Need more land for Ram Mandir 'township' to attract tourists: Architect Chandrakant Sompura

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Nov 17 (ANI): On Nov 09, SC gave verdict on Ayodhya case and pronounced to make Ram Temple. Architect Chandrakant Sompura made design for the Ram Temple. While speaking to ANI, architect Chandrakant Sompura said, "For only Ram Mandir, we need 270 feet 142 feet land. But for the whole township, we need more land. To attract the people and foreigners, it should be made like a big township. Right now, in the project we have hall for food, Pujari quarters', Bhogshala, place for people to stay. And, to attract people it should also have hospital, hotels." When asked if new committee asks him to bring some change in designs, Sompura said, "If new committee says to bring some changes in the design then it will be changed only if it is in accordance with the 'shastra'. If it's not according to shashtra, we will not change the design and even we might leave the project as well."

Swami Vivekananda statue's vandalism recorded, action will be taken soon: JNU

New Delhi, Nov 17 (ANI): Recently, the statue of Swami Vivekananda located inside JNU campus was vandalised by some miscreants amid protests against fee hike and several other issues. While addressing a press conference, JNU administration criticised the vandalism and stated that action will be taken against those who will be found guilty. "Condemn the vandalism done by students. Everything has been recorded. Action will be taken against culprits according to the university guidelines," said Umesh Ashok Kadam, JNU Professor.

FIR lodged against violent protestors in Unnao: Superintendent of Police

Unnao (Uttar Pradesh), Nov 17 (ANI): A clash broke out between farmers and police on Nov 16. Farmers alleged that they have not received adequate compensation for land acquired for Trans Ganga City project. Unnao SP, Madhawa Prasad Verma said, "Villagers and some miscreants had attacked UP State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) officials and their vehicles. UPSIDC lodged FIR against 8 named and 200 unidentified people. Investigation on, action will be taken against accused soon."

HM Amit Shah inaugurates Special Grade Diesel supply in Ladakh

New Delhi, Nov 17 (ANI): Home Minister Amit Shah launched the supply of 'Special Grade Diesel' in Ladakh, via video conferencing on November 17. Besides Shah, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan was present at the launch. BJP MP from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal also attended the launch. Sri Lanka presidential polls: Rajapaksa claims victory as Premadasa concedes defeat

Nov 17 (ANI): Gotabaya Rajapaksa has claimed victory in the Sri Lankan presidential polls and his main opponent Sajith Premadasa of the ruling United National Party has conceded defeat, even as the official results are yet to be announced. After local media reported that Rajapaksa won 53-54 per cent of the vote, Premadasa issued a statement on Sunday, "At the conclusion of a hard-fought and spirited election campaign, it is my privilege to honour the decision of the people and congratulate Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa on his election as the seventh President of Sri Lanka." 4th edition of WNC Navy Half Marathon organised in Mumbai

Devotees throng to offer prayers at Kerala's Sabarimala Temple

AQI under 'poor' category in NCR

Thick layer of smog once again enveloped the sky in Noida and Ghaziabad on November 17. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, major pollutant in Noida is at 221 which shows 'poor' category. Maize crops damaged due to incessant rain in Karnataka's Shivamogga

Shivamogga (Karnataka), Nov 17: The unseasonal rains have wreaked havoc in Karnataka by not only disturbing the daily life of the people but also destroying the maize farms, which is one of the major commercial crops of the state. The incessant rain in early harvesting season from September to November has caused severe damage which has made the yield per hectare nose dive and the remaining produce to be sold off at lower rates.
