Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Mar 24 (ANI): The Health and Family Welfare Department of Tamil Nadu sprayed disinfectants around state assembly on March 23. Disinfectants were sprayed during assembly session to tackle COVID-19 outbreak. Lockdown has been imposed in Tamil Nadu till March 31 in the backdrop of coronavirus outbreak. The order will come into effect from March 24 at 06:00 am. There are total 12 positive cases of coronavirus in Tamil Nadu so far. According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the total number of coronavirus positive cases rose to 471 in India including foreign nationals.
Kanpur (UP), Mar 24 (ANI): While speaking to media, the District Magistrate (DM) of Kanpur Dr Brahma Deo Ram Tiwari spoke on coronavirus outbreak. He said, "One positive case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Kanpur. The person was having travelling history and his blood samples were taken prior for examination." "The essential commodities will be available in city to masses from 06:00 am to 11:00 am," Kanpur DM.

Patna (Bihar), Mar 23 (ANI): A day after Bihar government announced lockdown in the state in view of COVID-19 pandemic, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on March 23 declared one month free supplies for ration card holders. He said, "Families having ration cards will get free ration for 1 month and pensioners will get 3 months' pension in advance. Every family having ration cards in lockdown areas will get Rs 1000. Students of Class 1 to Class 12 will get scholarships till March 31. All doctors and medical staff in #Bihar will get an amount equivalent to their one month of basic pay as encouragement on cornavirus pandemic." The total number of confirmed cases in Bihar is 2 including one death till now. Meanwhile, in the country, the confirmed cases have climbed to 415.
New Delhi, Mar 23 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on March 23 announced that Delhi government will provide 7.5 kg of wheat and rice as ration to the 72 lakh needy and they can avail the ration by showing their ration card. The ration for the poor will be available from 30 March. He added that government will also give 4,000 to 5,000 pension to elderly, widows and handicapped people.

"Hydroxychloroquine is recommended only for a healthcare worker who is treating a COVID patient. Secondly, it's recommended only for persons staying and caring for a household positive patient. They can take that only for prophylaxis, only for prevention."

New Delhi, Mar 23 (ANI): The Old Delhi Railway station was seen empty as Indian Railways cancelled all passenger trains till 31st March in view of coronavirus pandemic. Taxis were parked outside railway station as no movement is allowed. In wake of deadly disease, no transport service is allowed on roads except 25 percent DTC buses. A taxi driver said, "We are supporting the government after the announcement of lockdown. We are following all the instructions. We will struggle together against this pandemic." Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a lockdown in the state from 6 AM today till 31st March.

New Delhi, Mar 23 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices closed 13 per cent lower on Monday with scrips across all sectors reeling under selling pressure amid the rapidly spreading coronavirus (COVID-19). At the closing bell, the BSE SandP Sensex was down by 3,935 points or 13.15 per cent to 25,981 while the Nifty 50 tumbled by 1,135 points or 12.88 per cent to 7,610. Both Nifty 50 and Nifty bank witnessed their biggest fall in absolute terms. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in a sea of red with Nifty private bank down by 17.37 per cent, financial service by 15.52 per cent, auto by 14.17 per cent and metal by 11.21 per cent.
