Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Oct 25 (ANI): As Diwali is around the corner, people are celebrating 'Dhanteras' on Oct 25 Shops were jam-packed on the auspicious occasion in Bhopal. Shoppers were seen buying silverware. The sales of electronic appliances and utensils increase on this day. 'Dhanteras' is the first day that marks the festival of Diwali in India. As per Hindu mythology, 'Dhanteras' is considered auspicious to buy precious metals, utensils on this day.

Preparations underway in Ayodhya ahead of 'Deepotsav'

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 25 (ANI): Ahead of 'Deepotsav', the preparations are in full swing at Ram Ki Paudi in Ayodhya. Tourists are flocking in large numbers to witness the grand Diwali celebration. The banks of river Saryu have been illuminated with colourful lights. Ayodhya is famous for 'Deepotsav' as the whole city illuminates with diyas on 'Festival of Lights'. Diwali is a Hindu festival that symbolises spiritual 'victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance'.

PoK is terrorist controlled part of Pakistan: Gen Bipin Rawat

New Delhi, Oct 25 (ANI): Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said that Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) is actually a terrorist terrorist controlled part of Pakistan."The territory which has been illegally occupied by Pakistan is not controlled by the Pakistani establishment, it is controlled by terrorists," he further added. "When we say Jammu and Kashmir, the complete state of Jammu and Kashmir includes PoK and Gilgit Baltistan. Therefore PoK and Gilgit Baltistan become an occupied territory - a territory which has been illegally occupied by our western neighbour," said General Bipin Rawat while giving a speech at Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.

Will stand with somebody who is strong and stable: Dushyant Chautala

New Delhi, Oct 25 (ANI): Jannayak Janata Party chief, Dushyant Chautala said his party (JJP) will stand with somebody who is strong and stable. "The party which will agree to our Common Minimum Program under which we had taken the resolution of 75% jobs reservation, JJP will give its support to that party." Haryana on Thursday (October 24) ended up with a hung assembly with the ruling BJP emerging as the largest party with 40 seats, but still six short of the halfway mark needed to form the next government. The Congress won 31 seats, the Jannayak Janta Party 10, the Indian National Lok Dal and Haryana Lokhit Party one each. Haryana Assembly Election 2019 took place on October 21.

India's agreement to RCEP will be big jolt to our economy: Jairam Ramesh

New Delhi, Oct 25 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in Delhi on Friday, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's next month visit in Bangkok to sign Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement, said, "After demonetisation and GST it will be the third big jolt to our economy when the Prime Minister will go to Bangkok the next month and express India's agreement to Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) - a pact among 16 countries." "RCEP will result in liberalisation in imports from China. We don't know what was discussed in Wuhan or Mahabalipuram but we can see the results, there'll be liberalisation in imports from China. 'Made in India' is not mentioned now. It'll encourage 'Made in China'," he added.

We are open to Dushyant Chautala's suggestions: BS Hooda

New Delhi, Oct 25 (ANI): Former chief minister of Haryana and senior leader of Congress, BS Hooda spoke to ANI after Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) chief Dushyant Chautala held a press conference and said that JJP will give its support to that party which will agree to Common Minimum Program. Speaking on it, Hooda said, "Dushyant ji stated a few points in his press conference. As far as Common Minimum Program is concerned, it's already provided in our manifesto-be it old age pension or 75% job reservation for Haryanvis. If he has other suggestions, we're open to that. Now it's up to him."

'Party high command will take decision': Maharashtra Congress on supporting Shiv Sena, NCP

Mumbai, Oct 25 (ANI): President of Maharashtra Congress, Balasaheb Thorat reacted on the questions over supporting Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena to form a government in Maharashtra. Vijay fans vandalise property over delay in special screening of 'Bigil'

Krishnagiri (Tamil Nadu), Oct 25 (ANI): Angry over the time change of the movie 'Bigil' due to technical issues, fans vandalised property in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district.
