India's current production capacity of HCQ is 35-40 cr tablets a month: IDMA

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Apr 24 (ANI): Senior vice president of Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association (IDMA), Viranchi Shah said that India's current production capacity of Hydroxychloroquine is 35-40 crore tablets a month. While speaking to ANI, he said, "India holds almost 70 percent global capacity of manufacturing Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). Our current production capacity of Hydroxychloroquine is 35-40 crore tablets a month. This is 10 times more than our requirement. There is no shortage of HCQ in India and we have sufficient amount of it to supply outside."

These artists disguised as 'Yamraj' and 'Chitragupta' from Hindu mythology to give message to locals to follow rules during lockdown period. The 'Yamraj' and 'Chitragupta' were seen interacting with people who were wandering on the roads and asked them to take necessary preventive measures. The nation is under lockdown till May 03.

COVID-19: Social distancing norms contravene at vegetable markets in Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 24 (ANI): Amid coronavirus outbreak, the whole nation is under lockdown but the social distancing norms were seen flouted in the vegetable market. Heavy traffic was seen at the Azadpur Sabzi Mandi. As per the new guideline, the market is allowed to remain open for 24 hours from April 21. Customers were also seen at Okhla vegetable market during the extended lockdown period. The market was seen crowded. The social distancing norm was also not observed at Ghazipur vegetable market. The nation is under lockdown till May 03.

Tripura becomes coronavirus-free state, informs CM Biplab Kumar Deb

Agartala (Tripura), Apr 24 (ANI): Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb informed that his state has become the third COVID-19 free state after two positive cases recovered of the dreadful virus. He said "Tripura has become coronavirus free after the recovery of the 2nd case. Two cases were recorded in the state, the first case had recovered earlier and the second patient has also been discharged after testing negative in repeat tests. After Manipur and Goa Tripura has become third COVID-19 free state.

COVID-19: Police conduct thermal screening at DND Flyway

Noida (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 24 (ANI): Police personnel conducted temperature checks of the commuters using thermometer gun at Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) Flyway. The initiative was taken in view of coronavirus by the Uttar Pradesh Police. They also checked the valid passes of the commuters as only essential service providers are allowed to move. Delhi-Noida border has been completely closed by GautamBuddha Nagar administration as preventive measure against COVID-19.

New Delhi, Apr 24 (ANI): Delhi police has come out with new campaign to spread awareness among people amid coronavirus spread. On April 24, Police officials made a painting on road near Shastri Park area in Delhi. Nationwide lockdown has been extended till May 03 to combat the disease. National capital has registered 2,248 confirmed cases so far.

Uttarakhand Muslim cleric urges people to offer Ramzan prayers at home amid lockdown

Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Apr 23 (ANI): In the wake of coronavirus pandemic, mosques will remain closed during Ramzan. A Muslim cleric from Dehradun, Syed Mohammad Ahmad Kazmi has appealed to people to follow the lockdown norms and pray from home. "I request people to offer prayers at their homes. I would like to appeal everyone to follow lockdown and maintain social distancing ", the Muslim Cleric said. A total of 46 coronavrus cases has been reported in the state so far.

Corona positive mother's day made after she gets to see her new born on video call

Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Apr 23 (ANI): The staff of Aurangabad Civil Hospital won hearts by arranging a video call between a COVID-19 positive mother and her new born baby. The baby was born on April 18, by caesarean section but tested negative for coronavirus. The infant was kept in a separate ward. "On April 18, the baby was born by caesarean section and tested negative," said Aurangabad Civil Surgeon Dr. Sunder Kulkarni.

COVID-19: Radha Soami Satsang Beas provides relief to stranded migrant workers in Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 23 (ANI): Some 400 migrant workers, who stuck during the nationwide lockdown amid COVID-19 outbreak, have taken shelter at Radha Soami Satsang Beas Ashram in Bhati Mines in New Delhi. The Ashram, with the help of local administration has made proper arrangement of their stay, including food. Beds are arranged for these migrant workers under huge sheds by maintaining social distancing. The migrant workers hail from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and other states. Radha Soami Satsang Beas has a modern and clean community kitchen, where hygiene and healthy food is prepared three times a day. Difficult to predict peak of COVID-19 in India, but curve seems to be flattened: ICMR

New Delhi, Apr 23 (ANI): Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that for now, it is very difficult to tell when peak state of COVID-19 pandemic in the country will arrive. "It is very difficult to tell that peak will arrive by May 3rd or when it will come. But it is very stable. Positivity rate has been 4.5% throughout; one can say we have been able to flatten the curve. However, difficult to predict it (peak)," said Director General of ICMR, Dr Balram Bhargava.

New Delhi, Apr 23 (ANI): The central government on April 23 clarified that in-house care-givers of senior citizens and prepaid mobile recharge utilities are exempted from lockdown restrictions. While addressing a press conference, Punya Salila Srivastava, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs said, "Home Ministry has clarified to states that in-house care-givers of senior citizens, prepaid mobile recharge utilities and food processing units in urban areas are exempted from lockdown restrictions."

COVID-19: Plasma therapy started at multiple centres, says AIIMS Delhi Director

New Delhi, Apr 23 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in Delhi, AIIMS Director of Delhi, Randeep Guleria, on Friday said at various centres, government has started using convalescent plasma therapy that is using the blood of COVID-19 patients who have recovered. COVID-19: Over 5 lakh tests done till Apr 22, but it's still not enough, says govt

New Delhi, Apr 23 (ANI): The central government on April 23 informed that more than 5 lakh tests have been conducted across the nation till April 22. CK Mishra, Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, said, "On March 23 we have done 14,915 tests across the country and on April 22 we have done more than 5 lakh tests." "If a rough calculation is done it is about 33 times in 30 days. This is not enough and we need to ramp testing in this country," the Environment Secretary further added. CK Mishra is also Chairman of Empowered Group-2. The government has created 11 empowered groups for guidance in the wake of pandemic coronavirus. The Empowered Group-2 is taking care of availability of hospitals, quarantine and isolation facilities, disease surveillance and testing.

JuD engage in supplying prostitutes to Pak military officers in PoK, says activist

Glasgow, Scotland / Bagh, PoK Apr 23, (ANI): Dr. Amjad Ayub Mirza, a political activist from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) has accused Hafiz Saeed's Jamaat-ud-Dawa of running a prostitute racket in the region and supplying women to Pakistan military generals and 'jihadis'. He said this while referring to recent arrest of top JuD leader Syed Sameer Bukhari from Bagh city of PoK for running a sex racket in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
