Flights got cancelled due to heavy rains in Mumbai

Mumbai, July 02 (ANI): Heavy rain has lashed Mumbai and its neighbouring areas and the downpur has entered its fifth day today. Several flights got cancelled due to heavy and continuous rains in Mumbai today. They stranded at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport as 54 flights have been diverted and 52 got cancelled. Mumbai witnessed heavy rains with the downpour resulting in water logging in several areas of the city. The passengers are facing various problems at the airport due to the delay in flights. Maharashtra government has also declared public holiday in Mumbai today.

Several injured after private bus falls into gorge in AP's Vizianagaram

Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh), July 02 (ANI): Several passengers sustained injuries after a private bus they were travelling in plunged into a gorge at Vizianagaram on Tuesday morning. Around 25 passengers were travelling on the bus, however, the exact number of injuries is yet to be confirmed by the police. Soon after the incident was reported, police rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. Injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Not BMC's failure but an accident: says Sanjay Raut on Mumbai wall collapse incident

New Delhi, July 02 (ANI): While speaking regarding the wall collapsed in Pimpripada, Malad East due to heavy rainfall, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, "It's not BMC's failure. It is an accident. It is because of heavy rainfall. There are several illegal constructions in Mumbai and BMC has nothing to do with it." Earlier, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis visited the Shatabdi Hospital to meet the 13 people injured in the Malad wall collapse incident.

18 people die in wall collapse in Mumbai's Malad

Mumbai, July 02 (ANI): Atleast 18 persons died, while 13 others sustained injuries after a wall collapsed near a school in Pimpripada area of Malad East on Tuesday night. A compound wall collapsed on the hutments due to heavy downpour. While speaking to ANI, NDRF Inspector Rajendra Patil said, "In the search by advance equipment, canine search and physical search no more bodies were found so search operation is now being closed." Thirteen people have been admitted to the trauma centre at Jogeshwari and Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali. Some people were rescued by the public before the arrival of the fire brigade and NDRF team.

Harsh Vardhan visits vandalised temple in Delhi, appeals residents to maintain harmony

New Delhi, July 02 (ANI): Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and BJP MP from Chandni Chowk, Harsh Vardhan visited Delhi's Hauz Qazi on Tuesday. A clash broke out between 2 groups over parking and a temple was vandalised on Sunday night. Security in the area has been tightened. While speaking to media personnel on the issue, Harsh Vardhan said, "It is very unfortunate and painful. The kind of thing done to the temple is unforgivable. I have been told that Police is already in action, culprits will be arrested soon and punished. I appeal to the people to maintain harmony."

New STPs, ghats to keep Ganga water unpolluted in Haridwar

Haridwar, Uttarakhand July 2, 2019 (ANI): A growing metropolis and hub of religious tourism, the ancient city of Haridwar attracts lakhs of tourists every year to take a holy dip in river Ganga. With rising population and high inflow of visitors, the city generates over 108-Million litres of sewage per day, but its existing sewage treatment plants can treat only half of it. So, to prevent the discharge of sewage into the river, several initiatives have been taken by the government under the Nanami Gange programme. Out of 22 major drains in Haridwar, 21 of them have been completely tapped and the flow has been diverted. The capacity of Sewage Treatment Plants (or STPs) is also being enhanced by constructing new facilities. 68 MLD STP at Jagjeetpur and 14 MLD STP at Sarai are near completion. Forest Range officers plant saplings to protest against TRS attack in Telangana

Asifabad (Telangana), July 02 (ANI): Scores of Forest Range officers came together in a show of unity here on Monday to protest against the attack by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) workers and their supporters on their colleagues and police recently. As many as 400 officials took part in this plantation drive, including 50 policemen, and planted saplings as a way of responding to the assault. Adilabad and Warangal Forest Department officers, including DFOs, also participated in the event. It was organised not only to boost the morale of the department but also to ensure that the plain land is converted into a forest. Samsung CEO admits galaxy fold wasn't ready
