries in the fierce gun-battle with naxals. They have been airlifted to Raipur and being brought to Ramkrishna Care Hospitals for medical aid. COVID-19 can remain infectious for days on surfaces, reveals study

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): As people are taking precautionary measures to combat the spread of the deadly coronavirus, a new scientific study has found that the virus that causes COVID-19 remains for several hours to days on surfaces and in aerosols. The study published in the New England Journal of Medicine said that people may acquire the novel coronavirus through the air and after touching contaminated objects. Scientists discovered the virus is detectable for up to three hours in aerosols, up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel. The study attempted to mimic the virus being deposited onto everyday surfaces in a household or hospital setting by an infected person through coughing or touching objects, for example. The scientists then investigated how long the virus remained infectious on these surfaces.
