Narrow escape for 26 passengers after bus catches fire in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Mar 13 (ANI): A bus caught massive fire at RC Puran area in Hyderabad due to a short circuit in the engine on March 13. The bus was coming from Mumbai to Hyderabad. Fire brigade reached at the spot to douse the flames. As many as 26 passengers along with driver escaped unhurt by taking timely action. Further details are awaited.

Prez Trump prefers Namaste over handshake with Irish PM amid COVID-19

New Delhi, Mar 13 (ANI): In a press conference held in US, President Doanld Trump shared his experience of meeting with Irish Prime Minister, Leo Varadkar and how he greeted him with Namaste instead of handshake during the meet amid coronavirus spread. Trump said, "We (him and PM of Ireland) didn't shake hands today and we looked at each other and said what are we going to do? Sort of a weird feeling. We did this (joined hands). I just got back from India and I didn't shake any hands there. It was easy." Donald Trump further said, "It is very possible for the Olympics maybe, I just cannot see having no people there, in other words, not allowing people. Maybe and this is just my idea, maybe they postpone it for a year."

Job seekers with mental illness consider poor physical health a barrier for finding job

New Delhi, Mar 13 (ANI): In a recent study, researchers find that people with serious mental illness believe their physical health problems rather than psychological health make it difficult for them to find jobs. About 11.4 million U.S. adults have a serious mental illness - such as schizophrenia, anxiety, major depression and bipolar disorder - and up to 90 percent are unemployed, with about three million that are dependent on public assistance, including Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Insurance. Chronic unemployment is a major concern since it can exasperate stress, anxiety, depression and cardiovascular disease and reduce access to the care they need to manage their physical and mental conditions. The goal of the Rutgers study was to better understand how a person's perception of their mental and physical health affects job seeking. Black Friday on bourses as equity indices crash on COVID-19 impact worldwide

Mumbai, Mar 13 (ANI): Investors woke up to a Black Friday as equity indices crashed by nearly 10 per cent with coronavirus panic selling globally hitting almost every asset class. Sensex reopens after 45 minutes halt due to lower circuit; plunges 3518.49 points, at 29206.20 currently. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were floating in red with Nifty IT down by 13.15 per cent, PSU bank by 12.96 per cent, metal by 11.83 per cent and auto by 11.38 per cent. Among stocks, Kotak Mahindra Bank was the top loser after dropping by over 20 per cent at Rs 1,172.05 per share. Bharat Petroleum Corporation slipped by 16.7 per cent, GAIL by 15.3 per cent and ONGC by 14 per cent.

Tinder cancels 'Swipe Night' international launch over COVID-19

New Delhi, Mar 13 (ANI): Tinder's apocalyptic adventure 'Swipe Night' series will not launch around the world, the company has officially announced. In a brief press note on its official website, Tinder notes that Swipe Night series, which was planned for a global launch this weekend, has been cancelled out of sensitivity over the series' apocalyptic theme and the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19: Canadian PM Justin Trudeau's wife tests positive

New Delhi, Mar 13 (ANI): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau tested positive for novel coronavirus disease. Sophie Gregoire Trudeau came down with flu-like symptom after she returned from London on Mar 11. Justin Trudeau has not exhibited any symptom of the virus and is working from home for a while. A total number of positive cases of coronavirus has reached to over 37, 370. In India, the number has plunged to 73.

Coronavirus-hit Italy, Iran have requested India for protective gears: MEA

New Delhi, Mar 12 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson, Raveesh Kumar held a press conference in national capital on March 12. While addressing a press conference he said they have received requests from some of the countries in the neighbourhood in terms of providing them assistance for protective gears for coronavirus. He said, "We have received requests from some of the countries in the neighbourhood in terms of providing them assistance for protective gear. Requests are under process. In February we had sent a consignment to China. We have received requests (for protective gears) from Bhutan, Maldives, Iran, and Italy. In China, it has already been dispatched."

All cinema halls in Delhi to be closed till March 31: Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi, Mar 12 (ANI): Amid growing cases of deadly coronavirus in India, Delhi government has announced to shut all cinema halls in Delhi till March 31. While speaking to media persons, CM Kejriwal said, "We held a meeting on coronavirus where all officials including Delhi Health Minister and LG were there. As I even earlier said that Delhi government is fully prepared to fight coronavirus. We have reviewed all the measures that have been taken so far. We took some more measures. All cinema halls to remain shut in Delhi till 31st March. Schools and colleges where exams are not being held will also remain closed. We have sufficient beds for quarantine or isolation."
