PMC Bank row: Depositors continue their protest in Mumbai

Mumbai, Oct 30 (ANI): Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank depositors staged a protest at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. They demanded the money to be refunded as soon as possible. The protestors blamed RBI for the issue and chanted, "RBI chor hai' Last month, the RBI restricted the activities of the PMC Bank for six months and asked it not to grant or renew any loans and advances, make any investment or incur any liability, including borrowing of funds and acceptance of fresh deposits after an alleged fraud of Rs 4,355 crore came to light. The organisation had initially capped the deposit withdrawal at Rs 10,000 but later raised it to Rs 40,000. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized and identified movable and immovable assets worth more than Rs 3,830 crore owned by HDIL in connection with the case.

People's mandate for BJP-Shiv Sena, NCP to sit in opposition, reiterates Praful Patel

CM Kejriwal interacts with women passengers in DTC bus

New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took ride in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus in the national capital on October 30. He interacted with women passengers in a Delhi bus in order to get feedback on free rides. While speaking to ANI, CM Kejriwal said, "Participation of women in workforce is 11 per cent. This step will make travelling easier for women. It is sad that opposition is criticising it. All good work should be appreciated." Women in Delhi are travelling for free in DTC buses as the initiative of free rides was began by Delhi government on October 29.

Kolkata, Oct 30 (ANI): West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday condemned the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam where 5 civilians from Murshidabad killed on October 29. He said, "This cowardly attack is a shocking incident. It must be condemned by everyone, it's a terrorist attack. They are enemies of humanity and nation. I'm more pained because victims were from Murshidabad." "West Bengal and Central Government should extend assistance to the victims' families because their bread earner is gone. Their deaths will have a cascading and detrimental effect on their families' daily lives. The loss is unbearable and unforgettable," he added.

PM Modi and Angela Merkel can talk on any issue: German Envoy on Kashmir issue

New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): German Ambassador to India Walter J. Lindner on October 30 informed about country's Chancellor Angela Merkel's visit to India. He said that the German Chancellor will be accompanied by 12 ministers which represent almost all the ministries. There are various topics on which the dignitaries can talk on like artificial intelligence to agriculture to economic issues, etc. Answering to a question related to European delegation's visit Kashmir, he said "The two leaders have a very good relationship and you can trust that they can talk about any issue they put on the table."

Members of EU delegation term Kashmir situation 'complicated'

Srinagar (J-K), Oct 30 (ANI): Delegation of European Union Parliament members visited Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar on October 29. After visiting Srinagar, European Union Parliament Member Kosma Zlotowski said, "There is a very complex situation here, political situation, social situation. The beginning has been plenty years ago and the government tries to solve the problem and I hope it will toggled. There are tensions we see it without any glass so how to solve it this is very big problem and I hope government of India will do it okay." Another member of EU Parliament Ryszard Czarnecki said, "The reality on ground is things are complicated. It's clear from the amount of security that is needed for us that there are security issues on the ground. We are supportive of what the Indian government is doing."

Let opposition leaders visit JandK: EU member advises govt to address 'disbalance'

Srinagar, Oct 30 (ANI): A delegation of 27 European Union (EU) parliamentarians is visiting Jammu and Kashmir. Their visit will give them a clear view of the development and governance priorities of the JandK region. While speaking to ANI on his visit to Jammu and Kashmir, EU member Nicolaus Fest said, "I think if you let in European Union parliamentarians, you should also let in opposition politicians from India. So, there is some kind of disbalance and the government should somehow address it." This is the first visit by an international group in JandK since the Centre's move to abrogate Article 370.

Families mourn death of 5 labourers killed by terrorists in J-K's Kulgam

Murshidabad (West Bengal), Oct 30 (ANI): Five labourers were shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam on October 29. One person was been critically injured in the terrorist attack. The families and friends of the five labourers mourned their death in West Bengal's Murshidabad yesterday. The attack happened on a day a delegation of parliamentarians from the European Union is visiting Kashmir to talk to locals and ask them about their experience after the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status under Article 370 of the Constitution in August. Since the Centre's decision on Article 370, terrorists have been targeting truckers and labourers, mainly who have come to the Valley from outside Kashmir.

Statue of Mahatma Gandhi vandalised by 2 miscreants in Rajasthan's Ajmer

Ajmer (Rajasthan), Oct 30 (ANI): A statue of Mahatma Gandhi was vandalised by two miscreants in Rajasthan's Ajmer on October 28. The incident took place in Nasirabad area of Ajmer and was captured in a CCTV camera. The culprits were identified as Yash and Ankur. They have been arrested by the police on October 29. While speaking to ANI, a police official said, "We will present them before court and will also ask for their remand. Further investigation is underway in this matter."

PM Modi arrives in Delhi after concluding 2-day visit

New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the national capital on October 30. He came to Delhi after concluding his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia. PM Modi came at Delhi's Palam airbase after concluding his visit. PM reached Riyadh in Saudi Arabia on October 28 with an aim to boost bilateral ties between the two countries in key sectors, including energy and finance. Air quality plunges to 'very poor' category in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): The air quality of national capital took a hit after Diwali night due to a combination of firecracker emissions, stubble burning and unfavourable meteorological conditions. According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) data and System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), major pollutants in Delhi's Lodhi Road area were PM 2.5 at 500 (severe) and PM 10 at 379 (very poor). Pollution levels have been oscillating between the lower end and the higher end of the 'very poor' category. The higher value of AQI indicates greater level of air pollution and health concern. Delhi residents have complained of a spike in respiratory problems and allergies. The stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana makes the situation in Delhi more worse. To curb air pollution, the Arvind Kejriwal led-government in Delhi has announced the implementation of the Odd-Even scheme from November 4-November 15.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui wins big at 2019 Cardiff International Film Festival

New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): 'Sacred Games' actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been bestowed with the Golden Dragon Award at this year's Cardiff International Film Festival in the UK. The actor on October 29 extended a word of thanks to UK politician and counsel general of Wales, Mick Antoniw, for presenting him with the award at this year's festival. Cardiff Festival which commenced on Thursday, October 24, and ended on Sunday, October 27, also honoured veteran Hollywood actor Judi Dench with the Lifetime Achievement Award. As Engadget notes, MS Word and PowerPoint now have direct access to Adobe's Libraries that have images from company logos to font styles. Sirsa family awaits bull to excrete after it consumes gold

Sirsa (Haryana), Oct 29 (ANI): In a strange turn of incidents, a stray bull has consumed around 40 gm of gold along with kitchen waste in Haryana's Sirsa. The incident took place last week. The family is taking care of the bull so that they can retrieve their gold from bull's excrete. The family is feeding fruits and grains to the animal. The incident took place after a woman in family threw gold along with kitchen waste by mistake. The waste was later eaten by the bull but it was too late. Since then bull is staying with the family. A family member said, "We will keep taking care of the bull. Even if the process is not successful, we will send him to the animal shelter, won't abandon him."
