The President is on a six-day visit to the Aisland nations of Mauritius and Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, a region vital to India's strategic interests. President Kovind also visit Madagascar on March 14-15. This will also be the first ever visit by an Indian VVIP to the island nation.

Officials mourn loss of lives at California veterans home

Yountville (USA), Mar 11 (ANI): Yountville Mayor John Dunbar on Sunday said that the entire community was mourning for the four lives lost in a hostage situation at a veterans home on Friday. Details emerged on Saturday about a decorated former U.S. serviceman who took three women hostage at a California veterans home where he had undergone treatment for PTSD, in a standoff that ended when police found him and his captives dead. The Veterans Home of California's Yountville is the largest such facility in the United States. It was the scene of the latest mass shooting to rock a country on Friday.

Syrian army gains ground in eastern Ghouta

Syria, Mar 11 (ANI): The Syrian army has reportedly splintered the rebel-held enclave of eastern Ghouta, as it intensifies its three-week assault on the area near Damascus. The Syrian army advanced on March 10 into eastern Ghouta, the last major rebel stronghold near the capital Damascus. That's according to a war monitor and Syrian state media, who said the army had managed to splinter the besieged enclave. Syrian state television broadcast footage from inside Mesraba; the capture of that town and surrounding farmland brings important roads under Syrian army fire, effectively cutting the large rebel-held towns of Harasta and Douma off from each other. That's according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. A spokesman for Jaish al-Islam, one of the two main insurgent groups in Eastern Ghouta, said rebels had repelled the Mesraba attack. Florida governor Rick Scott signs gun safety bill into law

Tallahassee (USA), Mar 10 (ANI): Florida Governor Rick Scott on Friday signed into law a bill from the legislature that raises the legal age for buying rifles. It imposes a three-day waiting period on all gun sales and allows the arming of some school employees. "Today should serve as an example to the entire country that government can and must move fast," Scott, said in remarks before the signing, surrounded by survivors from the shooting and their families. He said the bill was a compromise balancing concerns of both gun-control and gun-rights advocates. "I am glad, however, that the plan in this bill is not mandatory, which means it will be up to locally elected officials," Scott said. "If counties don't want to do this, they can simply say no", Scott added.

Washington, DC (USA), Mar 09 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump signed two proclamations on Thursday that implement tariffs on imported steel and aluminum but exempt Canada and Mexico. President Trump's tariffs on steel and aluminium imports will start in 15 days with initial exemptions for Canada and Mexico and the possibility of alternatives for other countries. Donald Trump falls over 200 places in Forbes billionaires list

New Delhi, Mar 07 (ANI): U.S. President Donald Trump has tumbled down more than 200 places in the world's billionaire rankings after losing around $400 million in his net worth from last year.
