Mt Hanuman Tibba near Manali receives fresh snowfall

Manali (Himachal Pradesh), Sep 30 (ANI): High mountains at Hanuman Tibba near Himachal Pradesh's Manali were all white due to fresh snowfall. Parts of the state also witnessed rainfall on September 29. Friendship peak, Ladaki peak and Manali peak were also covered in fresh snow during the past 24 hours. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall at places across the state till October 03. Snowfall is one of the major attractions for the tourists coming to the state.

Air Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria took charge as the Chief of the Indian Air Force. Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria is the 26th Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force. BS Dhanoa was the 25th Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force. Dhanoa took over the charge of IAF Chief on January 01, 2017.

Bihar flood: Death toll mounts to 29

Patna (Bihar), Sep 30 (ANI): Heavy rainfall led to water-logging in several parts of Patna. According to Bihar State Disaster Management Authority, at least 29 people have died due to rainfall. Bihar government also has asked Indian Air Force for two helicopters for lifting and airdropping food packets and medicines in the flood-affected areas of Patna.

9-day long car festival of Goddess Biraja commences in Odisha's Jajpur

Jajpur (Odisha), Sep 30 (ANI): A nine-day long car festival of Goddess Biraja began in a decorated chariot in Odisha's Jajpur district on September 29. Biraja Temple is the only 'Shakti Peeth' in India where Goddess Biraja moves for nine-days in a chariot. The chariot procession commences during 'Shardiya Durga Puja' which makes it unique and different among all the 'Shakti Peeths' in India. This amazing festival attracts devotees, spectators, pilgrims from across the nation. As per experts of 'shastras', Devi Sati's navel region is said to have been fallen here in the bank of river Baitarani of Jajpur. The Chariot of Goddess Biraja moves around the temple compound continuously for nine-days. An idol of Goddess Biraja which is made up of brass sits in the chariot during car festival. The brass idol is known as 'Chalanti Pratima'.

PM Modi arrives in Chennai to participate in prize distribution ceremony of Singapore-India Hackathon

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Sep 30 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tamil Nadu's Chennai on September 30. Congress screening committee holds meeting ahead of Haryana polls

New Delhi, Sep 30 (ANI): Ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections slated for next month, the screening committee of the Congress party on Sunday held meeting in Delhi. Former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Madhusudan Mistry and Devender Yadav among others were present in the meeting. While speaking to mediapersons, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Kumari Selja said, "It'll now go to CEC, meeting will be held day after tomorrow under chairmanship of Sonia." The Election Commission of India (ECI) has slated the single-phase voting for the 90-member Haryana Assembly elections on October 21, while the counting of votes will take place on October 24.

11 critically injured after boiler bursts at cement plant in Chittorgarh

Chittorgarh (Rajasthan), Sep 30 (ANI): At least 15 people got injured and 11 are critical after boiler at a cement plant burst. The incident happened in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh on September 29. While speaking to mediaperson, Chittorgarh district collector, Chetan Ram Deora said, "The critically injured have more than 70% burns, referred them to Ravindra Nath Tagore Medical College, Udaipur. We have started an administrative level inquiry into the matter. We will get the report within 10 days. Legal action will be taken against those who were found to be negligent." Police investigating is on in the matter.

Batote encounter: Family mourns death of Naik Rajendra Singh

Jaisalmer (Rajasthan)/ Ramban (Jammu and Kashmir), Sep 29 (ANI): People at the native place of Naik Rajendra Singh condoled the death of soldier, who was killed in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban. Rajendra Singh hails from Mohangarh in Jaisalmer. His body will be flown to his home town on September 29 where his last rites will be performed. Security forces shot dead three terrorists who were holding hostage a civilian inside a house in Batote town of Ramban district.
