Putin to visit India, Waqf Bill, Trump's auto tariffs, South Korea widlfire & more

Russia today confirmed that President Putin will visit India soon, following an invitation from PM Modi during his visit to Moscow last year. This will be Putin’s first visit since the war with Ukraine broke out in 2022. The Tamil Nadu Assembly passed a resolution urging the Centre to withdraw the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024. CM MK Stalin called it an infringement on Muslim religious and property rights and accused the BJP-led government of discrimination. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar rejected Congress MP Jairam Ramesh’s privilege motion against Home Minister Amit Shah over remarks allegedly targeting Sonia Gandhi regarding the National PM’s Relief Fund. US President Trump announced a 25 per cent tariff on imported cars and auto parts, effective April 3, aiming to generate $100 billion annually. Following the announcement, Indian auto stocks slumped. Tata Motors fell over 6 per cent, Ashok Leyland 4.6 per cent, and Mahindra & Mahindra 1.7 per cent.
