Handwara (J-K), Oct 14 (ANI): Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in the Chakura area of Shopian district on October 14. Speaking to media, J-K Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh said, "The encounter was on till sometime ago and so far two militants have been neutralised. The area is under search now as there could be more militants." "The operation is not over as such and more details on this will be available later," The DGP added. "Pakistan tries to infiltrate more terrorists before snowfall. Our security forces looking after the border security grid are thwarting Pakistan's attempts," he further stated.
New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): The Information and Broadcasting Minister, Prakash Javadekar announced implementation of World Bank supported STARS (Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States Program) project in 6 states in a bid to improve the quality of education. "STARS project would be implemented as a new Centrally Sponsored Scheme, it covers 6 states namely Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Odisha," said Union Minister Prakash Javadekar Cabinet briefing. World Bank-supported scheme worth Rs 3,700 crore aims to improve the quality of school education. The project is supported by World Bank with amount of 3700 crore.
Hathras (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 14 (ANI): A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the alleged gangrape case in Hathras, inspected Emergency Ward of district hospital. The team also interacted with hospital administration. "We have a system of CCTV footage backup only up to 7 days. Then, how is it possible to give anyone a month-old footage," said Dr IB Singh, CMS (Chief Medical Superintendent) of Hathras District Hospital on being asked whether hospital provided CBI team with the footage of Hathras victim being treated.

Therefore, Delhi government's power stations were closed down in the past few years." "Delhi is the only state where there is no thermal power station," he added.
Kutch (Gujarat), Oct 14 (ANI): A store of popular jewellery brand Tanishq allegedly received threat calls in Gujarat's Kutch over its latest advertisement. On October 13, Tanishq India withdrew the advertisement after vicious trolling on social media. "On Friday, Tanishq India has released an advertisement in which few communities sentiments were hurt. The Kutch's store was receiving a threat calls after which we provided them a police patrolling team here." a police official said. "The store has not been attacked. However, I received some threat calls. The police have supported us," store manager Rahul Manuja told ANI.

They tore copies of the laws outside Krishi Bhawan in Delhi on October 14. Speaking to media, a farmer union leader said, "We weren't satisfied with discussions so we walked out and we want these black laws to be scrapped. Secretary said he'll communicate our demands further," he added. Another farmer union leader added, "We walked out as no minister came for meeting. We want these laws to be taken back."

Srinagar, Oct 14 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on October 14 met party leaders at her residence after she was released from detention last night. Mufti was in detention from August 5 last year following the abrogation of the special status of the erstwhile state. Mufti was released on Tuesday night as the Union Territory administration revoked the Public Safety Act charges against her. Mufti and many other leaders of Kashmir, including Farooq Abdullah, were put in detention last year in the wake of abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that accorded special status to the erstwhile state. In July this year, Mufti's detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA) was extended by three months. Farooq, and son Omar Abdullah, were released from detention in March.

Chitrakoot (UP), Oct 14 (ANI): A minor girl was found hanging at her residence in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot district. She allegedly died by suicide on Oct 13 after being gang-raped. Speaking to media, Chitrakoot DSP, Rajnish Kumar Yadav said, "Case under SC/ST Act is being registered. Stern action will be taken against accused." "Medical reports of girl awaited, probe on," DSP added.

"Nirbhay has been flight-tested earlier and has successfully completed all its development trials. We only wanted to increase indigenous content in it. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Chief Dr G Satheesh Reddy said, "Test is done primarily to enhance indigenous content in missile. Many indigenous systems incorporated in BrahMos missile system have been flight tested, along with extended range." "It was a successful mission. Most of the indigenous systems, incorporated now, have functioned to full satisfaction and the indigenous content has gone up in BrahMos now," DRDO Chairman added.
