RS Prasad visits Srinagar to review development work

Srinagar (JandK), Jan 22 (ANI): Union Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on January 22 reached Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar to review the development work in the region. During his visit, the Law and Justice Minister inaugurated many facilities including a woman post office. It is the first post office of its kind in all the Union Territories of the country. On January 23, RS Prasad will visit Baramulla and Sopore to review the development work there.

Closely monitoring situation: Health Secretary on coronavirus

New Delhi, Jan 22 (ANI): Union Health Secretary Preeti Sudan on January 22 reacted on coronavirus which out broke in China. She said that government is prepared and closely monitoring the situation. Sudan added that hospitals have been instructed regarding the virus. She also asserted that administration is also doing close monitoring at the airports. "Our preparedness is very much there and I appeal to people and students coming back home on Chinese New Year from China to do less physical contact with other people and use mask," said Sudan.

Rescuers resume search for seven missing trekkers in Nepal avalanche

Kathmandu (Nepal), Jan 22 (ANI): Clearer weather on Wednesday has raised hopes amongst rescuers searching for missing four South Koreans and three Nepali in Annapurna Trekking Circuit of Nepal which was hit by an avalanche last Friday. After an improvement in the weather conditions, rescuers have stepped up operation in the area from where South Korean trekkers along with their Nepali guides have gone missing. In search of the missing trekkers and their guides, Nepal Mountaineering Association on Wednesday deployed long-line rescue experts Dawa Finju Lama Bhote and Pimba Tenjing Lama. The rescue teams using detectors have been hunted the area where trekkers are suspected to be buried under and have marked the area where they have detected signs that could be related to the missing ones. Despite the ongoing efforts to locate the trekkers, hopes have become bleaker as the area is covered with a thick blanket of snow which would take time to melt. New Delhi, Jan 22 (ANI): A meeting was organised by disinvestment-bound Air India with travel agents to address issues and inform about positive impacts of privatization to travelers through agents. After the meeting, Air India Director (Commercial) Meenakshi Malik said that there is nothing to worry and Air India will change positively. "Air India will fly higher, better with this privatization. We met here so that we address the concerns of travel agents. Mumbai, Jan 22 (ANI): Maharashtra cabinet minister Ashok Chavan said that 24x7 service for Mumbai's selected areas is in talks. He said, "Night life is not a proper word for what we've decided today. It's Mumbai 24x7 service for selected areas of the city. Date of its implementation is yet to be decided. We're looking for safe and secured places. We'll keep police arrangements in mind." Chavan also added that state tax for 'Tanhaji' has been waived off by the state government. He said, "We have decided to waive off our portion in GST (goods and services tax) as State GST comes in our purview. We have also requested the Chief Minister to write to the Centre to waive off Central GST on 'Tanhaji' movie."

Cabinet approves revised cost estimate for permanent NIT campuses

Delhi Police busts inter-state cricket betting racket

New Delhi, 22 January, (ANI): Crime Branch of Delhi Police busted a major inter-state cricket betting racket in Delhi. The gang was operating during the One Day International match between India and Australia in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Information was received by Crime Branch that a betting racket is being operated in Delhi. Accordingly, a team of Crime Branch was formed to bust the gang. Based on specific input, the police team raided a house in Ashoka Niketan, Karkardooma when the match was in progress. The team apprehended 11 persons red-handed at the spot. Arrested persons disclosed that bets worth more than Rs 5 crore had already been placed with them. 74 mobile phones, 7 laptops, 2 LCD TVs and 4 briefcases were recovered from the spot. Further investigation is in progress.

Watch: Scuffle breaks out between lawyers in MP's Satna
