Man allegedly tied with leash, beaten by wife's relatives

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 23 (ANI): A man was tied leash, dragged and beaten allegedly by the relatives of his wife. The incident took place on May 16, 2019. Victim has lodged a complaint in police and orders have been given to register an FIR. Speaking to ANI, the victim said, "Sir this incident took place in 2019. I had a court marriage with a girl in February 2018. These were relatives of my wife who attacked me brutally since they didn't approve our love marriage." CO Ghaziabad, Prabhat Kumar said, "As soon as the video came to our cognisance, we have given order to lodge an FIR after speaking to the victim. All the aspects will be kept in mind for the investigation. Strict action will be taken against all the people who are seen in the video. Action will be taken against individuals who are responsible for delaying the registration of FIR."

Women, children join rally against child abuse in Chennai

Chennai, Feb 23 (ANI): Hundreds of people took to streets to rally against child abuse in Chennai on February 23. The rally was led by Congress leader and social activist Apsara Reddy. Hundreds of women and children participated in the rally carrying placard against child abuse. The rally was also joined by H Jayalakshmi, Deputy Commissioner for Crimes against Women and Children wing. Speaking at the rally, Jayalakshmi said, "We have gathered today for the rally against child abuse both online and offline. Child abuse goes beyond sexual abuse, it may be emotional, mental, physical or sexual. It encompasses much wider gamut of actions."

Shaheen Bagh protesters open road from Jamia to Nodia, Faridabad after 70 days of protest

New Delhi, Feb 23 (ANI): After 70 days of protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), road in Shaheen Bagh has now been reopened. The road from Jamia to Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Faridabad in Haryana has been reopened by the Shaheen Bagh protesters. Commuters travelling from Delhi to Nodia and Faridabad get huge relief after reopening of the road. However, security forces deployed at Shaheen Bagh are still monitoring the situation and traffic.

Amritsar kite maker makes colourful kites ahead of 'Namaste Trump' event

Amritsar (Punjab), Feb 23 (ANI): A kite maker from Amritsar has created unique kites ahead of 'Namaste Trump' event. The kites are made to welcome US President Donald Trump. These colourful kites bear face of PM Narendra Modi and President Trump. These kites are sized at 2 ft and 1.5 ft. Speaking to ANI, kite maker Jagmohan Kanojia said, "I have made some kites to welcome US President Donald Trump. There are 2 kites of 2 feet. Some kites of PM Modi and President Trump are of 1.25 feet."

CAA protest: Jaffrabad metro station closed after women block road, security deployed

New Delhi, Feb 23 (ANI): Security has been deployed at Jaffrabad metro station area in the national capital on February 23. A large number of people, including women, on the night of February 22 gathered at Jaffrabad metro station area to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has closed entry and exit of Jaffrabad metro station after viewing the situation. Trains will not be halting at this station

11 dead after truck collides with tempo traveller in Gujarat's Vadodara

Vadodara (Gujarat), Feb 23 (ANI): 11 people died and several others got injured after a truck and a tempo traveller collided with each other on February 22 in Gujarat's Vadodara. The mishap took place on the road connecting Ranu and Mahuvad village in Vadodara. The injured persons have been shifted to a nearby hospital. Further details are awaited.

TN artist carves portrait of Donald Trump, PM Modi on watermelon

Shaheen Bagh protestors understand their rights but not duties: Naqvi on roadblock

New Delhi, Feb 23 (ANI): Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on February 22 said that dissent and consensus are part of democracy but protestors cannot get their rights by blocking road. "This is a dilemma between rights and duties. They (protesters) understand their rights but not the duties. Apple iPhone 9 could be announced next month: Report

New Delhi, Feb 23 (ANI): Your wait for the next iPhone model could end sooner than expected, according to a report on German site iPhone Ticker. The report states that Apple will introduce the successor to the iPhone SE, dubbed iPhone 9, on March 31, with the device expected to be available starting April 3, 2020. The purported iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2 as some leaks have indicated is said to mimic the design language of iPhone 8 with updated processor and RAM. In addition to the iPhone SE successor, Apple is also likely to announce the iOS 13.4 update at the event.

Nainital-Haldwani NH-109 closed for 15 days

Nainital (Uttarakhand), Feb 22 (ANI): Nainital-Haldwani National Highway-109 is closed for next 15 days due to widening contraction work. The route will be closed from February 22 to March 07. The Nainital-Haldwani highway is one of the busiest routes in the Kumaon region. "It need to wide NH-109 as it is the lifeline of Kumaon. The traffic will remain closed for 15 days from 10 am to 4 pm near the Bhediya Pakhad," told Nainital DM Savin Bansal.

SC-appointed mediator Sadhana Ramachandran negotiates with Shaheen Bagh protesters

New Delhi, Feb 22 (ANI): One of the Supreme Court-appointed mediators Sadhana Ramachandran to negotiate with protesters of Shaheen Bagh on February 22 reached the agitation site in Delhi to talk to the people and resolve the issue while maintaining that protest is a fundamental right. Apex Court appointed two mediators which includes senior advocate Sanjay Hegde and advocate Sadhana Ramachandran. Hundreds of people, especially women, have been camping at Shaheen Bagh for over two months in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC), blocking an arterial road due to which the city has been facing traffic congestion.
