"India is one of the most diverse countries of the world. With 2.4 percent of world's land area, it contributes about 8 percent of the known global biodiversity. Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), Feb 17 (ANI): While speaking to media in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior on February 16, Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia spoke on his statement 'we'll get on roads if election manifesto promises will not be fulfilled'. He said, "I am a worker of the people and fighting for issues which concern public is my 'dharm'. We will have to keep patience and will also have to fulfill the promises which we had made in our manifesto." "If this is not done then, we will have to come out on road for protest," Scindia added. New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): Two criminals were killed in an encounter with police in the national capital on February 17. Raja Qureshi and Ramesh Bahadur were killed by Delhi Police Special Cell at around 05:00 am. The two criminals were wanted in multiple cases of crime, the most recent being a murder case in Karawal Nagar. The encounter took place at Pul Prahladpur area of Delhi. Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu), Feb 17 (ANI): The 12-day long celebrations of Maha Shivratri festival commenced in Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram on February 16. The celebrations are taking place at Arulmigu Ramanatha Swami Temple of Rameswaram. The colourful procession of Lord Shiva and various other gods were taken out. Imphal (Manipur), Feb 17 (ANI): A mega marathon was organised by the United People's Front (UPF) in Manipur's Imphal on February 16. The 13th Mega Marathon was conducted under Athletic Association of Manipur where thousands of people participated with zeal. The marathon began from Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium of Imphal. It was organized with the motive to help youths in abstaining from drugs and to make Manipur a healthy state. The winners in marathon were rewarded with cash prize of Rs 40,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. The consolation prize of Rs 3,000 was also awarded to 13 participants from each category.

Varanasi (UP), Feb 17 (ANI): For the first-time ever, the Kashi Mahakal Express train has been turned into a mini-temple for Lord Shiva. Seat number 64 of coach B5 in the train was reserved and left vacant for deity. The train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video-conferencing on February 16. The train will cover 1,131 km between Varanasi and Indore via Lucknow and a distance of 1,102 km between Varanasi and Indore via Prayagraj (Allahabad) in approximately 19 hours.

Researchers say their findings could also be useful for dealing with the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. The researchers' team is on the take that a bid to combat people sharing misinformation on social media could save lives. Many harmful effects are known around the spread of misinformation, but less known is the possibility that misinformation spread could harm human health, especially during the outbreak of an infectious disease.
Frankfurt (Germany), Feb 17 (ANI): A Sindhi leader living in exile in Germany has urged Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to condemn Pakistan for violating human rights in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Balochistan, and Sindh. Guterres is on a four-day visit to Pakistan, while Erdogan concluded his two-day visit to the country, last week. Shafi Burfat, who is the chief of Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM) said, "Pakistan occupied a part of Kashmir illegally (referring to PoK), while it continuously terrorised under the guise of religion in another part of Kashmir. Turkish President Erdogan must condemn the Pakistani Army's occupation of Kashmir."
