Centre of the very severe cyclonic storm Nivar to cross the coast near Puducherry around 3 AM with wind speed of 120-130 kmph gusting to 145 kmph, as per the IMD.
Singhu Border, Nov 26 (ANI): In the wake of farmers' 'Delhi Chalo' protest march, heavy security has been deployed at Singhu border (Haryana-Delhi border) to stop the agitating farmers. Proper barricading is also being done and police are ready to stop the farmers from entering the national capital. Delhi Police have rejected all requests from various farmers' organisations to hold protest in the national capital on November 26 and 27. Meanwhile, Haryana Police will deploy more than 1,500 security personnel at the Faridabad-Delhi borders. Chennai, Nov 26 (ANI): The landfall process of severe cyclonic storm Nivar has started, informed S Balachandran, Head of IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) Chennai, on night of November 25. "Very severe cyclonic storm Nivar now lies about 50 km east-southeast of Cuddalore, about 40 km east southeast of Puducherry. Landfall process commences. Centre of Nivar Cyclone to cross coast near Puducherry within next 3 hours," IMD has stated.
Bharuch (Gujarat), Nov 26 (ANI): The mortal remains of senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel were brought to Sardar Patel Hospital in his hometown of Bharuch in Gujarat on November 25. His last rites will likely be performed on November 26 in his native place. The veteran Congress leader, a confidante of party's interim president Sonia Gandhi, passed away in the wee hours of November 25, his son Faisal Patel confirmed on Twitter. Ahmed Patel had tested positive for coronavirus around a month back, and was undergoing treatment at a Gurugram hospital. The seasoned leader died due to multi-organ failure. Doda (JandK), Nov 26 (ANI): Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir region received fresh spell of snowfall and rain which have triggered cold wave conditions in the region. The snowfall led to closure of several roads connecting remote villages in the area. In view of heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of the valley, a 'low danger' avalanche warning was issued for Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda, Anantnag, Kulgam, Baramulla, and Ganderbal.
Andaman Nicobar Island, Nov 26 (ANI): The Indian Army on November 25 successfully test-fired the BrahMos missile in the Bay of Bengal. The missile, developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation, hit the designated target at over 250 km with pinpoint accuracy, the Indian Army said. This missile firing was in continuation with earlier launches of the BrahMos missile.
New Delhi, Nov 26 (ANI): Strong sleeping pills known as 'Z-drugs' are linked with an increased risk of falls, fractures, and stroke among people with dementia - according to research from the University of East Anglia. Sleep disturbance is common among people with dementia and the impact for patients and their families is significant. The study was published in the journal BMC Medicine. But a new study reveals that stronger doses of these drugs are linked with an increased risk of adverse effects. These adverse effects were found to be similar or greater than those for higher dose benzodiazepines or 'benzos' - which are also used to treat sleep disturbance, and are known to have several adverse effects. The team said that patients already taking higher doses of Z-drugs should not stop taking their medication suddenly. However, they should seek a review with their GP. The Marina beach area in Chennai was almost deserted in view of the cyclone. More than 1 lakh people have been evacuated across Tamil Nadu, whereas Puducherry evacuated over 1000 people. "Cyclone Nivar may make landfall around 2 am- 3 am on November 26. Over one lakh people have been evacuated across Tamil Nadu and more than 1,000 people have been evacuated in Puducherry," said SN Pradhan.

Biruni (Uttar Pradesh) November 25 (ANI): India's first Traction Substation (TSS) of 2x25 KV system has been installed at Biruni in Khurja-Bhaupur Section of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC). Traction Substation is an electrical substation where power supply from 132 KV/220 KV is converted to 2x 25 KV. This 2x25 KV is fed to Over Head Equipment (OHE) for running the trains. Total 55 TSS are planned along the entire length of the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC). The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai to Dadri) will have 25 TSS and Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (from Ludhiana to Son Nagar) will have 30 TSS. The Over Head Equipment (OHE) in WDFC is of 7.4 meter height and in EDFC it is 5.8 meter in contrast to the existing Indian Railways (IR) OHE of 5.5 meter. This will facilitate double stack container movement on flat wagons in WDFC. DFC has a provision of 2 x 25 KV OHE to undertake higher haulage at greater speeds while India
Tundla (Uttar Pradesh) November 25 (ANI): First time in the history of Indian Railways, High speed turnout, on which trains can move at the speed of 55 kmph, has been introduced by Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL). When a train moves from Main Line to Loop line, it has to negotiate a crossover. For this purpose, turnouts/crossovers are laid. Trains used to slow down to negotiate crossovers and turnouts. In Indian Railways, the speed of trains on crossovers is generally 15 kmph and on some of the routes it is 30 kmph. However on DFCCIL, these crossovers are fit for a designed speed of 55 kmph. The total number of turnouts on DFCCIL is 1500. DFCCIL is committed for targeted commissioning of the section and till date 500 km stretch are being used by running trains. By March 2021, it will increase to 992 km. Remaining all 1700 km route, i.e. 60% project will be completed by June 2022.

Ludhiana (Punjab)/ Kurukshetra (Haryana), Nov 25 (ANI): Farmer groups are heading towards Delhi to protest against amended farm laws on November 25. Group of farmers reached Ludhiana's Ladhowal Toll Plaza. "We're against recent farm laws. Our slogan is 'ghera dalo, dera dalo' which is what we'll do in Delhi. We've water tankers, will sleep in trolleys, also carrying a month's ration," said a protestor. Meanwhile, Police used water cannon to disperse farmers who have gathered in Kurukshetra to proceed to Delhi to stage a demonstration.
