Daniels is entangled in a separate civil battle with U.S. President Donald Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen. The case is over a $US130,000 payment made to her as part of a 2016 agreement to stop her from discussing a sexual encounter she says she had with Trump almost a decade ago.

Syria strikes were in UK's 'national interest', says Theresa May

London, Apr 17 (ANI): Britain's decision to conduct air strikes against Syria was in the country's national interest, and not the result of pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Theresa May told parliament on Monday. May, who has regained confidence after winning support for her tough stance on Syria and Russia, was making a statement to parliament on her decision to join the United States and France in Saturday's strikes in retaliation for a suspected gas attack.

US bans American companies from selling to Chinese phone maker ZTE

New Delhi, Apr 17 (ANI): The U.S. Department of Commerce is banning American companies from selling components to leading Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE for seven years. ZTE is a leading telecom equipment maker. It buys components from U.S. producers, such as Qualcomm, Microsoft, and Intel. And it sells smartphones in the U.S. to companies, like ATandT, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Last year, ZTE pleaded guilty to conspiring to evade U.S. sanctions by illegally shipping its products and technology to Iran. As part of the agreement, it promised to dismiss four senior employees and discipline 35 others. It did the former, but omitted the latter. As a penalty, the Commerce Department is now banning American companies from doing business with ZTE.

Oscar-winning director Milos Forman dies at 86

Hollywood, CA, USA, Apr 15 (ANI): Oscar-winning director Milos Forman died at the age of 86. The Czech-born movie director -- turned U.S. citizen -- passed away in Connecticut on Friday, after a short illness. His film 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' earned five Oscars in 1976. And his 1984 film 'Amadeus' - based on the life of Mozart -- earned another eight Oscars. His other notable works include the rock musical "Hair", "Ragtime" and "The People vs Larry Flint." Married three times, Forman met his third wife Martina - a writer - in Prague in the 1990s. He was father to two sets of twin boys, with his second and third wives.

Over 250 dead in Alegria plane crash

Algeria, Apr 12 (ANI): At least 257 people died after a military plane crashed into a field in Algeria on Wednesday. Most of the people died were from military, said Algeria's Defence Ministry. The plane crashed on the perimeter of Boufarik airport, southwest of Alegria's capital Algiers. The plane was on its way to disputed zone of Tindouf in southwest Alegria.

Youth exchange program deepens India-Nepal ties

Kathmandu (Nepal), Apr 11 (ANI): A group of 37 young delegates from India which toured various places in Nepal from 4th to 11th April got a chance to interact and observe the cultural and emotional aspects of the Nepal. The team from India toured Nepal on the invitation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the government of Nepal. The youth from India learned a lot about neighbouring Nepal. Passengers stranded as strike grounds flights

Germany, Apr 11 (ANI): Hundreds of flights were cancelled at four German airports, including the biggest hub Frankfurt, on April 10 as ground staff and other public sector workers staged walkouts across the country to increase the pressure in a pay dispute. Lufthansa cancelled more than 800 flights out of its 1,600 planned for April 10. The strike also affected nurseries, rubbish collection and swimming pools. The leading union is demanding a 6% pay rise for 2.3 million public sector employees. But the federal government has rejected that call saying a big increase would force them to outsource jobs.

112-year-old Japanese man recognised as world's oldest man

Ashoro (Japan), Apr 11 (ANI): A 112-year-old Japanese man, Masazo Nonaka, was recognised as the world's oldest man by the Guinness World Records on April 10. He was born on July 25, 1905, months before Albert Einstein published his theory of special relativity. Masazo Nonaka is a Japanese man who belongs to Hokkaido. After the previous title holder Yisrael Kristal of Israel died last August at 113, Guinness had been trying to confirm the oldest living man.
