People screened for COVID-19 at India-Bangladesh border

Fulbari (West Bengal), Mar 15 (ANI): Several people were screened in West Bengal's Fulbari at India-Bangladesh border before their movement across it on March 15. Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered that movements through immigration land check posts at India-Bangladesh borders will remain suspended from 12 AM on March 15 till further orders. While speaking to ANI, Health Staff at the screening camp set up at India-Bangladesh border in Fulbari, Kanchan said, "We are screening all the people who are going across the border. There has been no positive case here till now."

Coronavirus: Rs 500 fine for spitting on roads or in public places, says Gujarat Chief Secretary

Gandhinagar (Gujarat), Mar 15(ANI): Amid Coronavirus scare in the country, Gujarat Chief Secretary Anil Mukim on March 15 attended a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rupani. After the meeting he informed about the decision taken in the meeting. He said that a fine of Rs 500 fine will be imposed on anyone who will be caught spitting in public places. He added, "All the cinema halls and swimming pools in the state will also remain closed from 16th to 29th March.""All educational institutions - schools, colleges, tuition classes, angnawadi across the state will remain closed from 16th to 29th March. No teaching work will be done here but the teaching and non-teaching staff can come."

First and second confirmatory test for COVID-19 are free: Sanjeeva Kumar

New Delhi, Mar 15(ANI): Ministry of Health, Special Secretary, Sanjeeva Kumar on Sunday stated that the first and second confirmatory tests for COVID-19 free for all citizens. He further ensured that the country has enough testing capacity as only 10 per cent of the total capacity has been utilized daily.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases climbs to 107 in India

New Delhi, Mar 15(ANI): Ministry of Health, Special Secretary, Sanjeeva Kumar on Sunday confirmed 107 COVID-19 cases in the country; this number includes 9 discharged cases and 2 deaths. "23 new cases have been detected since last update," says Sanjeeva Kumar. State wise division of the number is 17 from Maharashtra, 2 from Telangana, 1 from Rajasthan and 3 from Kerala. He further informed that the Buldhana patient who died on March 14 was tested negative for COVID-19

Coronavirus: 236 Indians from Iran being quarantined at Army facility in Jaisalmer, says Sanjeeva Kumar

New Delhi, Mar 15(ANI): Health Ministry Special Secretary Sanjeeva Kumar on March 15 informed that the third batch of 236 evacuees from Iran arrived on March 15. These citizens are being quarantined at the Army facility in Jaisalmer. So far, all are reported to be asymptomatic at present. He added that order for over 80 lakhs face masks and personal protective equipments for healthcare workers have been placed. "An order has been placed for the procurement of an additional 80,56,365 N95 masks and personal protective equipment for healthcare workers," said Sanjeeva Kumar

Coronavirus hits hotel industry hard in Rajasthan

Jaipur (Rajasthan), Mar 15 (ANI): The hotel industry is currently at a loss because of coronavirus pandemic and 100 per cent bookings including advances ones have been cancelled, said Gajendra Luniwal, president of Jaipur Hotel Association. "100 per cent bookings including advanced ones have been cancelled. Domestic tourists are also not visiting now. It has reached zero. The hotel industry and allied services are facing losses. We have reached a position where paying salaries to employees will be difficult," Luniwal told ANI.

COVID-19: All educational institutes, cinema halls will remain closed in Assam till Mar 29
