New Delhi, Jan 16 (ANI): A group of protesters created ruckus at an event organised by RSS- affiliate Muslim Rashtriya Manch for supporting Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in New Delhi on January 16. They showed banners and raised slogans against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). RSS leader Indresh Kumar was also present on the stage.

Indian Army gets training to battle extreme winter condition in Gulmarg

Gulmarg (JandK), Jan 16 (ANI): Brave hearts Army officials get trained at Indian Army's High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) in JandK's Gulmarg for Avalanche rescues and to safeguard LOC. Soldiers trained themselves in heavy snowfall at high altitude areas. They learned skiing and walking in the snow. They also learned to make igloos to survive in the snow-covered areas.

Chandigarh University students invent 'Queen Belt' for women's safety

Kharar (Punjab), Jan 16 (ANI): In a time where rape cases are increasing at alarming rate, a group of students from Chandigarh University have invented a device for women's safety. The students have invented a special belt named 'Queen Belt' to protect women against the crime. The 'Queen Belt' looks like an ordinary belt, but has a small circuit with mobile sim card and GPS tracking system fitted inside. In a situation of attack, the belt gets opened forcibly, and the mobile sim sends a distress message to the loved ones.

BJP office set ablaze in WB's Bankura

Bankura (West Bengal), Jan 16 (ANI): A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office was set on fire in West Bengal's Bankura on January 16, days after another party office was put on fire in Asansol. The incident happened at Chandai gram area under Barjora Police Station. BJP has alleged that All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) is behind the incident. Three days ago, a BJP office was also set ablaze in Asansol.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Jan 16 (ANI): While addressing media persons, after Kerala government challenged the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Supreme Court, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said that the state government should have informed him before going to Supreme Court. "I have no issue with them going to Supreme Court but they should have informed me first. I being constitutional head come to know about it through newspapers. Clearly, I am not just a rubber stamp. This is breach of protocol and breach of courtesy. I will look into it whether the state government can go to the SC without the approval of the Governor. If not the approval, they could have just informed me," said Kerala Governor.

Lalu Yadav produced before special CBI court in fodder scam case

Ranchi (Jharkhand), Jan 16 (ANI): Former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav was produced before a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on January 16. He was produced before the court in connection with a fodder scam case. Lalu Prasad Yadav is currently undergoing medical treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Jharkhand's Ranchi. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo is serving jail term for fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3.5 crore from the Dumka treasury by Animal Husbandry Department officials between 1991 and 1996 when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the undivided state's chief minister.

New Delhi, Jan 16 (ANI): While addressing the Raisina Dialogue 2020 in the national capital, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Bipin Rawat talked about the functioning of Chief of Defence Staff and called the person in position first among equals. "CDS is the first among equals but he has got clear and well defined responsibilities. While he is the first among equals, he has some authority over the three service chiefs except on operational issues. I think the task is well cut out and we will be able to function within the firm framework which has been laid out for the CDS. I don't visualise any problems. We've had meetings with the 3 chiefs and a lot of decisions have already been taken in past 15 days," said CDS.

Bhind man who makes Rs 6000/month gets tax notice to explain transactions of Rs 132 crore

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), Jan 16 (ANI): A resident of Bhind in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior, Ravi Gupta, who makes Rs 6000 per month, got tax notice to explain transactions of Rs 132 crore in his name. The transactions were done from an account opened on his name in Axis Bank. Gupta called it a forge account and reportedly he makes just Rs 6,000 per month. Speaking on it, Gupta said, "This matter was reported by Axis Bank. The account was opened in 2011 in Mumbai branch and there were transactions of Rs 132 crore in this and in relation with it, the Income Tax Department had sent me notices several times. Income tax (department) is demanding Rs 3.5 crores. The bank account is not opened by me. Somebody else has opened this account or maybe Axis bank has opened it on their own."
