Bhopal (MP), Oct 16 (ANI): Cabinet Minister PC Sharma compared condition of roads in Madhya Pradesh to "cheeks" of BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and added that Congress government will make them like "cheeks" of Lok Sabha MP Hema Malini. The minister gave the statement at the time he was inspecting Habibganj area along with Public Works Development (PWD) minister Sajjan Verma. "Roads in Madhya Pradesh were built like that of Washington. What has happened to these roads now? After heavy rain, there are potholes everywhere. Presently, the condition of roads is like stains of smallpox. It seems that the condition of the roads has become like the cheeks of Kailash Vijayvargiya," Sharma told reporters here. "These roads will be repaired within 15 days on the orders of Chief Minister Kamal Nath. Very soon we will make these roads like cheeks of Hema Malini," he said.

Lucknow (UP), Oct 16 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh is having a rethink on its decision to terminate the services of 25,000 home guards attached with police stations and engaged in traffic duty after an uproar over the move. Home Guard Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Chetan Chauhan said, "The decision has not been taken yet, this matter is still under process." "No home guard will be removed. They might reduce their working day," he further added. Last week, the state police headquarters had issued orders to all districts Superintendent of Police (SP) to terminate the services of 25,000 Home Guards.

Praful Patel dismisses his alleged links with Dawood Ibrahim's aide

Mumbai, Oct 15 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel on October 15 dismissed reports of him being summoned by Enforcement Directorate (ED) on October 18 in a land deal related to gangster Iqbal Mirchi, a close aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. He said that he has not received any notice or summons. If received notice, he would go to ED himself. While addressing mediapersons on his reports of his name appearing in a land deal related to gangster Iqbal Mirchi, Patel said, "There are speculative views and documents which may have been leaked to media. Abdul Kalam's brother pays tribute to 'missile man' on his 88th birth anniversary

Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu), Oct 15 (ANI): Mohamed Muthu Meera Maraikayar, elder brother of former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, paid tribute to the 'missile man' on his 88th birth anniversary in Rameswaram on October 15. The former President suffered a cardiac arrest on July 27, 2015, and passed away while giving a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. In 2002, Dr Kalam became the 11th President of India and famously became the 'People's President' for his friendly nature to one and all. In 2010, the United Nations decided to recognise October 15 as World Students' Day in honour of the former president. He always referred to himself as a teacher first.

Article 370 revocation: NIT Srinagar reopens after 70 days

Srinagar, Oct 15 (ANI): National Institute of Technology (NIT) reopened in Srinagar on October 15. In the wake of Jammu and Kashmir's situation after abrogation of Article 370 and security and communications lockdown, the classes were suspended at the college. NIT has opened after almost 70 days of shutdown. Mobile postpaid services also resumed in the Valley on October 14. The central government had scrapped provisions of Article 370 that used to give special status to Jammu and Kashmir as a state on August 05.

Delhi Police felicitate staff of PCR for good works

New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): PCR of Delhi Police is the first responder to the caller in distress. Police detains Farooq Abdullah's sister, daughter during protest in Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 15 (ANI): Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah's sister Suraiya and daughter Safiya were detained by police in Srinagar on October 15 for protesting against abrogation of Article 370. They also staged protest against bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories. Several other women activists were also detained during the protest.
