Moradabad (UP), Apr 24 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad Chief Medical Officer (CMO) MC Garg on April 24 informed that a confusion lead in 2 COVID-19 positive patients being discharged from quarantine center on April 23 due to similar names. "2 COVID-19 positive patients were discharged from a quarantine center yesterday because of confusion due to similar names. They were later brought back to the quarantine center. Investigation underway," Garg said.
New Delhi, Apr 23 (ANI): Union Health Ministry on April 24 informed that 1,684 positive cases have been reported in last 24 hours. While addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Joint Secretary of Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal said,"In last 24 hours, 1,684 COVID19 positive cases have been reported which takes our total confirmed case to 23,077. However, the recovery rate counted to 20.57%, informed the Ministry.

New Delhi, Apr 24 (ANI): Amid coronavirus outbreak, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) indicated worsening impact in Asia Pacific region. IATA released analysis showing that COVID-19 crisis will lead to drop in global airline passenger revenues by US dollar 314 billion in 2020 which is 55 percent declined, if compared to 2019. Airlines in Asia Pacific will see the largest revenue drop of US dollar 113 billion in 2020 compared to 2019. The estimates are based on scenario of severe travel restrictions lasting for three months all over the world. A total of 2.71 million positive cases of coronavirus cases have been reported worldwide so far.

He also said that a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Principal Health Secretary, to frame security protocol for healthcare workers. While speaking to ANI, he said, "A total of 2375 positive cases have been reported in Delhi as of now and out of these 128 were reported yesterday. Total 808 people have been recovered so far. The 128 cases were the case of 'local spread'. Under the chairmanship of Principal Health Secretary, we have made a committee to frame security protocol for healthcare workers. Immediate action will be taken against those who'll try to harm healthcare workers."
New Delhi, Apr 24 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices were in the negative zone during early hours on Friday tracking trends in Asian markets as investors awaited government efforts on another stimulus package to shore up economic activity in the wake of COVID-19 lockdown. At 10:15 am, the BSE SandP Sensex was down by 420 points or 1.32 per cent at 31,443 while the Nifty 50 edged lower by 123 points at 9,191. Except for Nifty pharma which moved up by 1.3 per cent, all sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the red with Nifty financial service by 2.8 per cent, private bank by 2.7 per cent and realty by 2.3 per cent. Among stocks, Zee Entertainment lost by 6 per cent to Rs 148.25, a day after closing 3.7 per cent higher after Florida Retirement System (FRS) reportedly bought over half a per cent stake in the company.
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Apr 24 (ANI): Kerala Health Minister, KK Shailaja said that they are waiting for good kits from Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in wake of coronavirus outbreak. She said, "We got some kits from ICMR but when we tried to do testing from it, the kits were not in good condition. We had informed ICMR about that. We are waiting for good kits from ICMR. We have also ordered some test kits. Once we get the test kits, we will validate them, and once we confirm the quality of the kits, we will do the antibody tests.
Ramanagara (Karnataka), Apr 24 (ANI): The Karnataka Health Department is likely to shift the 119 accused in Padarayanapura violence to Bengaluru's Haj Bhavan from Ramanagara Jail. This comes after two accused out of 121, who were shifted to Ramanagara Jail, tested positive for coronavirus. They have been shifted to Victoria Hospital. A ruckus erupted in Padarayanapura on Sunday allegedly over the shifting of 15 secondary contacts of corona positive patients to a quarantine facility by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials. Padarayanapura is recognised as a 'red zone'. When BBMP officials went to shift the suspected COVID-19 patients, some people created a ruckus, broke a barricade and removed the police post in the area.

The strawberry crop is also feeling the heat as farmers are not able to take the fruit to the 'mandis' due to the lockdown. According to a farmer, they started seed sowing in the month of October which continues to grow till May but due to the lockdown and the hailstorm they are incurring loss. Strawberry farmers are destroying their crops over a lack of demand and the distortion of the supply chain due to lockdown. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended the nationwide lockdown till May 03 to curb the spread of COVID-19. Uttar Pradesh has 1509 COVDI-19 positive cases and the dread virus has claimed 21 lives in the state.
