Indian Railways cancels all trains on Sunday due to Janata Curfew

New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): In the wake of 'Janata Curfew' being declared on March 22, all over Indian Railways, no train will start from its originating station from 4 am to 10 pm informed Chief Public Relation Officer of East Coast Railway, JP Mishra. He further informed, "Trains that have started from originating station and are on run before 4 am of March 22, 2020 will be allowed to run upto their destination stations." In East Coast Railway, 48 express trains and 93 ordinary passenger trains are cancelled. In total 141 trains cancelled by East Coast Railway. The step has been taken after PM Modi declared 'Janata Curfew' to be held on March 22. The total number of positive cases of coronavirus has climbed to 315.

Sukma naxal encounter: 14 jawans airlifted to Raipur for treatment

Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Mar 22 (ANI): An encounter broke out between security forces and naxals in forests of Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district on March 21. The encounter took place near Minpa area in Sukma. Around 14 District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans sustained injuries in the fierce gun-battle with naxals. They have been airlifted to Raipur and being brought to RamKrishna Care Hospitals. More details are awaited in this regard.

Congress MLAs meet Shivraj Chouhan at his residence in Bhopal

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Mar 22 (ANI): The rebel Congress MLAs who had recently joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met party leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on March 21. The MLAs met him at his residence in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath tendered his resignation on March 20 to Governor Lalji Tandon following the resignation of 22 Congress MLAs.

Bengaluru (Karnataka), Mar 21 (ANI): Residents of Bengaluru on March 21 rehearsed for 'Janta Curfew'. They clapped and beat utensils from their balconies to show their support for the 'Janta Curfew'. Prime Minister called upon the people to clap or beat utensils for five minutes at 5 pm on March 22, as PM Modi called for 'Janata Curfew' on March 22 between 7 am and 9 pm to beat coronavirus scare.

Not 'Janata Curfew', it's 'care for you' initiative: Gautam Gambhir

New Delhi, Mar 21(ANI): BJP MP Gautam Gambhir on PM Modi's 'Janata Curfew' call said that don't witness it as janata curfew instead it is a "care for you" initiative. Gambhir requested people to support the Janata Curfew on March 22 and stay at home. He also requested people to "maintain social distancing" and "come out of the house only if compulsory."

No lockdown in Delhi for now, but will do if needed: CM Kejriwal

New Delhi, Mar 21 (ANI): There will be no lockdown in the national capital for now, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on March 21. "I appeal to all of you to discontinue your morning walks for some time and stay at home. We are not doing a lockdown currently but we might in future, if necessary for your betterment and safety," said CM Kejriwal, while speaking exclusively to ANI. 111 labs across country functional from today for coronavirus testing: Govt

New Delhi, Mar 21 (ANI): Joint Secretary of Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal on March 21 said the Director General of ICMR had a discussion with states to make 111 labs functional across the country for testing of coronavirus. Lav Agarwal said, "111 labs across the country will be functional from today. A discussion has been going on with private sector labs as well. A detailed order regarding the same will be released by today evening." Union Health Ministry has informed that a total of 298 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the country. Out of the total number, four people have died and 22 others have been recovered.

215 evacuees at ITBP's quarantine facility tested negative, await 2nd test

New Delhi, Mar 21 (ANI): All 215 evacuees from Italy staying at Indo-Tibetan Border Police's (ITBP) quarantine facility in Delhi has been tested negative for coronavirus. Evacuees are staying at the quarantine facility from last seven days. Group includes 151 males and 64 females. Most of these evacuees are students studying in Italy. However, the second and final sampling will be done on 14th day of the quarantine period and if that also results as negative, then all these 215 persons will be released from the facility.

People maintain social distance in queue due to COVID-19 scare in Pune

262 people arriving today from Rome, will be quarantined: Govt

Kejriwal announces hike in ration, pension to mitigate coronavirus effects

New Delhi, Mar 21 (ANI): Amid the coronavirus scare, Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal announced welfare schemes focusing low income groups and daily wage labourers. Delhi government said it will provide free ration to over 72 Lakh people who are dependent on its ration scheme. Moreover, Delhi government is also doubling widow, old age, 'Divyang' pensions for the month of April. The government will also provide food in night shelters free of cost."Daily wage labourers are losing their livelihood due to coronavirus. We've decided to provide free ration to over 72 Lakh people who are dependent on Delhi government's ration scheme. Five or more people cannot gather in Delhi: CM Kejriwal

New Delhi, Mar 21 (ANI): Amid coronavirus outbreak, Delhi Chief Minister announced that five or more people will not be allowed to gather at any place in Delhi. "If there are five people, they should maintain at least one meter distance from each other," said CM Kejriwal.
