New STPs in Patna to stop sewage flow into Ganga

Patna (Bihar) Jan 26 (ANI): Patna - an ancient city sprawling along the south bank of the Ganga River! Its growing population is leading to an increased outflow of domestic wastewater. However, the existing sewage treatment plants in Patna have long outlived their utility. The old sewer lines are choked and untreated water flows into the Ganga. Under the Namami Gange programme, the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has put in place a comprehensive sewage management plan to ensure that no waste water is discharged into the river. Patna has been divided into 6 zones and new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) are being constructed. In order to revamp the sewage management system in the city, NMCG has approved 11 projects worth over Rs 3,500 crore that will involve laying down 1,140 km of sewerage lines and create sewage treatment capacity of 350 MLD. This would cover the sewage treatment requirements of the city up to 2035, when its sewage generation is estimated to be 320 MLD. Work on

Ketogenic diet may not be healthy: Study

New Delhi, Jan 26 (ANI): According to USA Today, the ketogenic diet involves consuming a low carbohydrate, high fat and high protein diet. Out of the total daily caloric intake, nearly 70 to 80 per cent comes from fat, 20 per cent from protein and the remaining 5 per cent or so are derived from carbohydrates. The carbohydrate deprivation pushes the body into ketosis, which is a state where fat becomes its primary fuel source. Despite its ability to cause rapid weight loss, this dieting approach doesn't find many supporters among medical professionals. The Keto diet is usually not recommended by doctors for the reason that it excludes a wide array of essential food groups that are imperative for optimal health, such as grains, fruits, and some vegetables. Medical professionals caution people to be aware of the difference between weight loss and overall health.
