6 dead after wall collapses in Pune's Ambegaon

Pune (Maharashtra), July 02 (ANI): Atleast six died and 3 injured after a wall collapsed in Pune's Sinhgad College, Ambegaon collapsed at around 1:15 am today. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had reached the spot to rescue those trapped under the debris. The wall collapsed due to heavy downpour. The injured have been admitted to the nearby hospital.

13 people die in wall collapse, several feared trapped in Mumbai's Malad

Mumbai, Jul 02 (ANI): At least 13 persons died while 13 others sustained injuries after a wall collapsed near a school in Pimpripada area of Malad East on Tuesday night. A compound wall collapsed on the hutments due to heavy downpour. Many are feared trapped under the debris. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire brigade and police had rushed to the spot to rescue those trapped under the debris. Thirteen people have been admitted to the trauma centre at Jogeshwari and Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali. Some people were rescued by the public before the arrival of the fire brigade and NDRF team.

Samsung CEO admits galaxy fold wasn't ready

New Delhi, Jul 02 (ANI): Samsung Galaxy Fold is yet to see the store shelves and the company is finally admitting its mistake on being too pushy about its first foldable smart phone.In an interview, Samsung CEO DJ Koh explained what went wrong with the Galaxy Fold. He said that he pushed the device through before it was ready. He further said that Samsung is testing the device thoroughly before the official release, Cnet reported. The Galaxy Fold with its foldable display is priced at nearly USD 2,000. However, the smart phone has been delayed more than twice over issues with the screen. Samsung is yet to announce an official release date.

Amarnath Yatra: ITBP personnel deployed in J-K's Ganderbal

Ganderbal (J-K), July 01 (ANI): To ensure the smooth passage of the Amarnath yatra, Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel are deployed at highway in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district. Extra security measures have been put in place by J-K police, Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the Indian Army. Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) tags have also been affixed in all the vehicles. The annual Amarnath Yatra was flagged off from both Baltal and Pahalgam routes of Jammu - Kashmir since morning. The 46-day yatra will conclude on August 15.

Even US experts failed to reach consensus on cause behind AES: Nitish Kumar

Patna (Bihar), Jul 01 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar while terming the AES deaths "extremely unfortunate", said that numerous steps, over the years, were taken to identify the cause of encephalitis fever but various experts, even from US, failed to reach a consensus and had "different views". "I held a meeting at AIIMS Patna in 2015 and various experts had different views as to what is the reason of it. A report was even sent to the US to get expert opinion on it and all had different views," Kumar said in Bihar Assembly where he also said that "expressing grief" is not enough on the tragic deaths.

154 AES casualties till June 28, death rate reduced over years: Bihar Health Minister

Patna (Bihar), Jul 01 (ANI): At least 154 children have died due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) outbreak in Muzaffarpur till June 28, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said in the state assembly. Pandey noted that of the 720 children admitted for encephalitis fever in Muzaffarpur, 586 have been cured, resulting in the death rate to reduce to 21 percent. "According to the data we've, till June 28, 720 were admitted, 586 were cured, - 154 children died. Death rate reduced to 21%. According to data from 2011-19, death rate due to AES has reduced over the past few years," Pandey said in the Assembly.
