Schools in TN's Tiruchirappalli closed in view of heavy rain

Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu), Nov 29 (ANI): In past few days, heavy rain lashed in Tamil Nadu's Tiruchirappalli district. Due to heavy rain predictions, all schools in the district have been closed. According to forecast, heavy rain is likely to occur in parts of Tamil Nadu.

Delhi's air quality improves to 'satisfactory'

New Delhi, Nov 29 (ANI): The air quality of Delhi has improved on Nov 29. According to AQI, major pollutant PM 2.5 was at 76 in 'satifactory' category and PM 10 was at 78 in 'satifactory' category at Lodhi Road. To curb air pollution, Delhi government had earlier implemented odd-even scheme from Nov 04-15.

7,000 graduates applied for 549 grade-1 sanitary worker posts in TN's Coimbatore

Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Nov 29 (ANI): Almost 7,000 graduates including engineers applied for jobs in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore. They applied for 549 grade-1 sanitary worker posts in Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC). Applicants appeared for 3-day interview and verification of certificates. Those already working as contract sanitary workers for last 10 years have also applied for these permanent jobs.

Twitter's updated plan of removing dormant accounts to impact EU

New Delhi, Nov 29 (ANI): After it was reported that Twitter will remove accounts that have been dormant for very long, the micro-blogging site has come up with more details surrounding the plan.The company said the process "impacts accounts in the EU only, for now." "We've heard you on the impact that this would have on the accounts of the deceased. This was a miss on our part," the company tweeted on Thursday. "We will not be removing any inactive accounts until we create a new way for people to memorize accounts," it continued. Earlier, it was reported that any account inactive for over six months could be subject to removal if customers do not log in to their accounts by December 11.

Shiv Sena-NCP-Cong govt to have 2 coordination committees: Jayant Patil

Mumbai, Nov 29 (ANI): NCP leader Jayant Patil said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance) government to have two coordination committees. "Within the government there will be a coordination committee of six ministers including the Chief Minister. There will be an external committee which will guide the government so as to achieve its goals," Patil told reporters. Patil, who took oath as minister in Maharashtra government today, was appointed as the legislative leader of NCP earlier this week.

Massive fire breaks out at heritage house in Nainital

Nainital (Uttarakhand), Nov 29 (ANI): A devastating fire broke out at a heritage house in Sherwani area of Uttarakhand's Nainital. However, fire brigade workers rescued occupants safely. The reason behind fire is unknown and no injuries were reported.

Uttarakhand govt decides to set up Char Dham shrine board, Kedarnath MLA opposes

Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Nov 29 (ANI): The Uttarakhand government has decided to set up a Char Dham shrine board to run the affairs of the four Himalayan shrines including 51 famous temples located in the state. "Once formed, Chief Minister of the state would head the board as its chairperson. Three MPs, six MLAs, several secretaries and priests of the char dhams will also be included as members in the board," Uttarakhand Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik said.The proposed law to oversee temples would provide for a Hindu cabinet minister to be the chairperson of the board in case a Muslim becomes the chief minister. However, Kedarnath MLA Manoj Rawat said that the government is doing this because they are eyeing the temples donation.

Nitish Kumar should be given Nobel Prize for contributing to climate protection: JD(U) MLC

Patna (Bihar), Nov 29 (ANI): Janata Dal (United) MLC Khalid Anwar has demanded Nobel Prize for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for latter's contribution in climate protection. "I don't want the Nobel Prize for Nitish Kumar, rather I want it for the leader of 12 crore people of Bihar, who today is Nitish Kumar. The basis of my demand is that in 2007, Nobel Prize was given for climate change to ex-American Vice President Al Gore. Like him, even Nitish Kumar is working for climate. For the first time, Nitish ji held a joint session on climate change in July. He again held a special session on it today. He has allocated a big-budget towards the cause, which should be recognised nationally and internationally," Anwar told ANI.

CFG acquires majority stake in ISL's Mumbai City FC: Nita Ambani

Mumbai, Nov 29 (ANI): City Football Group (CFG) has acquired a majority stake in Mumbai City FC of the Indian Super League on November 28. The news was revealed in front of the Club's fans by Chairperson of Football Sports Development Limited and Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani. CFG will become the 65 per cent majority shareholder of the Club, alongside existing shareholders, Ranbir Kapoor and Bimal Parekh who jointly hold the remaining 35 per cent of shares. CFG's operations will now include eight football clubs and football-related businesses in 13 offices around the world.

Security tightened in Latehar ahead of Jharkhand polls from Nov 30

Latehar (Jharkhand), Nov 29 (ANI): As Jharkhand is gearing up to hold assembly elections from November 30, security arrangements have been tightened in Latehar, one of the 13 constituencies, which will vote in the first phase. All of the 13 constituencies fall under Naxal-infested area. "There are two assembly constituencies in Latehar district-Manika and Latehar. We've completed security preparations. We are ready to conduct the polls peacefully. Security forces have also been deployed at various places. Hypersensitive booths have been divided into clusters, super clusters and zones," said Zeeshan Qamar, Deputy Commissioner, Latehar. The 81-member assembly state will go to polls in five-phase between November 30 and December 20. Counting of votes will take place on December 23.

Baby boys born to older mothers likely to develop heart problems later

New Delhi, Nov 29 (ANI): Women who get pregnant in old age generally suffer changes in the placenta, which in turn, means that baby boys being born to such mothers are more likely to develop heart problems later in life, a new study has found. Changes occur in the placenta in older pregnant mothers which leads to a greater likelihood of poor health in their male offsprings, pointed out the study published in the journal Scientific Reports.Both male and female fetuses do not grow as large in older mothers, but there are sex-specific differences in changes to placental development and function. These are likely to play a central role in the increased likelihood of later-life heart problems and high blood pressure in males.

Tribal entrepreneur sets up her own pizza centre in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Nov 29 (ANI): A tribal entrepreneur has realised her dream of setting up a pizza centre named as 'Cheesiano Pizza' in Hyderabad. She was graduated under first batch of Chief Minister Scheduled Tribe Entrepreneurship and Innovation Scheme (CMSTEI) scheme in Hyderabad. Under the CMSTEI, Indian School of Business welcomed 100 youngsters from some of the most backward tribes like Andh, Chenchu, Pardhan, Koya, Thoti and Yerukula and from different districts of Telangana.

Uddhav Thackeray mentions Constitution when asked about Shiv Sena turning secular

Mumbai, Nov 29 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray reacted to questions of secularism. On being asked whether the Shiv Sena was becoming secular since the party has forged alliance with the Congress and NCP, Thackeray replied, "First you tell me what is the meaning of secular. Hyderabad, Nov 28 (ANI): A software engineer from Hyderabad, Ram Dosapati has started a unique campaign to spread awareness against use of single-use plastic among people. He started 'avoid single use plastic' campaign in which he asks people to bring plastic bags and bottles to him and take away beautiful plants in exchange. It is not his first campaign against single use plastic bags, he started his first campaign in 2017 in which he got appreciation from people. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also started a nationwide campaign against single-use plastic, he also urged countrymen to join this fight.

Women cops of Delhi Police get fleet of pink scooters

New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): Delhi Police formed a special patrolling team of 16 women constables in the North-East district. The women constables have been given eight pink coloured two-wheelers. The team will patrol streets in shifts (11am-1pm and 5pm-7pm). A woman constable said, "Aim behind choosing pink color is to build confidence in women so that they can approach us without hesitation.
