Delhi Assembly elections: BJP organises bike rally

New Delhi, Jan 09 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters took out bike rally from party state office as part of its Assembly elections campaign. BJP MP Meenakashi Lekhi was present at the event. Speaking at the event, Lekhi said, "This is a formal start. Everyone is in favour of the BJP's policies. When you see around that everyone is trying to make BJP win in Delhi." Delhi elections will be held on February 08, while the counting of votes will take place on February 11.

Gangster Ejaz Lakdawala's daughter gave information about him: Joint CP of Mumbai Police

Mumbai, Jan 09 (ANI): Gangster Ejaz Lakdawala was arrested from Patna by Mumbai Police's anti extortion cell on Jan 08. He is remanded to police custody till January 21 by Court. Speaking on Ejaz Lakdawala's arrest, Joint Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Santosh Rastogi said, "Ejaz Lakadwala's daughter was in our custody since December 28. She gave a lot of information to us. Our sources also told us about his arrival in Patna, he was arrested in Jattanpur Police Station limits. On the basis of this information, with the help of Bihar Police, we countercheck him and for verification, we brought him here in Mumbai. On Jan 08 at 10:30 pm, we arrested him in Mumbai."

World Bank pegs India's growth at 5pc in FY20, projects recovery next year

New Delhi, Jan 09(ANI): The World Bank has projected India's growth at 5% in the current financial year 2019-20 which is set to recover to 5.8% in the following fiscal year. "weakness in credit from non-bank financial companies is expected to linger"- Said World Bank in its latest semi-annual Global Economic Prospects report. Globally, the bank projected that economic growth is projected to recover 2.5% in 2020 from 2.4% in 2019 also the bank has noted that downside risk persists that might have an impact on the world's growth

Mumbai Police arrests gangster Ejaz Lakdawala

Mumbai, Jan 09 (ANI): Gangster Ejaz Lakdawala was arrested from Patna by Mumbai Police's anti extortion cell on Jan 08. He is remanded to police custody till January 21 by court. Speaking on it, Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Sanjay Barve said, "Gangster Ejaz Lakdawala, who used to do extortion call to give threats to people, is arrested by Mumbai City Crime Branch in Patna. We presented him before the court today. He is remanded to police custody till January 21 by Court. We have 25 cases in Mumbai city and we have contacted various units in Maharashtra as well as other states to find out how many all cases are out there in total. We are collecting the information on it."

Former CM Raman Singh's PA arrested for sexually assaulting minor

Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Jan 09 (ANI): Personal Assistant (PA) to former Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh, OP Gupta was arrested on January 08 for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl. Raipur ASP, Praful Thakur said, "The girl used to live at his residence. A case has been registered under sections 376 and 506 of Indian Penal Code and POSCO Act."

Equity indices trade higher amid easing geopolitical tensions

New Delhi, Jan 9 (ANI): Equity benchmark parameters edged higher during early hours on Jan 09. This came after the remarks by US President Donald Trump that eased fears of a larger conflict with Iran. AT 10:15 am, BSE SandP Sensex was up by 404 points to 41,221 while Nifty 50 ticked up by 126 points at 12,151. Except for Nifty IT which dipped slightly, all sectoral indices were in the positive zone. Nifty PSU bank gained by 1.97 per cent each, realty by 1.85 per cent and metal by 1.27 per cent.

North India reels under cold waves

Ludhiana (Punjab) / Varanasi (UP) / Mount Abu (Rajasthan), Jan 09 (ANI): Temperature has dipped down in North India once again after snowfall in hilly regions. Parts of North India have also received rainfall on Jan 08 which contributed in cold weather. Punjab's Ludhiana is reeling under cold waves. Locals flock to tea stalls to keep themselves warm and also took support of bonfires to beat the cold weather. Temperature also dipped several degrees in Varanasi as well. Cold increased in Rajasthan's Mount Abu too. The chilly weather will continue in coming weeks too.
