New Delhi, Aug 01 (ANI): Resident doctors sat on strike in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) today in the national capital. They are protesting against National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill, 2019. Resident Doctors Association is observing a one-day strike against provisions of National Medical Commission Bill across the nation today. While speaking to ANI on the issue, one of the Resident Doctors said, "Our strike is against some provisions of NMC Bill. Resident doctors have been withdrawn from services. Faculty and consultants are providing services. If government doesn't listen to us, then it would be counted as one of the blackest days in history of medical fraternity."
Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Aug 01 (ANI): A man was abducted and killed allegedly by three of his relatives including two maternal-uncles in Jodhpur's Chamu village. While sharing details of the case, SHO of Jodhpur Kishan Singh said, "In the afternoon, we received information about a man being abducted and beaten. Our ASI immediately rushed to the place of incident. The police found the victim in a grievously injured state and rushed him to the hospital. He was declared brought dead by doctors." "The kin gave a complaint against three people including the maternal-uncle of the victim. We have registered FIR and postmortem of the victim was done," he added. Based on the complaint of the relatives a case has been registered, three accused namely Mangaram, Premaram and Achlaram have been detained. "Two of these are maternal uncle of the victim and third is also a relative. We are interrogating the accused. Prima facie it is revealed that the deceased was reportedly harassing accused's niece. Dumka (Jharkhand), Aug 01 (ANI): A thief was allegedly beaten to death in Jharkhand's Dumka district. The incident took place in Chihuntia village of Dumka district. While speaking to ANI, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dumka said, "There were four thieves but three managed to escape. The thief, who died was a most wanted criminal. First Information Report (FIR) has been registered and four villagers have been taken into custody. We are questioning them."

Bangkok (Thailand), Aug 01: External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar met Foreign Affairs Minister of Thailand, Don Pramudwinai in Bangkok. Meanwhile, he also met Foreign Affairs Minister of New Zealand, Winston Peters. S Jaishankar has travelled to Bangkok for the East Asia Summit (EAS) and ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) which is to be held on Thursday and Friday respectively amid heightened tensions prevailing between China and Vietnam in the South China Sea region following aggression by the Chinese coast guard since early July. The visit will enable Jaishankar to meet his counterparts from the region and beyond, including the United Nations Security Council's five permanent members.
The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday passed a bill to tighten road traffic regulations such as issuance of driving licence and imposed stricter penalties for violations in an attempt to improve road safety. The legislation provides for stricter punishment for various traffic related offences as well as higher penalties, including a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for death and Rs 2.5 lakh for grievous injury in a motor vehicle accident case. Hapur (UP), Aug 01 (ANI): A video of 'kanwariyas,' drinking liquor has gone viral. The incident happened at Garh Mukteshwar ghat in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur. Police has registered a case and further action will be taken. While speaking to ANI on the incident, ASP of Hapur, Sarvesh Mishra said, "The kanwariyas were seen drinking liquor in an area, where it is prohibited. It's illegal. Those people are being identified. Legal action will be taken."
Umaria (Madhya Pradesh), Aug 01 (ANI): A tiger cub aged between 15 and 18 months was found dead in Madhya Pradesh's Umaria district on July 30. The incident took place in Ghunghuti forest range. Madhya Pradesh was declared as India's 'Tiger State' with 526 tigers following the All India Tiger Estimation Report 2018 released on July 29. Madhya Pradesh has lost three tigers, including two cubs and a tigress, in the last three days. No external injury was detected on the cub's carcass during the autopsy.

However, citizens of Maharashtra's Amravati district were in surprise on Wednesday after they spotted their local parliamentarian and legislator taking part in a massive mosquito fogging drive across the city. Lok Sabha MP from Amravati, Navneet Rana and her husband and MLA from the constituency Ravi Rana did mosquito fogging across the city, yesterday. New Delhi, Aug 01 (ANI): Popular apps including Snapchat, Facebook and YouTube may come under fire if the US government agrees to pass a bill that seeks to ban apps exploiting human psychology.According to The Guardian, the Social Media Addiction Reduction Technology (Smart) Act is a proposed bill that targets techniques and features which encourage and deepen addictive behaviours.It specifically seeks to prohibit practices including infinite scrolling as seen on Facebook newsfeed, autoplay videos such as those on YouTube, and badges or awards linked to engagement such as Snapstreaks.Republican Senator Josh Hawley who has proposed the bill argues that the companies behind such apps are using psychological tricks to keep users hooked.

Rampur (UP), Aug 01 (ANI): Samajwadi Party MLA Abdullah Azam Khan, son of SP MP Azam Khan, held candle light protest in front of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University. He was detained earlier today for causing obstruction during police's search operation at University and was later released on a personal bond. While talking to ANI, he alleged that there is a 'gundaraj' of administration and police as police didn't have search warrant. "This University is our heritage, we can't let it go, and we will save it. They can arrest us if they want," said Abdullah Azam Khan. UP officials raided Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur over 'stolen' books on Tuesday.
