Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Sep 01 (ANI): A 67-year-old wild life photographer has completed motorbike journey from Thiruvananthapuram to Ladakh. He returned to his city Thiruvananthapuram on August 31. A retired engineer, P Madhusoodanan started his journey on August 7. Adventurer endured challenging environments during his expedition. This was Madhusoodanan's second motorbike expedition. He earlier went on a motorbike journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. Speaking to ANI, Madhusoodanan said, "this time I went to Ladakh. This is my second long distance expedition. First time, in 2012, I went for Kanyakumari-Kashmir expedition.

New Delhi, Sep 01 (ANI): In a recent study it has been found that alternate days of fasting and feasting is a much simpler approach to lose weight rather than binging on a low-calorie diet.The study was published in the journal, 'Cell Metabolism'. The process of eating and fasting the alternate days is called alternate-day fasting (ADF). In just one of the trial of the ADF diet, study volunteers lost more than seven pounds. Even though the people were allowed to eat 30 per cent more on the days they were allowed to eat more, the weight loss was successful. Even with some amount of extra food on feast days, the study volunteers still consumed fewer calories overall because of their fasting days, the researchers explained. Intermittent-fasting diets have received a lot of attention over the past few years. In absence of electricity, doctors stitched up the wounds of accident victim with help of phone's flashlight. The incident took place at District Combined Hospital in UP's Firozabad. Mayurbhanj (Odisha), Sep 01 (ANI): A herd of elephants is creating havoc in Khaparapada village of Odisha's Mayurbhanj. These elephants have migrated from Jharkhand over a month ago. Jumbos have destroyed many acres of paddy crops in the area. Locals allege that forest department has not been able restrict tuskers from entering residential areas. The area falls under Karanjia forest range.
Hyderabad, Sep 01 (ANI): Two Hyderabad-based activists alleged that GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) poisoned 150 dogs in Nagole area of Telangana. They also stated that the dead bodies of animals were disposed in the dump yard which is behind Auto Nagar. It has also been alleged that some of the dogs were buried alive in the outskirts of the city. The two activists requested the government to look into the matter and take appropriate action. Speaking to ANI, Gouri Vandana, "I put a sincere request to the Government of Telangana that this is not the solution to get rid of the voiceless. On Friday 150 dogs were poisoned in Nagol, Hyderabad, and dumped in the dump yard which is behind Autonagar. Nagpur (MH), Aug 31 (ANI): A festival of Marbat is being celebrated on August 31. This festival is marked only in Maharashtra's Nagpur. Thousands of people gathered on the streets and took out a procession of effigies known as Marbats. These are clay effigies Kali (black) and Pilvi (yellow) which are later burnt by the locals as a symbol of evil forces. It's believed that these statues absorb the negativity and social evils when they are taken through the streets. And then the negativity and social evils are burnt along with the statues.

Hyderabad, Aug 31 (ANI): The final list of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam has been released on August 31 which left out over 19 lakh people in the state, rendering them stateless. While speaking to media on NRC list, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, "Many people in Assam have told me that the parents' names are included, but names of their children are excluded. For example, Mohammad Sanaullah, he has served in Indian Army. His case is pending in the High Court. I am sure that he will also get justice." "Now, this is an embarrassing moment for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)," Owaisi added.
New Delhi, Aug 31 (ANI): In a first, a doctor treated an 11-month-old girl's doll before treating her to make her comfortable. An 11-month-old girl Zikra suffering from a fracture was in severe pain and was refusing treatment so to make her comfortable, doctors and girl's mother came up with an idea to first treat baby girl's doll 'Pari', as child is very close to the doll, and then treat her. This unique treatment took place at Delhi's Lok Nayak Hospital. Dr Ajay Gupta, Professor of Orthopedic at Lok Nayak Hospital explained the whole incident. "An 11-month-old girl suffering from a fracture was refusing treatment so her mother gave us idea to pretend to treat her doll first, as child is very close to the doll. It worked well and patient felt comforted." Treating the doll worked surprisingly well and the patient felt comfortable. This one of a kind treatment is a perfect example of when doctors respect patient's emotion.
