Employee injured after package explodes at FedEx facility

Texas (USA), Mar 21 (ANI): At least one employee was injured when a package containing nails and shrapnel that was bound for Austin, exploded at a Texas FedEx facility. It is the fifth potentially deadly device targeting the state capital. A FedEx employee was injured when a package containing nails and shrapnel detonated shortly after midnight local time at a distribution facility outside San Antonio, about 65 miles south of Austin. It is not clear yet that whether the explosion was related to a string of bombings in the Texas capital over the past two weeks that have killed two people and wounded four. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigation is underway. The first three devices in Austin were parcel bombs dropped off at night in front of homes on the city's east side, with the fourth a tripwire device that went off in a west side neighborhood on Sunday. According to the police officials, all four devices were similar.

Ex-Parliamentarian calls on EU to take cognizance of human rights violations in Pakistan

Geneva (Switzerland), Mar 20 (ANI): A former member of the European Parliament and founder of South Asia Democratic Forum Paulo Casaca, raised questions over the ignorance of European Union (EU) towards human rights violation, minority rights and terror funding activities in Pakistan. "There are laws that should be followed. The European Union is now giving to Pakistan the very rare distinction of being considered to be one utmost follower of international laws and namely of human rights conventions and also of conventions against terrorism. And, it cannot ignore what is going on. I think that the European Union with this attitude actually gives a lot of incentive for the Pakistani authorities to ignore human rights. The European Union has a lot of responsibility of what is going on in Pakistan," said Casaca.

Geneva (Switzerland), Mar 20 (ANI): Responding to a question on laws against sheltering terror groups and terrorists, a former member of the European Parliament and founder of South Asia Democratic Forum, Paulo Casaca, said that Pakistan doesn't apply the United Nations conventions. "The law exists, there is an article that clearly states that for being eligible for any trade preference, a country must apply United Nations conventions and it is very clearly the case that Pakistan isn't doing it," said Casaca. "At last, the President of United States said it in a very clear way, it is a declaration that is late for some decades, but better late than never. This is so obvious what it says that I cannot understand how can someone ignore it," he added.
