Government is focusing on higher quality education: CM Gehlot

Jaipur (Rajasthan), August 20 (ANI): In a meeting to review the status of higher education in the state, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that the state government is committed to provide good quality of higher education to the students. 50 new Colleges have been announced in this year's budget so that students can get higher education at their nearest places. Gehlot directed the officials to complete the construction of college buildings in one year time frame, so the students can get the benefit of these colleges soon. He stressed that government will provide every necessary resource to these colleges. Gehlot added that, "Expansion of quality education and health services are aspects on which government has the main focus."

Houses submerged in parts of Delhi due to overflow of Yamuna River

HP Minister RL Markanda airlift from Kaza to Shimla after 3 days

Shimla (HP), Aug 20 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh's Agriculture Minister RL Markanda airlifted from Kaza to Shimla on August 20. He was stuck in Kaza for the last 3 days as roads were closed due to snowfall and heavy rainfall. While speaking to ANI, he said, "I was stuck in Kaza, Spiti for last 3 days as roads were closed due to rainfall. 127 people were also stuck in Chandratal due to snowfall, who have been rescued."

Officials rescue fishermen after they stuck in water stream in Bhopal

Bhopal (MP), Aug 20 (ANI): After a water-level suddenly rose in a water stream, following the opening of Kerwa Dam's gates in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal on August 20. Two fishermen have been rescued by a team of Municipal Corporation and Fire Brigade. Rescue operations are underway.

Water level in Yamuna crosses 'danger mark' in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 20 (ANI): Water level in the Yamuna River on August 20 morning crossed "danger mark" as Haryana released more water from Hathni Kund barrage. The river was flowing at 205.94 meters, 0.61 meters above the "danger mark" of 205.33 meters. The water level is expected to rise further as Haryana released 1.43 lakh cusec water on Monday evening. The Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had chaired a high-level meeting of Cabinet ministers and officers of concerned departments to take stock of preparedness for any situation arising out of incoming excess water in the river. After meeting, he urged the people living on the Yamuna floodplains and low-lying areas to move to safer places. As a precautionary measure, vehicular movement on 'Loha Pul', an old iron bridge over the river connecting East Delhi to Old Delhi, was closed in view of the increasing water level. Lander of Chandrayaan-2 will land on moon on September 7 at 1:55 am: ISRO

Bengaluru (Karnataka), Aug 20 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chief K Sivan said, "Next major event will happen on 2nd September, when the lander will be separated from the orbiter. On 3rd September, we will have a small maneuver for about 3 seconds to ensure that the systems of the lander are running normally. On 7th September, at 1:55 am, lander will land on the moon." Earlier in the day, Chandrayaan-2 was successfully placed in the moon's orbit.

Unique collection of rare currencies, stamps showcased in TN's Coimbatore

Coimbatore (TN), Aug 20 (ANI): An exhibition was organised to display unique collection of rare currencies and stamps in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore. Antiquarian Jayesh Kumar had displayed his collection through the exhibition. He is collecting these items for past 10 years. It also showcased 65-million-year-old egg fossil of dinosaur. There were ancient weapons such as swords, shields and hand cuffs. Visitors flocked to the exhibition in a large number. The aim of the exhibition was to aware people about the ancient India.

B Sriramulu, KS Eshwarappa and others BJP leaders take oath as K'taka Cabinet Ministers

Bengaluru (Karnataka), Aug 20 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa expanded his ministry on August 20 by inducting 17 ministers in the first phase. CN Ashwath Narayan and Govind M Karjol took oath as Karnataka Cabinet Ministers in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, KS Eshwarappa and B Sriramulu also took oath as Karnataka Cabinet Minister. New Delhi, Aug 20 (ANI): IAF Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa attended a seminar in Delhi on August 20, where he said that soon indigenous technology will replace obsolete war fighting equipments. Dhanoa said, "We cannot wait for indigenous technology to replace obsolete war-fighting equipments, neither it will be prudent to import every defence equipment from abroad. What we are doing is replacing our high-end obsolete weapons with indigenously developed ones. This will boost our in-house defence manufacturing. However, to win the war, we also need some high-end, high-tech items, which we have to import. This gives us balanced air force with a long term ability to develop and manufacture straight of war air-craft and systems."

Crocodile rescued by forest officials in Gujarat's Vadodara
