COVID-19: Maharashtra govt runs buses for migrant workers in Mumbai

Mumbai, May 17 (ANI): The state government of Maharashtra has arranged facility of buses for migrant workers in Mumbai amid coronavirus pandemic. Around 20 buses are going daily to drop these workers till borders of Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. The facility of buses got started from May 11. The Maharashtra government is providing bus facility free of cost to all the migrant workers. While speaking to ANI, the police official said, "We don't take any payment for this transportation and it is totally free of cost." There are total 29,100 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Maharashtra. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 53,035 with 2752 deaths in India.

It's time to fight coronavirus together, not to do politics: Chhattisgarh CM on Piyush Goyal's statement

Raipur (Chhattisgarh), May 17 (ANI): While speaking to ANI amid coronavirus pandemic on May 16, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel spoke on Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal's statement. He said, "Yesterday, he (Railways Minister Piyush Goyal) said that Chhattisgarh has demanded only 10 trains, this turned out to be a lie. We had demanded for 30 trains, nine of which have already reached Chhattisgarh. We have no pending permission or consent for any train." "Consent has to be sought from both states-one sending the train and one receiving it. UP, JandK and Karnataka haven't given us their consent yet. Whose government is in all these states? It's neither the time to do politics nor to give a challenge. It is time to fight coronavirus together," Chhattisgarh CM added.

Vande Bharat Mission: Air India's special flight arrives in Kochi from Dubai

Kochi (Kerala), May 17 (ANI): An Air India Express special flight landed at Cochin International Airport in Kerala's Kochi. The flight carrying around 181 passengers came from Dubai. Repatriation flight of Air India came on May 16. The stranded Indian nationals across the globe are being brought back to their home country under Centre's Vande Bharat Mission. There are total 576 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Kerala. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 53,035 with 2752 deaths in India.

'Want to thank PM Modi for providing train facility': Passenger after reaching Guwahati

Guwahati (Assam), May 17 (ANI): A special train carrying passengers from New Delhi Railway Station has reached Guwahati Railway Station on May 16 amid coronavirus pandemic. The special train is enroute to Dibrugarh. All passengers were screened on their arrival at the railway station, as per government guidelines. Indian Railways has resumed services of special air-conditioned trains from May 12 amid lockdown 3.0. While speaking to ANI, one of the passengers said, "I would like to thank PM Narendra Modi for providing facility of train." There are total 90 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Assam. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 51,401 with 2649 deaths in India.

'Met them just for photo-op', says RK Singh over Rahul Gandhi's interaction with home-bound migrant workers

New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): MOS (IC) Ministry Power and New and Renewable Energy RK Singh on May 16 reacted on Rahul Gandhi's interaction with migrant labourers. He said, "Did he remember migrant labourers only after 50 days? Our government, at centre and in states, has been arranging food, trains for them. We gave them ration and transferred money directly into their accounts. He met them just for photo-op. There should be some sensitivity." Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on May 16 interacted with migrant labourers and arranged vehicle for around 25 migrant workers in New Delhi. Congress volunteers are going to drop migrant workers to their homes.

FM Sitharaman announces easing of restrictions on utilisation of Indian airspace

New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharam announced easing of restrictions on utilisation of Indian airspace while addressing the media on fourth tranche of Rs 20 lakh crore stimulus package. "Restrictions on the utilisation of Indian airspace will be eased so that civilian flying becomes more efficient," said Nirmala Sitharaman. "Airports Authority of India has awarded 3 airports out of 6 bid for operation and maintenance on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis. Additional investment by private players in 12 airports in first and second rounds expected around Rs 13,000 crores," Finance Minister further said.

COVID-19: CM Soren thanks TATA TRUSTS for its assistance

Ranchi (Jharkhand), May 16 (ANI): Transforming Rural India Foundation (TRI) of TATA TRUSTS on May 16 joined hands with the Jharkhand government on fight against COVID-19. It gave 8,400 PPE kits and other health protection equipments to the Government. Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren thanked the TRI for its assistance during the time of pandemic. TRI officially joined hands to provide PPE Kits (8400), Gloves (87438 pairs), Triple-Layer Masks (72338), Kits for SHG leaders and PRI members (5000) and Dry Ration Kits for PVTG (10000) on ground.

Rahul Gandhi facilitates travel of 25 migrant workers

New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on May 16 interacted with migrant labourers and arranged vehicle for around 25 migrant workers in New Delhi. Congress volunteers are going to drop migrant workers to their homes. "Rahul Gandhi came and met us half an hour back. He booked the vehicle for us and said the cab will drop us to our homes. He gave us food, water and mask," said Devendra, a migrant labourer. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, Chief Anil Chaudhary, "They were being detained, later, police allowed them to leave."

Veterans welcome Centre's decision to raise FDI in Defence manufacturing
