Tirumala (AP), Feb 10 (ANI): Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa visited Andhra Pradesh's Tirumala on February 10. During his arrival, a number of artists performed cultural dance to welcome him. He will offer prayers at Lord Venkateswara temple. Rajapaksa is on a five-day visit to India.

I am supporter of partition: Congress's Natwar Singh

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): Former foreign minister and Congress leader Natwar Singh on Monday said that he is in favour of India's partition after independence. Adding on it, he said the Muslim League would not have allowed Congress government function if partition had not taken place. He further said, "If India had not been partitioned, Muslim League would not have let Congress government function. So, I am a supporter of the partition."

Last rites of Naik Rajeev Singh Shekhawat performed in Rajasthan's Kotputli

Kotputli (Rajasthan), Feb 10 (ANI): The last rites of Naik Rajeev Singh Shekhawat were performed with full honour and respect at his native place in Rajasthan's Kotputli on Feb 10. Shekhawat lost his life during heavy shelling along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. Senior officers and family members bid him a tearful adieu.

'Most unfortunate decision': Anupriya Patel on SC order on SC/ST quota in jobs

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): While speaking in Lok Sabha, Apna Dal leader Anupriya Patel on Monday said that the verdict of the Supreme Court which stated that "reservations for jobs, promotions are not a fundamental right" is the most unfortunate decision given by the top court. Uttarakhand govt's 2012 decision responsible for this: Social Justice Minister on SC order on SC/ST quota

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawarchand Gehlot reacted over Supreme Court's decision that reservation in government jobs and promotions are not fundamental right in Lok Sabha. "The case has arisen due to Uttarakhand government's 2012 decision to not implement reservation in promotions in the state. In 2012, Congress was in power in Uttarakhand," the minister said. The minister further said, "Government is holding high level discussions on the issue. I would like to make it clear that the government was never made a party in the case." However, after his statement, Congress MPs walked out from the Lok Sabha.

Won't be surprised if Kejriwal loses from New Delhi seat: Kapil Mishra

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): A day ahead of counting of votes of Delhi Elections, BJP candidate form Delhi's Model Town and former AAP MLA Kapil Mishra slammed the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, by saying that it shouldn't be surprising if Kejriwal loses election from the New Delhi seat. "The people's mandate is with the BJP. We know the reality as we have worked on the ground. Mumbai family helps 5 patients by donating organs of son who died in road accident

Mumbai, Feb 10 (ANI): In a first, family of 25-year-old Mahesh in Mumbai helped live five patients by donating organs of their son who died in a road accident. The organs include kidneys, heart, livers which have been donated to different hospitals. Mahesh was brought in a critical condition to the JJ Hospital after getting seriously injured in a road accident, and was later declared brain dead on Feb 07. Soon the JJ Hospital convinced family of Mahesh to donate his organs to help the needy.

Youth paraded naked for shooting TikTok video with 14-year-old girl in Jaipur

Jaipur (Rajasthan), Feb 10 (ANI): A youth was paraded naked for shooting a TikTok video with a 14-year-old girl in Jaipur, and uploading it on the social media platform. The girl later lodged an FIR against the man under POCSO act. Speaking on the matter, a police official said, "After video went viral, girl's father made youth take off clothes and beat him up. Girl has lodged FIR against youth under POCSO and SC/ST Acts".

Gargi College sexual assault: Fact finding committee formed to meet complainants, says Principal

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): Principal of Gargi College, Dr Promila Kumar informed that the college administration has set up a high-level fact finding committee to meet with complainants of alleged sexual assault inside the campus during a cultural festival. "We have set up a high-level fact-finding committee to meet with the complainants, eyewitnesses and any other person having relevant information. The committee will prepare, in a time-bound manner, a report of the complaints for submission to the Police, if complainants so desire. The students also have the option of approaching the ICC of Gargi College for confidential inquiry. Institute will file a report of complaints to the Police at the earliest so perpetrators can be brought to justice. We'll set up a security protocol to ensure such incidents never take place again," Dr Promila told ANI on alleged sexual assault by outsiders at the college.

Sensex down by 162 points on coronavirus fears, metal stocks melt

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices witnessed profit booking And closed in the negative zone on Monday amid concerns over the impact of coronavirus on supply chains And global economy. The BSE SAndP Sensex closed 162 points lower at 40,980 while the Nifty 50 slipped by 67 points at 12,032. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) were in the red with Nifty metal melting by 3 per cent, auto by 2.5 per cent And realty by 1 per cent. Among stocks, Tata Steel dipped by 5.9 per cent at Rs 443.15 per share while Hindalco was down by 3.2 per cent at Rs 191 apiece. Auto stocks too slipped substantially with Mahindra and Mahindra down by 7.1 per cent And Eicher Motors by 3.3 per cent. The other prominent losers were Zee Entertainment, Grasim, Bharti Infratel, Coal India, Britannia And Yes Bank. However, UPL, Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Reliance Industries And Hindustan Lever traded with a positive bias.

Gargi College sexual assault: CAW inspector, Additional DCP appointed for investigation

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): Speaking on Gargi college alleged sexual assault case, South Delhi DCP Atul Thakur informed that inspector of CAW Cell and Additional DCP South Delhi has been appointed to conduct an inquiry into the case. "An inspector of Crime Against Women (CAW) Cell has been designated as investigation officer in the case. The Additional DCP (South) has been designated as inquiry officer to conduct an inquiry into all aspects related to the case," said DCP South Delhi. Earlier, Gargi College students were allegedly assaulted sexually on campus during cultural fest. The fest took place form February 04 to 06. National Commission for Women took cognizance of alleged sexual crime.

Gargi College sexual assault: Sanjay Singh questions Delhi Police

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): Several women from Delhi University's Gargi College alleged that they were groped by men on campus during their annual cultural fest. The fest took place from February 04- February 06. National Students' Union of India (NSUI) protested at Gargi College against alleged molestation incident. They raised slogans against Delhi Police during the protest. While speaking to ANI in the national capital on February 10, the leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAM) Sanjay Singh said, "Gargi College incident is very unfortunate and in the annual festival of that girls college few boys went forcefully and molested them.
