New Delhi, Oct 02 (ANI): Air India paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary by painting a sketch of him on the tail of an Airbus A320 aircraft. Air India has also started 'Safai Abhiyaan' in the organization. Chairman and managing director of Air India, Ashwani Lohani said, "Today we have drawn a sketch on an aircraft, so that people remember Mahatma Gandhi's thoughts, he was not just a human being he is a thought."
Lucknow (UP), Oct 02 (ANI): General Secretary of Congress Party, Priyanka Gandhi took jibe at Bharatiya Janata Party on Gandhi Jayanti and said, "Path of truth is Mahatma Gandhi's way of life, first BJP should walk on the path of truth then talk about him." She made this statement during the Padyatra at Shaheed Samarak in Lucknow. The padyatra is organised by Congress Party on the 150 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Mumbai, Oct 02 (ANI): A clean-up drive was conducted at Versova beach in Mumbai. The drive was held on the occasion of 150th birth of anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Around 4,000 people took part in the cleanliness drive with great enthusiasm. Afroz Shah, renowned environmental activist said, "Gandhi ji's dream of a clean India must be fulfilled, it must be done every week. We must follow his philosophy every day. "Mahatma Gandhi was a nationalist, he did not just belong to the Congress. His ideology never dies. We remember him because he adopted the route of non-violence, goodwill and love and took our country to freedom. However, today through social media, the way Mahatma Gandhi is being defamed and Nathuram Godse is being glorified, this is very shameful," he told reporters. Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar town of Gujarat, Mahatma Gandhi adopted a non-violent resistance and was the forefront of the freedom struggle against the colonial British rule with utmost patience.

New Delhi, Oct 02 (ANI): On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, a massive cleanliness drive was conducted in Delhi's Wazirabad area on October 02. 'Swachhata Abhiyaan' took place at Ramghat in Wazirabad under the 'Namami Gange Project'. 'Swachhata Hi Seva' movement for cleanliness was organised from September 11 to October 2. This year the campaign focused on plastic waste management, given the detrimental effect of uncollected plastic waste on human beings, animals and the environment at large. From October 3 to October 27, the collected plastic waste will then be effectively recycled and disposed. While speaking to ANI, Director General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga Rajiv Ranjan Mishra said, "Today is the last day of our 'Swachhta Hi Seva' campaign. We are cleaning around seven 'ghats' in the national capital under this programme." "Several college students are participating in this cleanliness drive along with us," he added.

"Ganga River is on rise in Bhagalpur. Kahalgaon belt has been affected badly, NDRF teams have been stationed there. Relief camps and community kitchen have also been set up. 42 deaths have been reported so far." New Delhi, Oct 02 (ANI): Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Nitin Gadkari launched a special sales campaign of Khadi and Village Industries Commission in Delhi on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti. He launched cow dung soaps and bamboo bottles. Gadkari also launched low-priced sanitary napkins. Hyderabad, Oct 02 (ANI): A scientist working at National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was found dead at his residence in Hyderabad on October 01. The incident took place in Ameerpet area of Hyderabad. SR Suresh Kumar's body was shifted to Osmania hospital for post mortem. Further investigation is underway in the case.
