Actor Sushant Singh joins Shaheen Bagh protest against CAA, NRC, NPR

New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): Actor Sushant Singh joined in the protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) at Shaheen Bagh on January 18. Actor Sushant Singh, who hosted the popular crime show for almost a decade, announced on Twitter that he has been asked to quit the show. It is being speculated that one of the reasons for this may be his opinion on the newly amended Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

Bru-Reang agreement is a long lasting solution: Swaraj Kaushal

New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): Former Governor of Mizoram Swaraj Kaushal commended recently signed Bru-Reang agreement presided by Home Minister Amit Shah and asserted that it not an ad-hoc arrangement but a long lasting solution. "The Bru-Reang refugee agreement is to settle them permanently so that they lead a life of dignity. The best thing about this agreement is that it's not an ad-hoc arrangement. This agreement is a solution that will last," said Swaraj Kaushal. "It's not Bru-Reangs, these are Indian citizens. These tribes are all along India's border with Bangladesh, they are your first line of defence. You cannot ignore them. There is human compassion and national security angle to it... Now New Delhi has heard, redressed Bru-Reang refugee problem," he further added.

30 swine flu cases found positive in Telangana

Hyderabad, Jan 19 (ANI): Over 150 swine flu cases were reported in Telangana in January. Health officials expect rise in cases in coming days. Dr Shankar, Director, Institute of Preventive Medicine Telangana told ANI, "It is noticed that compared to last year, swine flu cases number is less. This year till now in January month we have tested around 370 swine flu suspected cases in which 30 were found positive. After dengue season swine flu starts in September month every year and will persist till February." "The Swine Flu cases may increase in the coming days; the government of Telangana has already alerted all the medical staff across the state regarding swine flu cases. In this season a total of around 200 swine flu positive cases expected and public should take all measures to protect themselves from fatal diseases."

Ratwara (Punjab), Jan 19 (ANI): While section of society seems to be divided on religious lines, a Hindu man has set an example of communal harmony. Lakhan displayed his humanitarian side by taking care of paralyzed Muslim boy Asif, after the latter's family left him. Asif met with an accident recently which caused him severe backbone injury resulting in paralysis. Lakhan helped Asif and brought him to Sikh Foundation named 'Serve Humanity, Serve God Organization', for treatment.

"Marathi people in Belgaum (Karnataka) and adjacent areas have been fighting since 70 years, to be included in Maharashtra. Matter is before Supreme Court but it has been sub-judice since 14 years. We will accept whatever the Supreme Court decides. Lakhs of Marathi people live here, they will follow their language and culture," said Sanjay Raut.

Have to follow CAA until SC intervenes: Salman Khurshid

New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, on Kapil Sibal's statement in CAA "Constitutionally, it will be difficult for a state government to not to follow law passed by Parliament," Congress leader Salman Khurshid said that without intervention of Supreme Court CAA will remain in statute book and we have to follow. "If Supreme Court doesn't interfere it will remain on statute book. If something's on statute book, you have to obey law, else there are consequences. It's a matter where state governments have a very serious difference of opinion with centre as far as this law is concerned. So we would wait for final pronouncement made by SC. Ultimately SC will decide and till then everything said/done/not done is provisional and tentative," said Salman Khurshid.

The main aim behind the new station is to create fear-free atmosphere for children. Police station has been decorated with wall paintings and also consists of play area. The democratic dividend in India is not in any other country. You could not give job to any one in 5.5 years and that's why RSS is saying to make two child policy. 60% of the population in India is under the age of 40, they will not talk about it as they could not give them jobs."

No state can deny implementation of CAA: Kapil Sibal

Kozhikode (Kerala), Jan 19 (ANI): Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal on Saturday said that no state can say that it will not implement the Citizenship Amendment Act, as doing so will be unconstitutional. "All states are unhappy with the CAA, NRC and NPR and this message should be sent to the Union level. But, at another level, NPR is to be implemented by the local registrar," Kapil Sibal said on the sidelines of the Kerala Literature Festival here. He further said that "constitutionally, it will be difficult for any state government to say that 'I will not follow a law passed by Parliament'.
