Chennai, Oct 29 (ANI): Scientist of Indian Meteorological Department, Chennai, S Balachandran said that north Tamil Nadu is expected to receive moderate rainfall in next 24 hours. He said, "In next 24 hours, widespread moderate rainfall is expected to occur over north Tamil Nadu. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected to occur in 1-2 places in 16 districts including Kanyakumari and Madurai."
Kolkata, Oct 29 (ANI): Kolkata celebrated 'Bhai Phonta' with great fervour on October 29. All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Nusrat Jahan participated in 'Bhai Phonta' celebration at an old age home along with TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty. 'Bhai Phonta' is a Bengali Hindu festival that is usually celebrated two days after 'Kali Puja'. On this day, sisters apply sandalwood 'tilak' on their brothers' forehead and pray for their safety, well-being and success.
Mumbai, Oct 29 (ANI): As tussle continues between Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party over sharing Chief Minister post's tenure, Shive Sena's Sanjay Raut claimed that CM Devendra Fadnavis himself had uttered the '50-50 forumula'. Raut responded fiercely to CM Fadnavis' earlier comments where he said, "No decision was taken on it in front of me. Any discussion on it between Amit Shah and Uddhav is known only to them and only they can decide on it". "I don't know what the CM has said. If he is saying that the '50-50 formula' was never discussed, then I think we need to change the definition of truth. What was discussed, regarding the issue the CM is talking about, is known by all. The media was there," said Raut. "CM himself had uttered the '50-50 forumula', Uddhav ji had spoken about it too. It happened before Amit Shah. 'Agar ab ye kehte hain ki aisi koi baat hui nahi to main pranaam karta hoon aisi baaton ko'. He is denying what he had said before the camera," he added.
Mathura (UP), Oct 29 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Energy Minister Shrikant Sharma on October 29 said the state government is planning to install prepaid smart meters for electricity consumption from November 15. He also said, "We will begin this from residence of officials, elected representatives and Ministers. Our intention is to make electricity affordable for everyone."

He said, "I don't have an objection to the European Union Parliament delegation visiting Jammu and Kashmir. What I object to, is that the MPs of this country are not being allowed to go to Jammu and Kashmir. It's a conducted tour."
Trichy (Tamil Nadu), Oct 29 (ANI): Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin met the family of deceased Sujith Wilson who lost his life after falling in a borewell in Tamil Nadu's Trichy. He met 2-year-old boy's mother at the residence. Minor's body was retrieved in the wee hours of October 29. The body of the child was taken to his residence in Nadukattupatti for cremation.

Mumbai, Oct 29 (ANI): PMC (Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative) Bank depositors staged protest outside the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) office at BKC in Mumbai. The protestors raised slogans and held placards which read 'punish the culprits, give our deposits' and 'we want justice'. Last month, the RBI restricted the activities of the PMC Bank for six months and asked it not to grant or renew any loans and advances, make any investment or incur any liability, including borrowing of funds and acceptance of fresh deposits after an alleged fraud of Rs 4,355 crore came to light.

BJP will elect its party legislative leader tomorrow. BJP will take all appropriate steps in consultation with others and soon we will have government in Maharashtra." In last week's Maharashtra election, the BJP won 105 seats in the 288-member Maharashtra assembly and the Shiv Sena ended up with 56. With the BJP's tally dipping from 122 in 2014, the Sena believes it has enough leverage to insist on an equal share. Together, the two have 161 seats, way past the half-way mark of 144.

Srinagar (J-K), Oct 29 (ANI): A European Parliament Delegation arrived in Srinagar on October 29. The delegation of 27 EU MPs is scheduled to visit Kashmir today. The visit comes on the heels of a US Congressional meeting in Washington, where a group of lawmakers expressed concern about the situation in J-K following the Centre's move to end the state's special granted under the Constitution and bifurcate it into two union territories. Their visit will give them a clear view of the development and governance priorities of the J-K region.

Katra/ Anantnag (J-K), Oct 29 (ANI): Another truck driver in Jammu and Kashmir was shot dead by terrorists in Bijbehara town of Anantnag district. The incident took place late on Monday evening. The slain driver has been identified as Narayan Dutt of Katra in Jammu. This was fourth such incident in the Valley this month. Deceased's daughter demanded strong action against the culprit.
Sopore (J-K), Oct 29 (ANI): Pakistan-sponsored terrorist lobbed grenade near a bus stand in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore on October 28. The attack came ahead of a visit to Kashmir by a delegation of members of European Parliament. The terror attack was captured on a CCTV camera in which around 19 people were injured. Sponsored terrorists of Pakistan are trying to disrupt return of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir.
New Delhi, Oct 29 (ANI): Newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana, Dushyant Chautala, retorted to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut's jibe on him. Chautala said, "It means he knows who Dushyant Chautala is. My father is in jail since 6yrs, he never asked about his well being. Ajay Chautala ji has not come out without completing his term. Such statements don't add to Sanjay ji's stature." When asked about delay in formation of government in Maharashtra, Raut said, "There is no Dushyant here whose father is in jail."
Chennai, Oct 29 (ANI): Tamil Nadu's government doctors' indefinite strike entered its fifth day. Among other demands, protesters are demanding periodic salary raise and appointment of more doctors. Nearly 17,000 government doctors across Tamil Nadu launched an indefinite strike on October 25. The doctors belong to various groups under the Federation of Government Doctors Association (FOGDA) in the state.
Sopore (J-K), Oct 29 (ANI): A terrorist lobbed grenade near a bus stand in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore on October 28. Around 19 people were injured in the grenade attack. The incident was captured in a CCTV camera. Sopore is a town located in the Baramulla district of J-K.
Depalpur (MP), Oct 29 (ANI): 'Hingot War', an age old tradition of throwing fire balls on each other was celebrated by the people of Depalpur in Madhya Pradesh. 'Hingot War' is organised a day after Diwali on Dhok Padwa. In this event, two groups - Turra of Gautampura and Kalgi of Rungi village- attacked each other with burning hingots.
