Reliance to provide meals for 3 crore Indians

New Delhi, Apr 20(ANI): Reliance Foundation has scaled up its meal distribution programme under Mission Anna Seva to provide over 3 crore meals to marginalised and under-resourced communities across India. Under the programme, Reliance Foundation is providing cooked meals, ready-to-eat food packets and dry ration kits to families and bulk ration to community kitchens. The entire staff of Reliance Foundation is working together in the mission on a war footing to ensure that no Indian goes hungry during the lockdown period. RIL has contributed Rs 535 crore to various relief funds, including Rs 500 crore to the PM-CARES Fund. Mission Anna Seva is set to become the largest meal distribution programme ever undertaken by a corporate foundation anywhere globally. COVID-19: Meerut Police registers case against private hospital after their ad sparks controversy

Meerut (UP), Apr 20(ANI): Meerut police has registered a case against Valentis Cancer Hospital after their advertisement published in a local newspaper got opposed by many. "We are taking action as per the evidence available," said Meerut SSP Ajay Kumar Sahni. Valentis Cancer Hospital had put an advertisement in a newspaper asking new Muslim patients and their caretakers to come for treatment after undergoing COVID-19 test and only if the results are negative. The hospital management had tendered an apology for the advertisement.

Poonch doesn't have any COVID-19 positive case: District Development Commissioner

Poonch (J and K), Apr 20 (ANI): Poonch District Development Commissioner Rahul Yadav on COVID-19 situation in the district said that Poonch doesn't have any COVID-19 positive case. Padarayanapura incident: Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai visits hotspot area

Bengaluru, Apr 20 (ANI): Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai visited Padarayanapura in Bengaluru on April 20. On Sunday night, a ruckus erupted here over shifting of some people who had contact with three COVID-19 patients to quarantine. 59 people have been arrested and 5 FIRs have been registered in this regard.

54 people arrested in Padarayanapura incident, security tightened

Bengaluru (Karnataka), Apr 20 (ANI): 54 people have been arrested and taken into custody after ruckus erupted in Padarayanapura incident. 4 FIRs have been lodged at JJ Nagar Police station in the following case. The ruckus erupted allegedly over shifting of COVID-19 infected persons to quarantine by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike's (BBMP) officials. After the incident, on April 20 police has been deployed in Padarayanapura.

COVID-19: Police forces tightened in Delhi's Kapashera 'containment zone'

New Delhi, Apr 20 (ANI): Cases and fear of coronavirus pandemic is growing in India. Police forces deployed at containment zone in Delhi. A number of barricades were put at Kapashera to halt movement of people and vehicles. Plot No 1294 in Theke Wali Gali opposite DC Office in Kapashera has also been included in the containment zone list. A total of 79 areas in the national capital have been identified as containment zones. 2003 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in Delhi as of now. Delhi government has also not given any relaxation to 'additional services' keeping in view of current situation of the state due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Judge provides ration, clothes for minor who committed theft for starving mother in Bihar

The minor's mother was suffering from hunger as there was no ration in their house. The villagers appreciated the judgment passed by the judge. Meerut Hospital stirs controversy, demands negative COVID-19 results to admit Muslim patients, issues apology

Meerut (UP), Apr 20(ANI): A private hospital in Meerut issued an apology after sparking a controversy over their advertisement in newspaper. The advertisement was directed for a particular caste, asking them to test for COVID-19 before entering the hospital. "The sole purpose of the advertisement was to request people to show their cooperation towards containing the spread of corona,"said Valentis Cancer Hospital's owner Dr. Amit Jain.

Jute mill workers face trouble amid COVID-19 lockdown in West Bengal

North 24 Parganas (West Bengal), Apr 20 (ANI): Due to coronavirus lockdown, jute mill workers are facing several problems. Some of the workers were seen standing outside jute mill in North 24 Parganas' Barrackpore. One of the workers said, "We are facing several problems and our situation is getting worse. We don't have anything to eat and have no ration in the house." The state government has allowed 15 percent of workforce for resumption of operations in mills during lockdown.

NHAI resumes toll collection on National Highways

New Delhi/ Mumbai, Apr 20 (ANI): National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) resumed toll collection on national highways on April 20 when the Home Ministry order delineating a list of activities allowed during the lockdown will come into effect. The NHAI had stopped toll operations across the country from March 25 when the nationwide lockdown began amid the COVID-19 outbreak after Ministry of Road Transport and Highways order. Recently, the Home Ministry announced a slew of relaxations towards phased reopening of the economy. The Ministry has allowed commercial and private establishments to resume operations. Toll collection falls under the category. Interstate and intra-state movement of all trucks and other goods or carrier vehicles has also been allowed.

Delhi CM should address problems of poor, migrant and stranded people: D Raja

New Delhi, Apr 19(ANI): Communist Party of India leader and Rajya Sabha Member D Raja reacted on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's stand on COVID-19 and lockdown. He said that the Prime Minister has already extended the lockdown till May 3 and Delhi CM had welcomed it previously. "Now he should tell how he is going to address the problems of poor, migrant workers and stranded in Delhi who don't have shelter, food to eat and money to spend. He should address these issues," said D Raja. "Union Government and State Govt must work in cooperation and coordination to find out a solution to help the migrant workers," CPI General Secretary on migrant workers in Maharashtra.

Watch: COVID-19 patient attempts suicide at Safdarjung Hospital

New Delhi, Apr 19 (ANI): Authorities of Safdarjung Hospital rescued a man after he attempted to commit suicide from the third floor of the hospital building on April 19. He was a COVID-19 patient and threatened to cut off his hand if anyone tries to come close to him. He was also seen spitting at the authorities as they attempted to rescue him. The rescue operation was successful in the end.

LNJP Hospital nurses demand for sanitised accommodation, PPEs

New Delhi, Apr 19 (ANI): Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital (LNJP) Hospital's nursing staff claimed that they haven't given adequate Personal Protective Equipment kits and sanitised accommodation during posting and quarantine period. However, the staff has been shifted to Gujarat Sadan now. The Nursing Officer said, "We are staying at Gujarat Sadan now, but earlier the condition was worse. 17 girls used to stay in one dormitory. There were only two toilets; we used jet pipes for bathing as there was no bathroom." However, Medical Superintendent of Hospital, Doctor JC Passey denied all allegations made by the nursing staff.
