Kolkata, Jul 02 (ANI): Final touches are being given to the preparations for Jagannath Rath Yatra festival at Kolkata's Iskcon. The yatra is all set to begin on July 04. Several devotees and artists from all over the world are set to participate in the festival. The festivities will conclude on July 12. West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee is expected to inaugurate the rath yatra in Kolkata.
New Delhi, Jul 01 (ANI): Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia challenged Bharatiya Janata Party president of Delhi, Manoj Tiwari over corruption allegation against him. He said, "I want to challenge Manoj Tiwari and BJP, if an accused of Rs 2,000 crore scam is roaming free in Delhi, nothing can be more shameful for you. If Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia have committed scam, arrest them. Either arrest me by the evening, or apologise to public." Earlier, in a press conference on Monday, Manoj Tiwari put corruption allegations against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia over construction of schools.

Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), Jul 01 (ANI): A unique initiative has been taken by the government to curb malnutrition in Chhattisgarh's Dentewada. The Chhattisgarh government is providing free food to tribal kids and pregnant women through 'gram panchayats' in the Naxal-affected areas. The officials taught kids how to wash hands before and after eating. India has the maximum number of malnourished children in the world.

Ganderbal (J-K), July 01 (ANI): To ensure the smooth passage of the Amarnath yatra, Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel are deployed at highway in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district. Extra security measures have been put in place by J-K police, Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the Indian Army. Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) tags have also been affixed in all the vehicles. The annual Amarnath Yatra was flagged off from both Baltal and Pahalgam routes of Jammu - Kashmir since morning. The 46-day yatra will conclude on August 15.
Nagaur (Rajasthan), July 01 (ANI): A man was beaten up after being tied to a tree in Hariyajun village of Rajasthan's Nagaur district. Station House Officer (SHO) of Nagaur Ramveer Jhakar, told mediapersons, "We received information on Sunday evening and reached Hariyajun village. They had the suspicion that the man might elope with a woman from the village. An investigation is underway."
Patna (Bihar), Jul 01 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar while terming the AES deaths "extremely unfortunate", said that numerous steps, over the years, were taken to identify the cause of encephalitis fever but various experts, even from US, failed to reach a consensus and had "different views". "I held a meeting at AIIMS Patna in 2015 and various experts had different views as to what is the reason of it. A report was even sent to the US to get expert opinion on it and all had different views," Kumar said in Bihar Assembly where he also said that "expressing grief" is not enough on the tragic deaths.
Patna (Bihar), Jul 01 (ANI): At least 154 children have died due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) outbreak in Muzaffarpur till June 28, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said in the state assembly. Pandey noted that of the 720 children admitted for encephalitis fever in Muzaffarpur, 586 have been cured, resulting in the death rate to reduce to 21 percent. "According to the data we've, till June 28, 720 were admitted, 586 were cured, - 154 children died. Death rate reduced to 21%. According to data from 2011-19, death rate due to AES has reduced over the past few years," Pandey said in the Assembly.
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Jul 01 (ANI): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati said that the announcement made by Uttar Pradesh government of including 17 communities to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the Scheduled Castes (SC) list is a 'fraud'. She said, "It's a fraud with people belonging to these 17 castes, as they won't receive the benefits of any of the categories as UP govt will not treat them as OBCs." She further added, "They won't receive the benefits of belonging to SC as no state govt can put them or remove them from any of the categories through its orders."
Sonamarg (Jammu and Kashmir), Jul 01 (ANI): A 'barcode-enabled' authority slip is being issued for Amarnath pilgrims. The facility has been started to keep a track of actual number of people travelling to and from the cave shrine. Director of Batlal base camp, Krishan Lal said, "Amarnath Shrine Board has started it, CRPF has been assigned the task. It is a great initiative and will help us in the management of Amarnath Yatra well as the weather is extremely unpredictable."
Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh), July 01 (ANI): While speaking to media on raids on spas in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar, which took place yesterday, Superintendent of Police (Rural) of Gautam Buddh Nagar Vineet Jaiswal said, "Around 14 teams conducted raids at 14 spas. All of them have been sealed. Three of those 14 spas were being used to run a prostitution racket and case has been registered against them." "35 people have been arrested including 25 women and 10 men. More than Rs 1 Lakh cash, used and unused condoms, beer cans and other objectionable material have also been seized. Police is taking further action in this regard," he added.
Udhampur (JandK), July 01 (ANI): Amid tight security, the second batch of pilgrims enroute to Amarnath Yatra in JandK's Udhampur today. In the 45-day long Amarnath Yatra, authorities have made tight security arrangements for all the batches of pilgrims. The yatra will begin from today and will conclude on August 15. The Amarnath cave is considered as one of the holiest shrines of Hindus. Amarnath Yatra is conducted every year during Shravani Mela, which starts from July and continues till August. The holy cave remains open during this period and it attracts lakhs of pilgrims every year.
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), July 01 (ANI): Around five roosters were killed by two men by poisoning them in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior on Sunday. They killed the roosters after having dispute with their neighbours in Gwalior. While speaking to ANI, Police official said, "One Guddi Joshi had informed us that she had a dispute with her neighbour after which they killed their five roosters by poisoning them. Case is registered in this regard and investigation is on."

Recently, he has reached at Tinsukia district in Assam. While speaking to ANI, D Krishna Kumar said, "This is 'mathru seva sankalpa yatra' and we have started this journey on January 16, 2018 from Mysuru." "First we went to Kerala from there, we went to Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim and Bihar. We even went to Nepal and Bhutan. Now, we are heading towards Parshuram Kund in Arunachal Pradesh," he added.
Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Jul 01 (ANI): A video has emerged showing few men trying to damage the railway board at Aurangabad railway station. Miscreants threw paint at the board, and were trying to remove the name Aurangabad and wrote Sambhaji Nagar on it. The incident resulted in an outcry among locals. Police official said, "They will be arrested soon. Police and railway administration will take action."
