New Delhi, Nov 06 (ANI): Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat on November 06 said that India must move out of the constant threat of sanctions or dependency on individual nations for country's military requirements. "As India grows in stature, security challenges will rise proportionately. We must move out of the constant threat of sanctions or dependency on individual nations for our military requirements and invest in building long-term indigenous capability for strategic independence and application of decisive military power to squarely meet present and emerging challenges," said Rawat.

Delhi Air Pollution: Itchy throat, watery eyes & a gas chamber, yet again!

A layer of haze lingered over the national capital and its suburbs on Thursday morning, with raging farm fires and a fall in the wind speed and temperatures pushing air quality to the worst levels in around a year. As the skies hung heavy and acrid over the region, people complained of itchy throat and watery eyes. PM10 levels in Delhi-NCR stood at 561 microgram per cubic meter (g/m3) at 8 am -- the highest since November 15 last year, when it was 637 g/m3, according to CPCB data. PM10 levels below 100 g/m3 are considered safe in India.

Snapchat introduces new feature to allow creators to showcase subscriber count

New Delhi, Nov 05 (ANI): Multimedia messaging app Snapchat has come out with a new feature where creators will now be able to publicise the number of subscribers they have. Mashable quoted a report by Tubefilter, which stated that the users will have the option to display their subscriber counts. A Snapchat spokesperson told Tubefilter, "we've listened to feedback from our creator community and many of them expressed interest in having the option to show that their community on Snapchat is growing". The spokesperson added that "..we are giving creators the option to make subscriber counts visible on their public profiles...We understand not every creator wants to have public metrics visible to their fans. Amit Shah arrives in Kolkata for 2-day visit

Kolkata (WB), Nov 05 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata on November 4 for a two-day visit. Home Minister came along with BJP's National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya. HM Shah was welcomed by several party workers. Amit Shah met the family of BJP worker Madan Ghorai in Kolkata. Ghorai was arrested in Patashpur, East Midnapore District on September 26 in connection with a kidnapping case and allegedly died in judicial custody.

40,000 stubble burning incidents reported in 2020: Punjab Pollution Control Board

Ludhiana (Punjab), Nov 05 (ANI): Speaking to ANI in Ludhiana, Environmental Engineer of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), GS Gill said that 40,000 incidents (of stubble burning) reported so far this year. He said, "As per data by Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC), around 40,000 incidents (of stubble burning) reported so far this year. It was 25,000 last year. Incidents reported mainly in Sangrur, Bathinda and Tarn Taran districts." "Around 20 FIRs have been registered and 49 cases are before the court," Gill added.

Arnab Goswami sent to 14-day judicial custody by court

Mumbai, Nov 5 (ANI): Republic TV Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and two others Feroz Shaikh and Nitesh Sarda have been sent to 14-day judicial custody by Alibag District Magistrate Court. Goswami was arrested in early morning of November 4 from his residence in connection with a 2018 suicide case. Speaking to ANI, Arnab Goswami's lawyer, Gaurav Parker said, "It is a big victory for us. MCR (magisterial custody remand) is granted on the very first day. Police custody refused and magistrate custody granted." "We have filed our bail application and it has been kept for arguments. It will be decided tomorrow," he added.

'Quad' alliance starts 'Malabar' naval exercise in Bay of Bengal

Off The Coast (Bay of Bengal), Nov 04 (ANI): India along with US, Japan and Australia started the 'Malabar' naval exercise in Bay of Bengal. Navies of all four countries carried out anti-submarine warfare operations and naval maneuver at sea. Indian Navy's Ranvijay, Shivalik, Shakti, Sukanya and submarine Sindhuraj are exercising these operations with USS John S McCain, HMAS Ballarat and JMSDF Ship JS Onami. India, US, Japan and Australia are a part of 'Quad' alliance.

Bihar polls: 'PoK belongs to India,' says Rajnath Singh at Muzaffarpur rally

While addressing the rally, Rajnath Singh said that PoK belongs to India and we consider it as a part of us. He called it as 'our parliament's resolution.' Rajnath Singh said, "No power can capture an inch of India's land. And we will neither let anyone capture an inch of our land nor will we capture an inch land of another country. Massive explosion in Ahmedabad's chemical factory leaves 9 dead, rescue operation underway

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Nov 04 (ANI): 9 workers died after a massive explosion ripped apart a chemical godown in Ahmedabad. The godown was located in the industrial belt on Pirana- Piplaj road. Injured workers have been admitted in the hospital for treatment. Rescue operation is underway. Heavy machines are being used to clear the debris.

Visibility decreases as dense layer of smog engulfs national capital

New Delhi, Nov 03 (ANI): Dense layer of smog engulfed parts of the national capital. According to Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality index stood in 'poor' category. The visibility decreased in multiple areas of Delhi. Anand Vihar railway track was barely visible as layer of smog enveloped the tracks. Smog reduced the visibility of Akshardham temple. Delhi Chief Minister has taken up multiple steps to curb the air pollution but the condition seems to have deteriorated with passing days.
