Bihar encephalitis outbreak: Prisoners' ward converted into 'PICU' in Muzaffarpur

Muzaffarpur (Bihar), June 20 (ANI): Muzaffarpur administration of Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) converted prisoners' ward into Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) due to the crisis of ICU beds in the hospital.The outbreak of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in Bihar so far killed more than 100 children. SKMCH's Manager Sanjay Kumar Shah told ANI, "We have converted prisoners' ward into PICU and after that, we have installed 19 more beds, monitors and 8 ACs in this ward."

Will support 'One Nation, One Election' if it will not affect federal structure: Farooq Abdullah

New Delhi, Jun 20 (ANI): While speaking to mediapersons on Thursday in Delhi, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah on 'One Nation, One Election' said, "I would say that a committee should be formed on this subject who will examine it so that it won't affect the federal structure. This is the reason because of which there are differences on this subject so that there shouldn't be any possibility of bulldozing the Constitution. People are worried about the government's intentions. If the subject doesn't affect the federal structure, then we will support it and if it will affect the federal structure, then we won't." Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday informed that a committee will be set up to explore the possibility of holding simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.

International Yoga Day: Over 35,000 people to participate in Yoga event with PM, says Raghubar Das

Ranchi (Jharkhand), Jun 20 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on Thursday in Ranchi, Chief Minister of Jharkhand Raghubar Das said, "PM Narendra Modi will be in Ranchi for the Yoga Day tomorrow. Over 35,000 people will be present at the venue where PM will perform Yoga. PM wanted it to be a 'jan andolan' and in Jharkhand and across the globe, it will turn into a 'jan andolan' tomorrow." International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually since its inception by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. PM Modi will be joining the programme to be held here in Jharkhand on Friday. The program will be organised at Prabhat Tara ground.

'Triple Talaq', 'Nikah-Halala' should be done away with: President Kovind

New Delhi, Jun 20 (ANI): President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday addressed the joint session of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the Parliament. While addressing the session, President Ram Nath Kovind asserted that there is need to do away with practices like instant 'triple talaq' and 'nikah halala'. President said, "To ensure equal rights to every sister and daughter in the country, it is necessary to eliminate bad practices like instant 'triple talaq' and 'nikah halala'. I appeal to all members to contribute towards making the lives of our sisters and daughters honourable and better".

New Delhi, Jun 20 (ANI): Ahead of International Yoga Day, world's shortest woman Jyoti Amge practiced Yoga in Maharashtra's Nagpur on Thursday. In the video, Jyoti was seen practicing Yoga with women trainers as well as children. Her name is also registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. Jyoti was born on December 16, 1993. She had won the title of being the world's shortest woman at the age of eighteen. International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21.

Water crisis hits hospital in Karnataka's Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi (Karnataka), Jun 20 (ANI): Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), hospital in Karnataka's Kalaburagi is facing shortage of water and nursing staff. There is shortage of water in the hospital for the last 8-10 months. While speaking to ANI, Medical Superintendent Shivakumar said, "We've been facing water scarcity since last August-September. We've started rationing water supply to wards; we release water for just 4-5 hours a day." Along with the scarcity of water, there is shortage of nursing staff in GIMS hospital. The state of Karnataka is facing severe water crisis ever since the beginning of the summer. Locals have been struggling to meet their water demands. This is the fourth consecutive drought year in Karnataka.

Teacher thrashes students for coming 10 mins late in class in J and K's Doda

Doda (J and K), June 20 (ANI): Students were beaten up by a teacher allegedly for turning up 10 minutes late for class in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda. They were from Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel. Pune (Maharashtra), June 20 (ANI): The cast and crew of ALTBalaji's upcoming web series 'Fixer' has claimed that they were attacked by goons on Wednesday. Actors Mahie Gill and Shabir Ahluwalia are a part of the show, however only the former was shooting when the alleged incident took place. According to the producer of the show, Sakett Saawhney, the team had valid shooting permission, but some drunk goons disrupted them and attacked the crew. "We were shooting in a factory with valid permissions since 7 am and suddenly around 4 pm, some drunk goons came in with sticks and rods and attacked our artists, technicians, and crew members. They said that this is their location and we cannot shoot without their permission," Saawhney said. "There was no scope for discussion, they manhandled women. Heat wave results in dead fishes in Tamil Nadu's Selva Chinthamani Lake

Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Jun 20 (ANI): Fishes were found dead on the periphery of the dried up Selva Chinthamani lake caused by the severe heat wave in Tamil Nadu's Chinthamani Lake on Wednesday. The constant spell of scorching heat in Tamil Nadu has caused acute water shortage and deficient rain has not made the current scenario in the state any better. The extreme weather conditions in the southern state of India has resulted in protests breaking outside the Coimbatore City Corporation Office by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) too, sending a message to the state about its worsening water condition. DRF staff rescues cow from septic tank in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Jun 20 (ANI): Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's (GHMC) Disaster Response Force safely pulled out the cow from a septic tank. The cow had accidently fallen in the septic tank 10 days ago in Allwyn Colony, Chandanagar circle. The Disaster Rescue Team fed wet grass and water to the cow and later shifted the cow to veterinary hospital for treatment.

2 CAF jawans shot dead by colleague in Bijapur in Chattisgarh

Raipur (Chhatisgarh), Jun 20 (ANI): Chhatisgarh Deputy Inspector General (Anti-Naxal operations) Sundarraj Patilingam informed that 2 Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) jawans were shot dead by their colleague at CAF camp in Mingachal, Bijapur. He said, "Accused jawan Sanjay Nishad is being interrogated by police. Bodies have been sent for postmortem. Probe is underway." Talking about the death of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Santosh Punem he further added, "His body was recovered in Bijapur today. Information collected suggests he was killed by Maoists. Punem had contributions in road construction work. Not yet ascertained why he was killed by Naxals."
