Former Puducherry minister and veteran politician P Kannan, along with his son, joined the BJP on March 14 in New Delhi. P Kannan joined the party ahead of Puducherry Assembly elections. The UT assembly was dissolved after Congress government could not prove its majority following which the central government imposed President's rule there.

Kerala polls: BJP fields 'Metro Man' Sreedharan from Palakkad, state chief from 2 seats

New Delhi, Mar 14 (ANI): Ahead of Kerala Assembly elections, BJP has fielded its new entrant, 'Metro Man' Dr E Sreedharan, from Palakkad constituency, while the state party chief K Surendran will contest from two constituencies - Manjeshwar in Kasaragod and Konni in Pathanamthitta, informed party's national general secretary Arun Singh on March 14 while addressing a press conference in Delhi. "In Kerala, BJP will be contesting 115 seats and the rest of 25 seats will be left for 4 parties," Arun Singh added. "Dr E Sreedharan will contest from Palakkad Assembly constituency. Former state BJP chief Kummanam Rajasekharan will be contesting from Nemom seat in Kerala elections," he further said. The Assembly elections in Kerala are scheduled to be held in a single phase on April 6.

Watch: CM Mamata resumes election campaign on wheelchair after 'attack'

Kolkata, Mar 14 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on March 14 resumed her election campaign and arrived at Gandhi Murti in Kolkata. Injured CM Mamata held a roadshow on wheelchair. It is her first public appearance after she was allegedly attacked by some people in Nandigram earlier this week. On March 10, the Chief Minister, who was on a two-day visit to Nandigram from where she filed her nomination, alleged that she was pushed by a few unidentified people during her election campaigning. Later, she was brought to Kolkata's SSKM Hospital by road from Nandigram.

PM Modi to flag off padyatra from Sabarmati to Dandi today

New Delhi, Mar 12 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off a padyatra from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi on March 12, ahead of 75th anniversary of India's independence in 2022, informed Union Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel. "The Padyatra to be flagged off (today) by Prime Minister will cover a journey of 241 miles from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad to Dandi in Navsari and will end on 5th April lasting for 25 days. I will lead the first lap of 75 km," said Patel.

Dungarpur (Rajasthan), Mar 12 (ANI): Several people fell sick after allegedly eating Maha Shivratri 'prasad' in Rajasthan's Dungarpur district on March 11. As per the information, it appears to be a case of food poisoning. The teams of 3-4 hospitals are working in this regard. Mamata Banerjee responding well to treatment: SSKM Hospital

Kolkata, Mar 11 (ANI): Speaking on today's medical health condition of Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, who was injured in Nandigram incident yesterday, IPGMER and SSKM Hospital Dr M Bandopadhya on March 11 said, "6-member medical team re-examined CM again. She's responding well to treatment, improvement in her health condition. However, she still have symptoms related to bone injuries of her left ankle for which she continues to receive treatment." CM Banerjee on March 10 suffered injury after being allegedly 'pushed' by few persons in Nandigram. She's currently admitted at IPGMER and SSKM Hospital in Kolkata.
