Several states have announced lockdown including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Some people are coming out to get necessities. Besides, all the essential services will be provided in duration of lockdown. Centre has also announced lockdown in 75 districts across country that are affected with coronavirus. People have been increasingly advised to stay inside in order to fight back COVID-19. The disease has claimed 7 lives while over 350 positive cases have been reported.
Hamirpur (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 23 (ANI): A minor girl was killed allegedly after rape in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur. Suspects are arrested by police for the rape and murder of 12-year-old. Hamirpur SP, Shlok Kumar said, "We got the information about the killing of a 12-year-old girl. We have done investigation. Few suspects are taken under custody. 5 teams are constituted for investigation of the case. A weapon of offence has been seized from the crime spot." Investigation in the case is on.
Meerut (Uttar Pradesh)/ Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) / Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 23 (ANI): Due to coronavirus outbreak, Uttar Pradesh Government has imposed lockdown in 16 districts of the state, starting from March 23. People bought essential items during the lockdown Locals flocked to a vegetable market while, some went to milk booths. Lockdown has been imposed in 16 districts of Uttar Pradesh from March 23-25. Coronavirus has claimed 7 lives while over 350 positive cases have been reported.

Bastar (Chhattisgarh), Mar 23 (ANI): While speaking to media in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district on March 22, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in South Bastar Range of Chhattisgarh, Sundarraj Patilingam spoke on Sukma encounter. He said, "According to armed cadres there are around 800 naxals in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district. Out of 17 weapons which were used during Sukma encounter, only two weapons were recovered while 15 weapons still need to be identified," DIG Bastar added.
Moradabad/ Varanasi (UP), Mar 23 (ANI): Locals in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad queued up outside shops to buy milk after 'Janata Curfew' ended. They thronged to dairy in large numbers to buy milk. Moradabad is one of the 15 districts in UP where lockdown has been imposed from March 23 to March 25. While speaking to ANI, one of the buyers said, "We are standing here since an hour, we are not getting milk anywhere else nearby." Similarly in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, people are stocking daily use materials in large numbers on Mar 22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged countrymen to observe 'Janata Curfew' on March 22 from 07:00 am-09:00 pm. He also requested citizens to encourage the people working in essential services.
Ranchi (Jharkhand), Mar 23 (ANI): While speaking to media, the District Magistrate, Collector and Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi, Rai Mahimapat Ray spoke about coronavirus and state lockdown. He said, "There has been no confirmed positive case of coronavirus so far in Ranchi." "Jharkhand government has ordered total lockdown which will be applicable in Ranchi along with imposition of Section 144. Essential services will be continued during the lockdown period," Ranchi DC added.
Kullu (Himachal Pradesh), Mar 23 (ANI): A massive fire broke out in a two-storeyed building in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu on March 22. At least two fire tenders reached at the spot to douse the flames. The fire occurred in Dohlunala area of Kullu. Property worth Rs 10 lakh was damaged during fire. The reason of fire is yet unknown and more details are awaited in this regard.
Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Mar 23 (ANI): The traffic police of Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam created awareness among citizens amid coronavirus threat. They showed placards to people who came out of their home amid 'Janata Curfew' on March 22. Lockdown has been imposed in Andhra Pradesh till March 31 in the backdrop of coronavirus outbreak. There are total six positive cases of coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh so far.
Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 23 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Meerut Dr Rajkumar spoke on coronavirus. He said, "There has been no positive case of coronavirus so far in Meerut. Inside the Meerut Medical College, a laboratory has been established and we have started examining cases of COVID-19 outbreak in that lab."
Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Mar 23 (ANI): The Fire and Emergency Services of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) sprayed disinfectants in the city on March 22. Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, and Vadodara will remain under lockdown till March 25. However, shops selling daily necessities and essentials things like vegetables, dairy products, and medical items will remain open. There are total 13 positive cases of coronavirus in Gujarat so far. New Delhi, Mar 23 (ANI): Security has been beefed up at borders after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a complete lockdown in the national capital from 06:00 am on March 23 which will continue till March 31. There are 27 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Delhi so far. CM Kejriwal listed various provisions which are to be followed during the lockdown period and said that actions will be taken against anyone violating the order. Patna (Bihar), Mar 22 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced state-wide lockdown till March 31st. He said, "Keeping the security of people against conoravirus in mind, state government has decided to lockdown all district headquarters, subdivision headquarters, divisional headquarters and civil bodies with immediate effect till March 31st. All the private organisations and offices, and public vehicles are completely shut. Lockdown is not imposed on essential service providers."
Sukma (Chhattisgarh), Mar 22 (ANI): A total of 17 security personnel of District Reserve Guards (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) lost their lives in the encounter with Naxals in Sukma on March 22. "Total 17 security personnel (5 STF, 12 DRG) have lost their lives in an encounter in Sukma, yesterday. They were missing and security forces were trying to locate them after an encounter with Naxals," said Chhattisgarh Police. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel visited Rama Krishna Hospital in Raipur to meet the security personnel who were injured in the encounter.

People came out in their balconies in large number to thank the essential service workers on the request of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The initiative begins from the police station itself. I have sensitized and briefed my staff intensively about the quarantine and hospitals which are well-equipped with coronavirus test facilities" Ashok Vihar SHO Arti Sharma told ANI. At 5'o clock on March 22, thousands of people clapped and clang bells from their balconies while observing 'Janta Curfew'. With this gesture, they expressed gratitude to the essential service providers who are working tirelessly to bring comfort to citizens of India.

He said that under the section no gathering will be allowed. He said, "All assemblies/demonstrations/processions banned. All gatherings -social/cultural/political/religious/academic/sports event/seminar banned. Weekly markets-except vegetables/fruits/essential commodities, banned. No guided group tour, by pvt tour operators allowed."
