Guwahati (Assam), Dec 15 (ANI): Regional Executive Director of Airports Authority of India (AAI) of North-East Sanjeev Jindal informed that airports in the region are fully functional and only few flights have been cancelled amid protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Act. "Only six out of 65 flights were cancelled from Guwahati Airport and we are providing all the facilities inside airport to facilitate flyers," said Sanjeev Jindal.
Dumka (Jharkhand), Dec 15 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned Congress for holding protest outside the Indian High Commission in London against Citizenship (Amendment) Act in Jharkhand's Dumka. Criticising the move, PM Modi said, "For the first time ever, Congress did the same thing which Pakistan used to do. What can be more shameful than this? Does any Indian protest in front of Indian embassy?" Congress workers held 'Bharat Bachao' protest in front of High Commission in London alongside protest at Ram Leela Maidan on December 14.
Dumka (Jharkhand), Dec 15 (ANI): While addressing public rally in Jharkhand's Dumka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Government saved the country by bringing Citizenship (Amendment) Act. "Congress and their allies are giving silent support to what is happening (incidents of violence over Citizenship Amendment Act). These scenes are strengthening country's confidence that Modi, Parliament, and the government saved the country by bringing the Act," said PM Modi.
Mumbai, Dec 15 (ANI): A delegation of Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank met Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on December 15. After the meeting, a delegation member Gurjyot Singh Keer told media, "CM has assured us that he is with us and he will meet us once again next week. He asked his management to look into the issue. We are confident that CM will help us. We're thankful to him." Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed regulatory restrictions on the PMC Bank for six months in September. The restriction was imposed over alleged financial irregularities.
Mumbai, Dec 15 (ANI): Supporters of Veer Savarkar staged a protest against Rahul Gandhi over his statement on December 15. Protesters burned poster of Rahul Gandhi and demanded him to apologise. Rahul Gandhi had said in a public rally that he would not apologise for his "rape in India" remark as his name is not Rahul Savarkar.
Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 15 (ANI): Former cricketer Praveen Kumar has denied the allegation of hitting his neighbour and his 7-year-old son in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut. Speaking to ANI, Praveen Kumar said, "Everybody knows that I am an international player. I myself have two kids. Why would I push a kid? The moment I got out of the car, he punched me on the face. Then his father came. He also hit me." He further added, "I am a role model, would I hit anybody? These people are lying." Police has been investigating the matter.
New Delhi, Dec 15 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor launched a scathing attack on central government for implementing Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) across the state. In his statement, Tharoor said that Citizenship Amendment Act affects India's foreign relations. "The people in the govt have the nasty habit of demonising any dissent as anti-national. They have no other records. They are not prepared to understand that their decisions are anti-national. We have the democratic right to protest. We are seeing violence and major destruction of property. This was a completely unnecessary decision by the govt. The consequences even for our foreign relations have been terrible. The Japanese PM cancelled his trip. Bangladeshi ministers have cancelled their trips. The entire country is wondering why we must repeatedly be the subject to the whims and fancies of an irresponsible and inapt government," said Tharoor.
Mumbai, Dec 15 (ANI): Delegation of PMC Bank depositors met CM Thackeray at Matoshree on Dec 15. Hundreds of Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank account holders protested outside Matoshree in Mumbai on Dec 15. Matoshree is the residence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Some of the protesters were detained by the police.
New Delhi, Dec 15 (ANI): Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora said that the move of BJP's ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) to approach Supreme Court against Citizenship (Amendment) Act is nonsense. He said, "Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) approaching the Supreme Court against Citizenship Act is simply an eyewash. But actually, AGP is in connivance with BJP."
New Delhi, Dec 15 (ANI): Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Sunday said that the entire North-East especially Assam region has been engulfed in violence, adding that the state has become the new Kashmir. He said, "It is a matter of concern that the entire North-East, especially Assam region has been engulfed in violence. Assam is recognised as a strategically important place for the country. On one hand, it is Kashmir valley and on the other, the new Kashmir, Assam." After the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 passed from both the houses, several incidents occurred in North-East.
Nagpur (Maharashtra), Dec 15 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal on Sunday said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has his own thoughts about Savarkar. While speaking to ANI, he said, "When it comes to big personalities, not everyone agrees on everything. Rahul has his own thoughts about Savarkar. Savarkar had said cow is not our mother but BJP says it is. Savarkar's thought was also 'gyanvadi' but can BJP accept it? They can't." Earlier, Rahul said that he "will die but never apologise" for speaking the "truth" as he is a Gandhi and not a Savarkar. He was responding to the government which had asked him to apologise for "Rape in India" remark at a recent rally.
Guwahati (Assam), Dec 15 (ANI): Group of artists from Assam staged protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Act in Guwahati. The concert was themed 'No CAA, Concert for peace and harmony'. A protestor said, "The reason is quite clear to the entire nation. Assamese community is protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. It is because it's threat to our indigenous identity." Nationwide protest stirred against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill which turned into an Act after receiving assent from President Kovind earlier this week.
Mumbai, Dec 15 (ANI): Ranjeet Savarkar, grandson of Veer Savarkar, on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remark that "my name is not Rahul Savarkar and I will never apologise for truth" over his 'rape in India', said that government should take criminal action against the former Congress chief. "No one should say disrespectful words about him (Veer Savarkar). The government should take criminal action against Rahul Gandhi," said Veer Savarkar's grandson.
Mumbai, Dec 15 (ANI): Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank depositors staged a protest in Mumbai, demanding to lift imposition over their money deposited in the scam-ridden bank. They protested outside Reserve Bank of India office. The PMC Bank has around 16 lakh depositors and was placed under an RBI administrator on September 23 for six months due to massive under-reporting of due loans.

Patna (Bihar), Dec 15 (ANI): Union Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Giriraj Singh on December 15 called for nation-wide implementation of National Register of Citizens (NRC) with special emphasis on Bihar and West Bengal. "NRC should be implemented across the country, including Bihar and West Bengal," Singh told ANI in Patna. Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the start of Winter Parliament Session had announced that NRC will be conducted to filter out illegal immigrants. NRC was conducted in Assam where 1.9 million were declared foreigners.
Giridih (Jharkhand), Dec 15 (ANI): While addressing a public rally in Jharkhand's Giridih on Dec 14, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured to solve the problem of Meghalaya positively over impact of Citizenship Amendment Act on the state. "Yesterday Chief Minister of Meghalaya met with me. He requested for some change, I told him we will solve the problem of Meghalaya positively. Nobody needs to fear," said Shah.
Nagpur (Maharashtra), Dec 15 (ANI): While speaking to ANI in Nagpur on December 15, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar spoke on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's dig at Veer Savarkar. He said, "This is a national level issue. But, I personally believe that we should give more emphasis to issues like-Maharashtra farmers, unemployment and inflation etc." On being asked if Savarkar issue will affect 'Maha Vikas Aghadi' (NCP-Congress-Shiv Sena) alliance in Maharashtra, he added, "Uddhav Thackeray, Sonia Gandhi and Sharad Pawar are mature people and they will make the right call." The former Congress chief on December 14 had said his name is not Rahul Savarkar and will not apologise for his "rape in India" remark.
Gaya (Bihar), Dec 15 (ANI): A group of unidentified miscreants attacked car of Bihar BJP Mahila Morcha vice-president Shobha Sinha. The incident happened near Mirza Ghalib College in Gaya. Speaking on the incident, Sinha said, "The miscreants as soon as they saw BJP flag on my car started to chant slogans against the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and attacked my car."
Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 15 (ANI): A 43-year-old man was allegedly beaten up by some men in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida on December 14. Lokesh was beaten up for selling biryani. The incident took place in Rabupura area of Greater Noida. While speaking to ANI, the Additional SP (R/A) of GautamBuddha Nagar, Kumar Ran Vijay Singh said, "We saw the video yesterday and then investigation was initiated. The victim was identified and called to the police station for all the details. Case registered against 3 men. Incident took place in Rabupura area. Search for the accused is underway."
