India's men's 4x400m and mixed 4x100m relay teams took a major step toward qualification to the World Athletics Relays in Botswana in May, delivering standout performances at the International Invitation Relay Competition here on Saturday.
The men's 4x400m squad, featuring Manu TS, Amoj Jacob, D Chaudhary, and Rajesh Ramesh, secured gold with a time of 3:01.43 seconds. The performance significantly bolsters their standing as they push for a spot in the World Athletics Relays, scheduled for May 23 in Gaborone, Botswana.

The Indian Super League clubs on Saturday urged the All India Football Federation (AIFF) not to take any "binding decision" on the new long-term commercial rights holder during Sunday's executive committee meeting, citing a lack of meaningful opportunity to evaluate the bidders.
The ISL clubs have been embroiled in a conflict with the AIFF, with recent developments focusing on the commercial rights tender.
Two bidders are in contention to acquire the combined commercial rights of the ISL and Federation Cup, with one of them offering more than Rs 2100 crore for a 20-year period after the AIFF opened the bids on Friday, and the national federation is expected to get its new commercial partner by Sunday, when it meets for an executive committee meeting.

Public urination currently attracts a fine of Rs 50 under the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957.
The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, which was introduced by Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada in the Lok Sabha on Friday, proposes multiple amendments in the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957.
The change proposed under Section 397(1) of the said Act replaces the existing fine with a higher penalty for acts such as easing oneself in public, disturbing public peace through noise, or storing substances like night-soil, cow dung, manure or rubbish without written permission from the Commissioner.
The amendment has proposed a sharper measure for the civic body as the penalty for running establishments such as lodging houses, eating joints and tea shops .

A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight from Visakhapatnam, carrying 160 passengers on board, made an emergency landing at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday due to an engine failure, according to sources.
"Full emergency was declared at Indira Gandhi International Airport at 10.39 for IndiGo Visakhapatnam-Delhi flight 6E 579 due to one engine failure," a source said.
There were 160 passengers on board the Boeing 737 aircraft, the source said.
The flight landed at 10.59 am as per flight tracking website flightradar24.com.

Former Raymond chairman Vijaypat Singhania died here on Saturday evening, his family said.
He was 87.
His son Gautam Singhania, the group's current chairman and managing director, announced the death on the microblogging platform 'X'.
Singhania passed away "peacefully" in Mumbai, and the last rites will be performed on Sunday, a Raymond Group spokesperson said.
Vijaypat Singhania, a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, was also a keen aviator and held a world record for the highest altitude gained in a hot air balloon.
He led Raymond as chairman for two decades till 2000. After handing over the reins of the company to Gautam, Vijaypat also transferred his entire 37 per cent stake in the company to his son.
Vijaypat Singhania and his son were embroiled in legal disputes some years ago, but later they settled the issues.

US President Donald Trump will travel to China on May 14 and 15 for a rescheduled summit with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, the White House announced on Wednesday.
Trump, who was earlier scheduled to travel to Beijing by the end of this month, postponed his trip due to the war in Iran.
