Migrant returnees earning bread under MGNREGA in UP

Lakhimpur Kheri (UP), June 26 (ANI): Coronavirus lockdown had the worst impact on migrants and needy. Migrant labourers, who worked in Delhi and Gujarat, returned to their homes in Mohammadabad village of Lakhimpur Kheri district amid crisis. They are now earning livelihood here through jobs under MGNREGA scheme. One of the workers said, "We work under MGNREGA as labourers. We were labourers outside too."

Delhi's 5-star hotel turns into COVID-19 care centre for patients

New Delhi, June 24 (ANI): Five-star deluxe Hotel Suryaa of Delhi has been turned into COVID care centre amid coronavirus pandemic. All medical facilities will be made available to the patients in the five-star hotel. The Suryaa Hotel has been attached to the Holy Family Hospital to share the coronavirus caseload and to keep more hospital beds free for severe patients amid a spike in the number of cases in the national capital. Delhi is one of the worst-affected places by coronavirus. It will now have more beds for COVID-19 patients. There are 23,820 active cases of coronavirus in Delhi.

There are various varieties of hand sanitizers available in different rates on the counters of post office. The scheme to sell hand sanitizers in post offices were launched on June 15. IOS 14, IPadOS 14 allow user to set default email, browser apps

New Delhi, June 24 (ANI): Apple has rolled out a new feature that allows iPhone and iPad users to change the default email and browser applications in the new iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. According to The Verge, the company revealed the change during a WWDC keynote on Tuesday. Apple did not elaborate on the detail of the change but a new section of the iOS 14 preview page comes with an option of 'set a default web browser and email app that launch when you click a link or want to compose a new mail message.' The mobile company has confirmed to The Verge that the developers need to update the applications for the devices to support the new feature.

Arms, ammunitions recovered in JandK's Poonch under joint operation

Poonch (JandK), June 24 (ANI): Arms and ammunitions were recovered in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on June 23. One Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) gun and 212 rounds were recovered in a joint search operation of Indian Army and Special Operations Group (SOG). Arms and ammunitions were recovered in Surankote area of Poonch district. More details are awaited in this regard.

Repair work resumes of Gandak dam after consensus between India and Nepal

West Champaran (Bihar), Jun 23 (ANI): Labourers and team of Bihar Water Resources Department went to Nepal on June 23 to carry out repair work of Gandak dam. Nepal had earlier obstructed repair work in Lal Bakeya river and several other locations. "Around 50 labourers have been permitted, more will go if needed. We've talked about it," said Bagaha SDM.

New Delhi, June 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Chief Ministers of 15 states and Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories via video conferencing on June 17. According to Prime Minister's Office (PMO), PM Modi discussed the situation post unlock 1.0 and plan for tackling the COVID-19 pandemic. Chief Ministers (CMs) thanked the PM for his leadership and briefed him about the ground situation in states and their preparedness to tackle the impact of coronavirus. They talked about health infrastructure available to meet the challenge and steps taken to strengthen it further. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that, "We have so far been quite successful in our fight against the virus under the leadership of the PM, but the battle is far from over. He underlined that as we begin to unlock, we must stay vigilant."

Respite in temperature in Delhi-NCR in upcoming days: IMD

New Delhi, June 17 (ANI): Deputy Director-General, India Meteorological Department (IMD), Anand Sharma on June 16 stated that temperature in Delhi-NCR region and the northwest India are above normal which will continue in coming days. May be after 20th June, the temperature will fall, he added. "There may be respite around 20th June as we are expecting a low-pressure system to form in the Bay of Bengal which will strengthen the easterlies and that can bring rain," Sharma further said.

Mumbai, June 14 (ANI): Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly committed suicide on June 14 at his residence in Mumbai. Speaking on the matter, Abhishek Trimukhe, DCP Zone 9, Mumbai said, "Actor Sushant Singh Rajput has died apparently due to hanging but police can tell the exact cause of his death only after receiving post mortem report. So far, we have not found any suspicious object."

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput commits suicide

Mumbai, June 14 (ANI): Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on June 14. In preliminary investigation, he was found hanging at his residence. The reason behind his suicide is yet to be ascertained. Rajput has worked in films like 'Kai Po Che', 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story', 'Kedarnath', 'Chhichhore'. Singh said, "Need of the hour is to increase number of testing. ICMR guideline for testing should be changed for that. I have written to Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan for the same, anyone who suspects they are infected should be allowed to go to pathology labs and get tested. More and more pathology labs across the country should be given license and more and more testing kits should be made available to states. It should be known that who is infected and who isn't. MP Govt imposes corona tax on petrol, diesel

Bhopal (MP), Jun 13 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh government revised the price of petrol and diesel in state. With the levying of corona tax of Re 1, price of petrol has increased to Rs 82.64/litre and diesel to Rs 73.14/litre. The revised prices came into effect from 12 am of June 13, 2020. There are 2802 active cases of COVID-19 in Madhya Pradesh and death toll stands at 440.
