Gilgit Baltistan, 10 APRIL, 2018: - Anger and distress against Chinese are brewing among families in Gilgit Baltistan following news being received of Uighur women in Xinjiang province being arrested. Xinjiang's proximity to Gilgit Baltistan has seen both of these regions sharing long historical, cultural and family ties. Many Uighurs are married to Gilgit-Baltistan locals. The arrests of Uighur women could be a result of China's suspicion of their alleged association with Islamist extremists. An all-party conference was held in Gilgit recently on Chinese transgressions and a demand was made for the immediate release from jail of over fifty Uighur women who had been implicated on false charges of terrorism. They also demanded imposition of a trade ban against China for a year.
Islamabad (Pakistan), Apr 10 (ANI): In the wake of the Pakistan media's reluctance over covering the Pashtun Long March, the country's English daily, The Express Tribune (ET), was singled out by Twitter users on Monday for deleting stories on the protest after publishing it. With Pashtun youths staging protests against alleged extrajudicial arrests and killings of members of the ethnic minority by security forces, the blackout of the Pakistan media over the whole affair has been widely criticised by scholars, journalists and others both domestically and internationally.

Swaziland (Africa), Apr 10 (ANI): India and Swaziland have signed two agreements in the field of Health and Medicine and Visa department on April 09. One of the agreement deals with granting of the visa waiver for the diplomats and officials holding relevant passports while the other is to ensure cooperation in the field of health and medicine. The agreements were signed in the presence of Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, who is on his maiden official visit to Swaziland as part of his three-nation tour in Africa. Earlier on Monday President Kovind inspected a guard of honour in front of the Lozitha Palace in Swaziland and then met Swaziland's King Mswati III at the Lozitha Palace. President Kovind is on a three-nation state visit to the African countries- Equatorial Guinea, Swaziland and Zambia from April 7 to 12.

Muenster (Germany), April 08 (ANI): Three people died and 20 others were injured on April 07 as a delivery vehicle drove into a restaurant in the German city of Muenster. The suspect then took his own life, police said, adding that they weren't looking for anyone else. Police cordoned off the scene while a helicopter circled above. The incident recalls a December 2016 truck attack in Berlin that killed 12 people. Anis Amri, a failed Tunisian asylum seeker with Islamist links, hijacked a truck, killed the driver and then ploughed it into a crowded marketplace. That attack killed 11 more people and injured dozens of others.

Syria, Apr 08 (ANI): The Syrian government has launched a fierce air and ground assault on the last rebel-held town in eastern Ghouta, killing at least 32 people in a bid to seal President Bashar al-Assad's biggest victory since 2016, a war monitor said. Thick clouds of smoke were seen rising from the targeted area, the town of Douma, where the Jaish al-Islam rebel group is holding out after insurgents in other parts of eastern Ghouta accepted safe passage to other rebel areas.
New Delhi, Apr 07 (ANI): The United States of America on Friday slammed sanctions on Russian oligarchs close to Vladimir Putin over alleged meddling by Moscow in the 2016 U.S. election. The sanctions target seven Russian businessmen, the 12 companies they own or control, plus 17 high-ranking government officials. The action, taken under pressure from Congress, might hamper President Donald Trump's hopes for better relations with Putin. The sanctions freeze the U.S. assets of oligarchs such as aluminum tycoon Oleg Deripaska, who once had close ties to Trump's now-indicted former campaign manager, Paul Manafort. It's the second swipe at Russia in as many weeks for Trump, after coming under fire from critics for going too easy on Moscow. Last week, Trump expelled 60 Russian diplomats in connection with the UK nerve agent attack on a former Russia spy and his daughter.

New Delhi, Apr 06 (ANI): The United States President Donald Trump said that he was unaware of the payments worth $130,000 made by his personal attorney general Michael Cohen to American porn Stormy Daniels in exchange for remaining silent on the alleged sexual encounter. Earlier while addressing media, Cohen said that he himself made the payment to Daniels ahead of the United States Presidential elections in 2014. He also added that neither the Republican Party nor Trump's campaigners are involved in the transaction. Daniels has publicly claimed a 2006 sexual encounter with Trump. However, the US President had repeatedly denied any relations with the porn star.
