New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Scientists have estimated that the age of an individual does not indicate how likely they are to be infected by SARS-CoV-2. However, the development of symptoms, the progression of the disease, and mortality are age-dependent. There have been a large number of deaths due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and it has been shown that elderly individuals disproportionately develop severe symptoms and show higher mortality. A team of scientists, including Associate Professor Ryosuke Omori from the Research Center for Zoonoses Control at Hokkaido University, have modelled available data from Japan, Spain and Italy to show that susceptibility to COVID-19 is independent of age, while the occurrence of symptomatic COVID-19, severity and mortality is likely dependent on age. Their results were published in the journal Scientific Reports on October 6, 2020.

Hyderabad, Oct 14 (ANI): Eight persons including a child died while four persons have been injured after a boulder fell on two houses at Bandlaguda area of Hyderabad following heavy rainfall. The officials are present at the spot. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi also visited the incident spot.
Gonda (UP), Oct 14 (ANI): An accused in the Gonda acid attack injured in an encounter with the police in Colonelganj area. He is taken to the hospital. Three minor girls were attacked with some chemicals on their faces while they were sleeping in their house in Gonda. CMO announced that CM Yogi Adityanath has directed for strict action against culprits in the chemical attack incident on three minor sisters in Gonda. The CM has instructed district administration to provide them immediate financial aid and ensure proper treatment.
Aligarh (UP), Oct 13 (ANI): Two people died and eight others were injured after an explosion took place at a house in Aliagrh's Khatikan area near Delhi Gate on October 13. Several adjoining houses were also damaged in the incident. Rescue operation underway.
Amritsar (Punjab), Oct 13 (ANI): On October 13, 'Rail Roko' agitation entered 20th day in Amritsar. The protest is led by Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee against new farm laws. "Today our protest entered 20th day. We will continue our protest until the government revoke the bill," State Secretary of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, Sarvan Singh Pandher said to ANI. Protesters also raised slogans against the Central government and state government.
New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Environment Minister Gopal Rai kick-started sprinkling of bio-decomposer solution. The solution is prepared by Pusa Research Institute, at Hiranki Village in Narela. The solution will convert the stubble into compost and help in doing away with the practice of burning it. Kejriwal said, "There is around 700-800 hectares of land in Delhi where non-basmati rice is cultivated. We've made all arrangements. Farmers will not have to spend any money. Sprinkling will be done, stubble will get converted into compost and land will be ready for crops in 20-25 days."

Hathras (UP), Oct 13 (ANI): In the latest development in Hathras case, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team on October 13 reached the spot where body of the victim girl was cremated. The CBI team reached the victim's Bulgadhi village on Tuesday amid tight security. The victim's brother has been brought to the incident site where the CBI team is carrying out the investigation. Ahead of the CBI's visit, Uttar Pradesh Police deployed cops to maintain law and order in the area. Earlier in the day, Hathras victim's family returned to their home in Bulgadhi village after appearing before the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court. A 19-year-old woman had died on September 29 after the alleged assault and gang-rape on September 14.
Mumbai, Oct 13 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers staged protest outside Siddhivinayak Temple against the state government on October 13. They demanded that all temples in Maharashtra should be re-opened for devotees. Protesters tried to enter the temple amidst heavy police deployment and barricading. BJP workers were later detained by police after they made an attempt to enter Siddhivinayak Temple. Speaking to ANI, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Maharashtra Legislative Council, Pravin Darekar said, "Liquor and wine shops have been opened, even with home delivery options. But who will think about those who want to visit the temple for their mental peace?" "Government is not thinking about small traders whose livelihood depends on temples. Government is full of ego," BJP leader added. Adding to it, BJP leader, Prasad Lad said, "We are demanding that we should be allowed to enter the Siddhivinayak Temple. If they don't give us entry, then we will force our way into the temple

Checking of every devotee will be done twice in the temple premises amid coronavirus pandemic. Devotees will be properly sanitized, their body temperature will be checked and wearing face masks is also compulsory for all. No offering of any kind will be taken in the temple this time due to COVID fear. Speaking to ANI, trustee of Jhandewalan Temple, Ravindra Goyal said, "Thermal screening, face masks are compulsory for all the devotees. Children below 10 years and senior citizens above the age of 65 will not be allowed in the temple."

New Delhi, Oct 12 (ANI): With the central government capping prices for COVID-19 tests, health experts strongly opine on maintaining standard procedures and using quality testing kits. While increasing the tests and capping the prices, the quality of consumables being used in testing coronavirus for collecting samples should not be compromised, they said. Dr. Harshal R Salve, associate professor, centre for community medicine at AIIMS said, "Quality assurance during COVID-19 laboratory testing is of utmost important for ensuring correct testing and thus isolation of COVID positive cases. The government has capped the pricing of RT-PCR testing in the interest of the public and also to increase voluntary testing. This should not be taken as an opportunity to compromise the quality of testing especially in private laboratories and hospitals."
Hathras (UP), Oct 13 (ANI): Family members of Hathras alleged gang-rape victim returned to their residence on night of Oct 12. They were in Lucknow to appear before the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court. A 19-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped in Hathras and later she succumbed to injuries in a Delhi hospital.
