Google to soon offer checking accounts with banks

New Delhi, Nov 14 (ANI): Google is expanding its presence in the financial domain by preparing to offer checking accounts to consumers. As TechCrunch reports, the service, called 'Cache' will be in partnership with banks and credit unions to offer the checking accounts, with the financial and compliance activities handled by the banks.

Kharge welcomes SC decision upholding disqualification of 17 Karnataka MLAs

Bengaluru, Nov 13 (ANI): Congress general secretary Mallikarjun Kharge on November 13 reacted on Supreme Court's decision to uphold disqualification of 17 rebel MLAs in Karnataka. Welcoming the decision, he said that leaders who change their party from willingly then there is no problem but if someone doing it deliberately for personal profit then he got disqualified. "It's a lesson for the entire politician and the parliamentarians if anyone changes their party. The Supreme Court (SC) upheld an order of former Karnataka Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar disqualifying 17 Karnataka MLAs in July.

Not going to put timings clause in new hostel manual: JNU VC Jagadesh Kumar

New Delhi, Nov 13 (ANI): While speaking to ANI in the national capital on Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) announced 'partial roll-back' of hostel fee hike, Vice Chancellor of JNU, Professor M Jagadesh Kumar said, "Recently, our inter hall administration committee brought out a new hostel manual and a new structure of hostel charges but that is not final until those recommendations are discussed in the executive council and approved it won't be final." "Today, the executive council met and looked at those recommendations very carefully. We also considered the feedback and suggestions that we have received from different sections of the student's community in JNU. After looking at all those feedbacks which we have received we decided that we will make certain changes in the structure of hostel charges and some of the hostel rules," he added. "We are not going to put clause of timings in the new hostel manual," VC Jagadesh Kumar further stated.

New Delhi, Nov 13 (ANI): After intense protests by students, Delhi-based Jawaharlal Nehru University on November 13 decided to partially roll-back the hike proposed in the hostel fees. For the past few weeks, the students and the university administration have been at loggerheads over a new hostel manual, which mentions increase in fees along with other changes in the rules."Authorities have given us the assurance regarding our demand. It is the victory of the students of JNU," a student told ANI. "They roll-back the hike proposal and we would like to thank the UGC and MHRD," another student spoke to ANI.

ABVP holds protest outside UGC against JNU fee hike

New Delhi, Nov 13 (ANI): A massive scuffle broke out between the protesting students and cops outside Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus in the national capital on November 11. The protest was organised by Jawaharlal Nehru Students' Union (JNUSU) over different issues including fee hike outside the university campus. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held protest outside University Grants Commission (UGC) against fee hike on November 13 in Delhi. Rent for student's single room hiked from Rs 10 to Rs 300, rent for student double room hiked from Rs 20 to Rs 600, one-time refundable mess security deposit hiked from Rs 5,500 to Rs 12,000.
