Jaipur (Rajasthan), August 20 (ANI): In a meeting to review the status of higher education in the state, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that the state government is committed to provide good quality of higher education to the students. 50 new Colleges have been announced in this year's budget so that students can get higher education at their nearest places. Gehlot directed the officials to complete the construction of college buildings in one year time frame, so the students can get the benefit of these colleges soon. He stressed that government will provide every necessary resource to these colleges. Gehlot added that, "Expansion of quality education and health services are aspects on which government has the main focus."

He was stuck in Kaza for the last 3 days as roads were closed due to snowfall and heavy rainfall. While speaking to ANI, he said, "I was stuck in Kaza, Spiti for last 3 days as roads were closed due to rainfall. 127 people were also stuck in Chandratal due to snowfall, who have been rescued."

New Delhi, Aug 20 (ANI): Water level in the Yamuna River on August 20 morning crossed "danger mark" as Haryana released more water from Hathni Kund barrage. The river was flowing at 205.94 meters, 0.61 meters above the "danger mark" of 205.33 meters. The water level is expected to rise further as Haryana released 1.43 lakh cusec water on Monday evening. The Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had chaired a high-level meeting of Cabinet ministers and officers of concerned departments to take stock of preparedness for any situation arising out of incoming excess water in the river. After meeting, he urged the people living on the Yamuna floodplains and low-lying areas to move to safer places. As a precautionary measure, vehicular movement on 'Loha Pul', an old iron bridge over the river connecting East Delhi to Old Delhi, was closed in view of the increasing water level. Bengaluru (Karnataka), Aug 20 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chief K Sivan said, "Next major event will happen on 2nd September, when the lander will be separated from the orbiter. On 3rd September, we will have a small maneuver for about 3 seconds to ensure that the systems of the lander are running normally. On 7th September, at 1:55 am, lander will land on the moon." Coimbatore (TN), Aug 20 (ANI): An exhibition was organised to display unique collection of rare currencies and stamps in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore. Antiquarian Jayesh Kumar had displayed his collection through the exhibition. He is collecting these items for past 10 years. It also showcased 65-million-year-old egg fossil of dinosaur. There were ancient weapons such as swords, shields and hand cuffs. Visitors flocked to the exhibition in a large number. The aim of the exhibition was to aware people about the ancient India.

Anandpur Sahib (Punjab), Aug 20 (ANI): Incessant rain led to flood in Lodhipur village of Punjab's Anandpur Sahib on August 19. The crops were damaged due to heavy downpour. Houses in the low lying areas of the village have also been flooded. Normal lives have also been affected.
